At that moment, I suddenly realized, I was all alone.
It began as a beautiful morning in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The sun was glistening so beautiful, nothing could ruin that day. The sky was cloudless not a cloud in sight. The wind was blowing ever so slightly, making the temperature astonishingly perfect. My family and I were on our way to Buffalo! Cruising down the highways so fast , we were faster than the speed of light or though, is appeared that way to a 7 year old kid (me). We were in 2 cars, our car and my uncle’s car. In our car it was my parents, my brother and I. In the other car it was my uncle his wife and their two kids (a son and a daughter). The ride was long, the smell of Tim Hortons swirled around our car. The bright yellow sun suffused heat on our car, it felt as if our car was slowly filling up and up with lava! The heat constantly increased and increased, until finally we gave up. We opened up the window , slowly the cool

I could hear slightly of what the guy in the movie said. All of a sudden Questions started to fill my mind, when will we arrive? How much longer? Is there anything to eat? Finally it happened, my mom handed me the bag of chips closest to her and said “eat” , a gigantic smile scrolled across my face and I started munching on the chips. The taste of the chips swirled around in my mouth. It tasted so amazing, close to the best i’ve ever tasted. I continued on eating and eating while the bag slowly ran out. After the experience with the chips I slowly fell asleep. The ride seemed to be getting longer and longer as we seemed to be getting closer and closer to our destination. The excitement, interest, and curiosity increased and increased every kilometre. Slowly but surely I knew we were going to arrive to our destination. The questions filled inside of me. The feelings of excitement and curiosity increased as we got closer and
On February 21, 2016, I, Deputy John Arnold, went to 11747 West 105th Street South to assist another deputy in reference to a fight in progress.
In that moment, the world seemed to slow down. Realizing what I had done, I joined in her screams of utter terror. “What do I do? WHAT DO I DO?” I begged them to tell me the solution, panic building in my lungs. There was no solution to this, I had completely messed up. The road I had just turned onto was a one way road, and I was definitely not going the right way. When the turn was complete I heard the horns begin, like a wall of sound blocking any escape. I stared into the four lanes of headlights before me and made a decision. I had already messed up and there was no stopping now, therefore I kept going as fast as I could without stopping, trying to escape the situation as fast as
So it was approximately two in the afternoon and I was sitting in the passenger seat of my mom’s black-cherry colored Honda truck. We had decided to get something to eat at a subway we saw on the way home. The building had a very warm and inviting atmosphere with tiled flooring and walls of caramel. We walked into the building and the aroma of freshly baked bread and sizzling brown bacon welcomed us.
The sun broke through the clouds on that crisp April morning as we drove to school. That morning felt off, a feeling that I had felt only one time before. The world moved too fast for me and I struggled to catch up. The raspy voices of the men on radio show thundered over the speakers in my father’s truck as we approached the school.
I received a voice mail today from Sean McKnight stating he has a meeting setup with Ken Barber and some other individuals on the executive board of Illinois Joining Forces (IJF). I felt it was my duty to inform the group about some important facts that Mr. McKnight is very good at hiding. I met Mr. McKnight during my time at NIU. I just served my time as the NIU Veterans Club president and decided it was time to let someone else take the helm. Matthew Galloway the current Veterans Club president introduced the club to Sean McKnight at a veterans club meeting. Sean came in and presented himself as a seasoned veteran’s advocate who has many connections throughout the state of Illinois and Washington D.C. He promoted his organization that he was starting Warriors Guarding Warriors as a revolutionary concept that has not been thought of as for yet throughout the veteran community. Finally, he offered his services to any veterans having trouble with VA benefits or the medical process. At the time we did not know that he was not officially certified to help veterans, and nor did he actually know the proper process or paper work needed to help our fellow veterans. Sean offered to be the Veterans Clubs mentor. The club held a vote and
I stopped walking and looked up at the faint stars. The seagulls were flying overhead. They were screeching and swooping at the water. I started to wish I were one of them, flying free without any restrictions or limits. I listened to their voice, the screech. Deep down in I could understand what they were saying. I can't explain it, but I was so in love with the moment I thought I saw things as they did. I was in company of animals that had no concept of time, and no worries, and I was contempt with that. I closed my eyes and the faint sun warmed my face, as if shining only for me. The warmth made ...
