Personal Narrative: Playing With Fire

Playing with fire is bad, they taught me. Problem is, it's fun. There's also the fact that if you tell a child not to do something, they will do it. It's just human nature to be curious, you can't take that away.
Now, most parents wouldn't let their children near a lighter, or any fire source for that matter. I am a different case. It was lunch time and I had taken apart a barbeque lighter on the table. My parents and sister were eating lunch there as well. The next thing I did was started to release a steady stream of gas and put the gas tube next to a candle, a small flame emerged. It was too miniscule for my liking, so I took my freezing cold bottle of butane and filled it up. I was too excited to notice the fuel gushing out at

an alarming rate.
I opened the valve and hiss came out the butane. I put the end of the pipe to the candle and whoosh!!! There were a lot of things happening, my mom screaming, my hand hurting, and my sister running away. My hand was engulfed in flames as hot as the sun. To figure out how many flames, imagine your regular lighter, now picture it burning all of its fuel at once. My father took action as fast as a hawk and while I dropped the lighter he used the tablecloth to fling the lighter outside. The fire burned out as I examined my shaking hand. No burns!
To be honest if my father hadn't taken action the way he did, my hand would have been severely burned and the house could have gone down in flames as well.
