One of the worst trips I remember was when I went to Salinas Victoria with my family a couple months ago. We have some friends in there, and we were going to spend our weekend in a friend’s ranch. Everything was perfect, my dad bought some food to eat when we arrive, our suitcases were made, we had the money, nothing could be bad. We were traveling in our car. My dad’s car is a Cherokee van and we sometimes have problems with it. The problem was that we never thought that we will have it on this trip. When we were in the middle of the highway, our car just stopped. My dad got out of the car to check what was happening. Being honest, I don’t know anything about automobiles, the only thing that I know is we had to put water in the car so we can continue with our ride. My parents were putting water every time that the car stopped (every 15 minutes). …show more content…
Five minutes later, he decided to go to the ranch. I don’t if that was the best decision he has made. So, my dad risked and we took our way, over again, to the ranch. Obviously, the Cherokee was stopping every fifteen minutes. Finally, we arrived. We spent all the day in Salinas Victoria. We talked with our friends, danced, rode horses, feeding the animals in there, etc. Night arrived, and it was time to go. We told to our friends that we were having problems with our automobile, and they offered to help during the
One of the most surprising and uncommon events happened to me in the summer of 2015, Sedona, Arizona. It started out as a pleasant summer getaway; visiting the Grand Canyon, Sedona rock slides, and just having an amazing, memorable time with friends and family. One day, we decided that it would be enjoyable to have a picnic in the forest. The trees were deep green and lush. The tranquil, relaxing stream of a nearby river could be heard, and birds were chirping cheerfully. After lunch, we all decided upon venturing deeper into the forest near the river. On a rock, a single bright, pastel green caterpillar- equipped with unique spikes, caught our eyes. None of us had ever seen such a creature. We were captivated and intrigued. Since we were not
We were driving to the Wakulla Springs Lodge. Mom and Dad wanted to go there before the butterflies migrate. I wanted to go to the movies.
I spent most of my life surrounded by fragrant pine trees, rocky mountains, and sometimes extremely cold winters. At least one year ago, my family and I moved to a place that is the exact opposite of Colorado which was Phoenix, Arizona. Months before moving, we got rid of all clothing that resembled winter apparel because we all knew it was not going to be needed again. When moving to a new location, it the time to embrace new change, different cultures and certainly different weather climates.
It was a murky overcast summer's eve; crisp morsels of rain splashed on the ground vigorously. Sounds of jet engines buzzed in the back of my ear lobes through the torrential downpour. The common sight of the departure time of our flight being delayed yet again caught my eye as we turned the corner towards the gate. Almost an hour later we began to finally line up at the gate to get on the what then seemed massive jet plane. I remember looking out the gigantic floor to ceiling windows at providence airport at the bright blue, red and orange of the jet, so excited to be going on it. Our family carefully chose seats right near the wing emergency exits. I rushed to the window seat, plopped down and buckled my seat belt. I was ready to go to Florida. I barely took up half of the seat, I was 8 or 9, and as a curious kid I was touching nearly anything I could put my hands on. I remember soon after we sat down in the back row on the left of the aircraft the same side as us, I heard a great commotion. A woman at the back was on the phone telling her friend she had drugs and she just took them. Not soon after three men boarded the plane. One had
We walked around San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico a little. Then we went to the ferry that was taking us where to Culebra. It was about 1pm by now. The ferry ride was about an hour and a half long ride. It was raining a little so we couldn’t sit outside of the boat and see the view. I ended up falling asleep for about half the ride. When we finally got to Culebra, we were so happy. It wasn’t raining anymore, the sun was out, and it was beautiful. At the time we didn’t have car so we were kinda stuck there. After a half hour of calling places to see if they had any cars for rental we finally found a place. We rented two big black jeeps for the next 10 days. When we got the cars and we could drive them around, we drove up the mountain to the house we were staying at for the
The trip to Florida over Christmas break was unlike any other. Yes, most people would jump at the opportunity to go to Florida after a winter like we had up to that point. So, let me give you some background on why the trip. Back in July my mother in-law had an epileptic seizure that rendered her in a coma, she has not awoken from and the doctors are pushing to let her go. She has been moved 3 hours from my brother in-laws house to Georgia. Thanks to our lovely health care system, it was the only place available that could take care of her needs. Perfect timing kids are out of school and it is a good time to travel so you would think. I have been out of work
... to the ocean to relax, socialize, and enjoy food and drinks on me. At the end of the night, everyone I had brought together was very thankful that I organized the trip because we had the chance to enjoy everyone’s company given that we do not all get to do that very often.