It seemed like yesterday when the car chugged down the seemingly empty road, black smoke pouring from the overheated exhaust pipe. We were only ten minutes away, not like I was counting, but this was a big moment for me. The car suddenly slowed, pulling onto a bumpy gravel driveway, I knew this was it. I slid my door open with ease and excitement, thudding my feet on the firm ground as I enthusiastically awaited what was to come. As I entered the serene landscape, nature filled the misty air with a fresh, invigorating fragrance.
Why would someone want to sit in front of a computer or sit at a desk all day when you could be around babies and always be in action? My passion in life has always been towards infants and children. This has led me to the path of choosing a career involving them.
The day was sunny and unusually warm for October. We all piled into a four seater car, some of us sitting on top of each other. Those two hours in that car flew by fast, and before I knew it, we were at Disneyland.
Then it happened the street light changed red, yellow, green then we took off 120 miles per hour my eyes started watering and the breeze took my hair. We went down the runway and started for the cart to go straight into the air. In a slight motion I was suddenly looking straight up into the sky. Our cart was vertical, we went up 420 feet it felt like hours we were up there. Then finally we hit the top, it felt like I was the king of the world, I saw everything up here, Lake Erie was surrounding us. But I couldn’t be the king of the world forever. Then we went straight down 420 feet now I was looking straight down at the ground ready to take the slope down to ground level, now we were back on the ground horizontal. The cart moves forward ready for the brakes to hit the wheels, you could hear all the the people’s heads hit the head rests and then comes the sound, that a train makes when it stops. I hear the “wasn’t that cool, did you like it, wahoo's from the other people riding with us.” That was awesome I tell Seth, Seth liked it
Brick walls are always going to show up in our lives to prove to us how badly we want something. One brick wall that I have faced in my life has to do with when I was younger and played softball. I was the newest member of the team and I had never played the sport before. I was always interested in watching softball, and finally decided to play on a recreational team with my close friend. All of the other girls had played for a few years already, and had grasped the skill. I on the other hand, was just learning all of the skills and wasn’t the best. Each practice, I would really try hard to play at the same skill level as all of the other girls, but it was hard to instantly be good at something new. Eventually, the games started to begin and
A few minutes before we landed at the airport, I looked at the screen in front of me and it showed ‘33°C’. It had been a year since I last experienced that kind of heat and I couldn’t bear it last time, so I wondered how I would cope with the heat this time. As the plane began to slow and turn into terminal, I could hear people around me start to get there belongings together so that they could get off the plane first. People returned the magazines to the rack on the back of the chair in front of them and I turned off my iPod and put it back in my bag. When I took my headphones out, I felt like I was back in the real world now as I had been concentrating on listening to music for hours. It seemed like time was going slower and slower because the plane had stopped and it had parked but the seatbelt light was still on.
During my freshman year of college, I had met one of my best friends, who go by name Jill. (She lives in New Jersey and while I live in Pennsylvania) I found it to be strange that sometimes, it feels like we have grown up with one another but in reality we have only one another for four years and I couldn’t be more thankful. I can remember when we met at school as if it was yesterday.
We both unbuckled. Thomas climbed into the back. Joe released his foot from the gas pedal and his hand from the steering wheel. As the car slowed down it drifted left. Joe positioned himself in the seat and I throw myself to the steering wheel. The car scraped on the side wall ripping the paint. He positioned myself into to the set and as he did that he saw something in the distance. Cars, lots of cars coming their way.
I jumped out of the car with my two sisters and ran to the bathroom. When we left the bathroom, we walked back to the car. We saw that our dad was still putting gas in the car, so we went into the store to buy some sweets. I bought “warheads” that said extremely sour, and a bag of chips called “baked with fire” that looked like they would taste really hot. When we purchased our food, we walked back to the car. As soon as we started driving, I opened my bag of chips. I was so scared that they would be extremely hot. For that reason, I also bought a bottle of water. I opened it before I took a bite out of the chip. Luckily, they were not hot at all! I grabbed my sour candy and tasted it. My face changed so quickly; that I started to squint my eyes and point my lips. I could not take another bite of it because it was really sour! Eventually, I was not hungry anymore. Probably because I ate my whole bag of chips and a sandwich. When I finished eating, I was feeling exhausted, so I took a long nap. I woke up, and dad told me that we only needed to drive for one more hour. While we were driving through town, we saw a row of trees on fire! It was so smoky that we could barely see the street we were driving on. I felt scared for life and terrified that we might crash. After a few more minutes of driving, the smoke cleared up and we could see again. Finally, the hour passed and we arrived in California. Mrs.
