After getting the chance to play soccer in different places around Los Angeles, I got the oppourtunity to meet people with different level of skills and dedication to the game. I used to play in a co-ed league at Santa Monica every Sundays but stopped due to time restraint. In this paper, I will be talking about three players that I interviewed and played with for a short period of time. In addition, I will be comparing and contrasting them to each other and have an assumption of who the best player can be.
Ahmed Al-Ali is a 26 years old soccer player that loves to play in defense due to his muscular physique. I had the opportunity to play with and against him in my time playing at the coed league at Santa Monica. I asked him a few questions

I first met him when a friend of mine told me that he needed extra players for a free play match in Lake Balboa where it is close to where I live. His style of play consists of agility and stamina with great dribbling skills. I asked him the same questions I did to Ahmed. He said due to the fact that he’s in high school and that he plays with the high school team, he feels that it is mandatory for him to train everyday and to watch videos in YouTube to learn new skills. He trains 5-6 times per week and does cardio every day. His body is thin in terms of comparing it with Ahmed’s, but he’s taller and great in headers. His favorite team is Arsenal and unlike Ahmed, he never misses a game. He argues how hard it is for him to wake up early morning to watch his favorite team play. When I asked if he’s considering soccer as a career, he said that his dream would be to become an airplane pilot, but if that didn’t work out, he would leave soccer as his second option. He said soccer is fun but I don’t want it to be my life. Rating Andy was tough because if he is good in attack, he would lack in defense and he would use be running around the field chasing the ball rather than playing with precise vision. I would give Andy 9/10 for skills and 6/10 for body and
While I have developed my soccer skills over the years, the relationships I have built with people are treasured more than my ability to play the game. Playing soccer has granted me the opportunity to be surrounded by an extensive family of people who truly love me. I am forever indebted to the sport for bringing me into love-filled relationships with players and coaches alike.
Living in Haiti comes with its perks, growing up surrounded by soccer being one of them. As a child, my godfather could constantly be seen kicking a ball around, always in his element when on a field, according to my father. His passion for the sport was exceptional, and so, he decided to continue expanding the sport and his love for it by starting the FC Toro soccer club. Likewise, I can see that passion in the eyes of first younger brother every day, working hard to accomplish his dream of someday becoming a professional soccer player. And so, when my godfather proposed to start an all-girls soccer team, I was zealous to be a part of it. Today, soccer is one of the biggest parts of my life, and I am continuously training to improve my
In the world of sport, soccer and football with respect to demographic has had numerous controversies. Although both sport are known famously around the globe, for many years fans from both sides are known for asking, is American football same as soccer? What’s the time limit on both sports? Since football is a form of sport that allows creativity, the use of certain styles like swerving shots and chips separate the champions from the learners. Players like Messi, Neymar, and Christian Ronaldo are some of the most celebrated soccer stars today, thanks to their ability to combine talent and creativity. It was a bright, August day, with a temperature to match. At least 85°, sun outside was at its peak, with not a cloud to be seen for miles. Such a day is almost unheard of in southern Germany, where the weather tends to be milder year round. It was the perfect day to begin the new season, as well as my first match. I had played many games before this day – nine years’ worth in fact. However, they had all been in the United States, where football is the king of sports. Although the atmosphere was similar, there were distinct, yet almost intangible differences. Many devoted soccer fans do exist in the United States, but the aura at many matches seems to be rather lackluster. Many of those present appear to be disinterested, and it is rarer to see a full venue than in Europe. The set up and division of the sport alone set itself apart from the US. Schools do not have sports teams, only clubs and cities do. Most of the players had been with the same coach and team members since they...