Both ‘Compass and Torch’ and ‘Anil’ illustrates the theme of family relationships in numerous ways and we have seen a development of this idea in both short stories. The relationship of the families have been dominate through both pieces and Ridjal Noor and Elizabeth Baines have used different techniques to demonstrate this such as; symbolism, personification and emotive language. Both texts are written in narrative to give the reader multiple perspectives of the events taking place within the text and already from the two titles we can tell the two short stories are distinct but we can also interpret key points from the title. The title ‘Anil’ is the name of the character which indicates that this character is different and special from
Hi boys! It’s Nicole here, your correct choice for a bubbly blonde escort in Vegas. What do you think about these photos? Modeling was always my dream, but at 5’7”, I was just a little too short. But my love for the camera has only grown over time. I’m 23 now, and I’m learning that being behind the camera is even more fun than being in front of it. I learned so much just watching the photographer as he adjusted the lights to reflect just perfectly on my honey blonde hair. He smoothed my long, blonde ringlet curls so they laid softly, alluringly on my shoulder, and he tilted my chin so that my emerald green eyes caught the bright beams. I think he captured so much more that day than the physical makeup of my face and body. If you look closely, you can almost see a tiny glimpse into my soul.
Growing up, I was very fortunate to have hard-working, loving, and supporting parents who provided my sister and I with a good life. A good life to me means having a roof over our head, meals everyday, an allowance for our basic needs, and family trips every so often. Last year on November 1, 2014 my mother Sandra and I decided to go to Los Angeles, CA to get some shopping done and have a nice meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Once we arrived to Los Angeles, we witnessed so many homeless people on the streets who are living in their tents and asking people for change at all times. This struck me because often times one does not realize how fortunate they are until they witness others who are struggling on a day-to-day basis begging
I finally made it to the lower part of SoCal where I've been meaning to go for over three years. There's been a "thing" (not that thing like in the doo wop song) set in my mind that San Diego would put an instant smile on my face, but for some reason I never found the right excuse to take a day or weekend trip. Like geez, maybe shut up and go Jo?
Reconnaissance in The City That Reads Change may be difficult at first but realizing that things happen for a reason can make experiences memorable for a lifetime. Experiencing a new city allowed me to learn more about myself and develop characteristics that would motivate me to succeed in life. Moving to Baltimore, MD was a pivotal moment in my life because I developed into the person that I am today. Although the change was not easy, I am grateful and blessed to have experienced a thrill of a ride in a city where I had least expected to live in. Living in Charm City changed my life because I immersed myself in a different culture and environment, I began to improve academically in school, and I discovered hobbies that made
While walking by the shore I was amazed by the soft smooth sand beneath my feet, it seemed like all the worries I had throughout the year were finally erased. There was a rock facing the ocean that it thought was really cool, so I decided to settle there for a moment to appreciate the view, I closed my eyes for a second letting myself comforted by the sounds of the ocean, the sounds the waves were making against the rocks was impressive. Spending a few more minutes on the rock I decided to go back. Tying to help my parents for making breakfast, they sent me and my brother to get bread, and a few croissants at the bakery. My brother was driving while I was still wondering the landscape, I thought it was interesting how this island contained a mix between mountains, and beaches. At the table, conversations were spontaneous and positives, I forgot how fun breakfast could be when spending with family. That day we had has a plan to go to the beach, my mom could guess what me and my father had in mind. It was scuba diving and hunting with harpoons, but before we had to first buy the necessary equipment, and study the fishes we could hunt, since some were protected, and review the fishes that were edible. Finally done with preparation we headed to the beach, me and my dad waited that day for so long, being a big fan of hunting, I was quite impressed by the number of variety the Mediterranean Sea could provide, also what really shocked
It was close to four o’clock in the morning and we were tired. We met up with my dad at the airport and grab us a taxi. As we leave, we drive by a desert that was completely surrounded with sand. Passing through we made it into the city, looking at the flashing lights and buildings that stood tall. It was too early to go out and explore, we needed our rest. As we walk into our hotel, it was like walking into an expensive apartment. With its very own kitchen, washer and dryer, and a patio to top it all
Now we had to make the long trip back to Mrs. Tina’s house. It was such a long day, and we were extremely tired so we decided to skip dinner. We took showers, put on our pajamas, brushed are teeth, and went to bed. Over the next few days we went to the beach, had picnics in the park, went bike riding and skating, and took a trip to the mall. We had such a fun week, but now it was time to go home. So, we thanked Mrs. Tina and her family for being so generous and welcoming to us. We told them that they would have to come visit us so we could return their kindness they showed us. So, we gave them hugs and kisses and we headed back to Las Vegas.
