This particular class period consisted of around 3 students, but one student was working particularly just by himself with his teachers aid. Even before it started Ms.Metcalf classroom energy felt a bit off, and come to find out that during lunch one of the students had been teasing the other student. The student that had also been causing trouble had out of nowhere stolen paper clips off of Ms.Metcalf. The other student was not able to stay on task, because he still felt upset from the incident that occurred during lunch. This soon became more of a discipline class rather than the student learning about math, and apparently the "bully" had created pointer with the paper clips that could have actually hurt someone. Soon after Ms. Metcalf had to call the assistant principles to step in to discipline the student, and lost a entire day of instructions due to one student misbehavior. After the misbehaving student had left she went over to the emotional distraught student and began discussing that he should never let people 's words if they weren 't nice and that entire lesson became a lesson on
My freshman seminar class hitherto has been good. In this class I have been learning about various topics. These topics fall into helping us for high school and preparing us for the future. These topics was important and necessary because they helped us to avoid from not being successful. One of the topics we have recently accomplished was budgeting.
One year, I tagged along with my parents when they drove my brother and sister to Worldview Academy. Unfortunately, I forgot about the incident. That all changed, though, when I found myself enrolled at the same academy my siblings had previously attended. Since then, I have returned three times and this year served as my third and final “term”. After my enrollment, I concluded that I had discovered an anomaly, for I had never found myself more comfortable in a crowd of perfect strangers, nor so intrigued with academic subjects or experienced such an exhilarating time evangelizing as I had at the academy.
The students and advisors of my Upward Bound Program, sat outside in a circle with an electric candle in our hands as we prepared our hearts for an honest and heart-to-heart conversation. Each student talked about what they had gone through and the struggles they had to face in their lives. Some students spoke about their torn families, thoughts of suicide and not feeling comfortable in their own skin.This brought out my own burden since the age of seven regarding my family where years of altercation, stress, worries, pressure could no longer be contained and my emotions came pouring out.
My teacher interview was with Jessica Mays/Richie. Jessica is fresh out of the program from Chico State University. For a first year teacher she is doing really well, and I’m surprised at how well her kindergarten class is. Just being in her class as a volunteer I have learned so much about what its like to be a teacher. Instead of looking into experience, because she doesn’t have much yet, she told me things that she learned from being a new teacher. I believe that this will help me through the program and becoming a future teacher.
Narrative Therapy was developed to help people separate themselves from their problems. Teachers have a positive influence on many students lives. One teacher has made a huge impact on my life. Mrs. X has always helped me and made a huge impact on my life. She always listened to what I had to say and she helped me learn.
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
When I transitioned into 7th grade, I was very clueless when it came to grammar and sophisticated writing techniques; little did I know how to use commas, semicolons, and transition words in a sentence. Throughout the year, not only did my grammar enhance, but also my sentence structure matured vastly. Reading my papers from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, I knew that my writing has improved.
In addition, (the cycle continues) just like his father was absent from his life, he was absent from his children’s life. Nonetheless, he did provide for them financially, when he was not in incarcerated, but failed to show them emotional and loving support. To this day, according to his caregiver, he still pushes his children away. As a child he was not shown love or emotional support, so it makes sense that he would not know how to reciprocate it back to his children. Had he continued to live with his grandmother where he was loved, disciplined the proper way, shown guidance and structure, his life probably would have turned out differently, but he was not giving the opportunity, which killed him on the inside. “Yep,” I responded, “I just studied for a little bit longer.” Feeling more confident that I was going to pass the test, my stress levels started to fall. Then the day of the test came. The first test I had to do was piano technique or playing the piano. The test was located at another teacher’s house, which was about half an hour away from my house. During the drive, my heart rate started beating faster and faster, until it felt like my heart was going to burst.
