The police responded to a tip that a home was being used to sell drugs. When they arrived at the home, Gant answered the door and stated that he expected the owner to return home later. The officers left and did a record check of Gant and found that his driver’s license had been suspended and there was a warrant for his arrest. The officers returned to the house later that evening and Gant wasn’t there. Gant returned shortly and was recognized by officers. He parked at the end of the driveway and exited his vehicle and was placed under arrest 10 feet from his car and was placed in the back of the squad car immediately. After Gant was secured, two officers searched his car and found a gun and a bag of cocaine.
In July 2003, Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Shanks of Multnomah County Oregon was performing a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by William Barrett. During this stop, Shanks arrested Barrett because of an outstanding warrant and then searched the car. A pressure-cooker found in the trunk was believed to be used in the making of methamphetamine. Barrett informed Shanks that the owner of the pressure-cooker was “Gunner Crapser,” and that he could be found at the Econolodge Motel in a room registered to a woman named Summer Twilligear (FindLaw, 2007, Factual and Procedural Background section, para. 2). Deputy Shanks quickly learned that there was an outstanding warrant for a “Gunner Crapser” but to not confuse the wanted man, whose name was not actually “Gunner Crapser,” with someone else using this name.

A police officer, Colin Allcars (Allcars), is suing Harry’s Ammo World (HAW) for his medical expenses, personal injuries, pain and suffering. HAW sold a rifle to Dakota D. West without checking West’s background for felonies or drug use. Federal law prevents the sale of firearms to anyone with a felony or to anyone that uses illegal drugs. Dakota had been convicted of a felony and was also a user of marijuana. Two months after the sale Dakota’s brother took the rifle and took hostages. When the police were trying to subdue and arrest Dakota’s brother he shot and wounded Colin AllCars. Allcars is suing HAW on the grounds of negligence.

On June 2, 1985, Officer Daniel Wright, of the San Francisco Police Department, was dispatched to a lumberyard where a shoplifting had just occurred. Upon arrival, a store employee informed the officer that an Asian man had concealed a bench vice in his jacket and was seen placing it in the trunk of a 1980 Honda Prelude., and when the employee attempted to question the man he quickly fled on foot. Officer Wright looked into the vehicle and discovered a bag that contained a silenced handgun. At this point a bearded man approached the officer with a sales receipt claiming that he had paid for the vice his friend had taken. Officer Wright questioned the bearded man after discovering that he had someone else's drivers' license and the vehicle plate had been switched. Wright recovered the silenced handgun from the vehicle after placing the bearded man under arrest.

During the course of this investigation and with the source’s assistance, I infiltrated not only the Bloods street gang, but the Latin Kings, 5 Percenters and Netas and made several purchases of CDS and firearms. In the middle of the investigation, unbeknownst to me, the Perth Amboy Police Department arrested one of the targets I had made purchases from and had made him aware of pending criminal charges related to my investigation. Shortly thereafter, I had arranged to meet with members of the same bloods set the target was a member of. With no knowledge of the events which had occured, I was days away from meetiing to purchase additional assault weapons. My effforts to build a solid and trusting relationship with the source paid off when the source contacted me, less than 48 hours prior to the undercover buy and told me the target that had been arrested knew I was a cop and my life was in grave danger.

Anthony Smith did have a prior history of criminal activity. Were there some questionable things that took place on that day that involved Officer J. Stockley I tend to think so? In some cases, we all write the script, (report) to fit the event. How can I say as a person the level of fear that Officer J. Stockley felt at the time of the event? The case transcripts state that J. Stockley was not the first person to see the gun or call gun it was his partner. I somewhat find it questionable that he did not testify at the trial. It appears that there was reason for Stockley’s prints to be on the gun, he located the gun and touched it when he rendered it safe. Prior to reading the case, it was my opinion that Former Police Officer Jason Stockley
