Anh Tran, the owner of the world’s best salon and day spa – Purple Bliss Salon & Spa, is now retired at age 80 after 50 years in the beauty industry.
Anh Tran was born on January 12, 1998 in Vietnam. When she turned 13, her family moved to America. She then continued her education at the local public middle school and later on attended a beauty school in San Diego, California after graduating from high school. “It was a difficult time,” she said. “My dad was quite conservative, and he expected so much from me, which made me feel very pressure. have to continue going to school for at least ten years to become a doctor really frightened me. At that moment, I thought that I had to do everything I could to convince my dad. Luckily, my dad finally gave in and let me go on the path that I wanted.” Anh Tran worked as a part-timer at a coffee shop while attending vocational school to gain experience and earn money. After two years, she graduated from her vocational school and had a license in aesthetic. Then she got a job at a salon and day spa in San Diego, California. After three years of working there, Anh Tran started to have a thought of starting her own business, but since she did not have enough experience and money, her dream got delayed. Using the money that she has saved over the years, Anh Tran decided to take off a few months and travel to Japan and Korea to learn about their spa cultures.
“Since I was little, I got influenced a lot from Asia beauty culture, especially from Japan and Korea. And I always get impressed by their advanced when it comes to beauty technologies and spa. So I wanted to learn from them and bring it to America.” Anh Tran shared her story.
After coming back to America, she borrowed loan and moved to Los Angeles to open a small salon. In the period of time of five years, she paid back the entire loan and also expanded her business to a bigger salon and included day spa. She also imported machines from Japan and Korea to improve her spa’s service. As her business was on the rise, in 2030, Anh Tran opened a salon and day spa with the same name, Purple Bliss Salon & Spa, in Vietnam and let her sister, Hieu Tran, managed it.
The spa became a hit as for its advance and located at a vacation spot. In 2044, Purple Bliss Salon & Spa was awarded as the best customer service. In 2057, Purple Bliss Salon & Spa had expanded to over 10 countries and held the title of one of the best spas in the
world. Yesterday, Anh Tran had just celebrated her 80 birthday with her loving family and declared that she will be retired and let her daughter, Emily Tran, to take over her position.
