When anyone is at a calm state or relaxing they have different things they think about. Whether that is a beach, or a calming sunset it is all your personal preference.
When I was 6 years old i went on a vacation to Hawaii with my family. I instantly fell in love with the clear beaches to the amazing cliffs. On our second to last day in Hawaii our tour guide took us to a famous waterfall in Maui called “Pools of ‘Ohe’o”. The minuet I layed eyes on all the hills and water I felt at peace. I was fascinated at the way these rocky cliffs have running water, and it wasn’t man made, it was all natural. Whenever I am stressed out with anything I just take my mind back to the day that my family and I saw the Hawaiian waterfalls and it puts me at
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
A significant moment in her life was the time she moved from Hawaii to Colorado. It was not a smooth transition between two completely different places. Nevertheless, she would manage to fall in love with Colorado just as much as her Hawaiian home.
Imagine having the ability to switch off our minds after a stressful day. Would you do it? The sad reality is that stress is extremely common, and we can’t just turn off our thoughts and emotions whenever we feel necessary. Instead, we focus on challenging ourselves to take these moments as learning lessons. Then, in life’s hardest moments we look for guidance to find new appreciations for life, new discoveries about ourselves, and to make peace within. In “The Peace of Wild Things” by Wendell Berry, he discusses the connection between peace and nature to the key of one’s happiness. While imaging a new life and surroundings for himself, he can accept and appreciate his ability to find harmony in his civilization. The message being that stress
The feeling of stress is inevitable to avoid and remove entirely from our lives. As we go through life and our stress levels rise, for various reasons, resulting in the feeling of worry, anxiety, insomnia, etc. We search for strategies to assist with decreasing the feeling of stress or to better help cope with it. Coping is defined as “managing taxing circumstances, expending effort to solve life’s problems, and seeking to master or reduce stress” (p521). Individuals perform a wide range of different activities to help manage stress and decrease its effects such as working out at a gym regularly, attending routine social gatherings, and reading books. One stress reducer that our society often overlooks is nature and its benefits. There have been studies on forest bathing, which involves walking a forest trail or sitting on a boulder and observing nature with all five senses, that proves to minimize stress.
Vacations aren't always perfect there is always something that goes wrong. At least in my experiences. A perfect vacation to me is when we are all together as a family, which honestly doesn't happen that much. Having a 20 year old brother an 18 year old in post secondary school can make things complicated. Or having a vacation with no,ILLNESS, which can be very, very hard to do!! And I know I’m not the only one who has experienced this on a vacation!
Close your eyes for a minute and imagine what I’m about to tell you. Imagine yourself on a boat slowly swaying back and forth, feeling the wind in your hair, the smell of the salt in the air. Sounds relaxing, right? Now imagine heading to a nearby
It was the middle of winter, and to get away from the cold my family and I decided to take a vacation somewhere warm and enjoyable. We decided to go to Florida and enjoy the warm and beautiful beaches. I pictured the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It was my first time visiting the ocean, and all I hoped for was the ocean to be as beautiful as the pictures I had seen of it. As we arrived at Clearwater Beach in Florida, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place was rising. I couldn’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, and feel the soft sand between my toes.
Hectic and busy lives seem to be the norm and a major part of today’s world. People are always rushing to get things done, whether it is a project deadline or just keeping up with the pace of life. These time constraints are usually related to external influences in our lives – work, school, traffic, family, friends and/or life in general. All these factors create drama in life and lead to stress; however, some people have higher levels of stress than others. Stress is not healthy; in fact, it has been proven to cause serious health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, depression and even death. Sometimes, people just need to get away from the stresses of life, do something different and just RELAX!!! This may involve taking a day off from work or the stressor in life, going to the beach or some other place, getting a massage, or anything else to escape the stressor. What many people do not realize is there is something usually not far away that can relieve stress – nature.
Being surrounded by nature and its beautiful scenery can have profound effects on a person’s state of mind and emotional well-being. For me, there’s nothing more motivating and relaxing than sitting on a beach and enjoying the sound of the waves. At those moments, I don’t feel the need to text, or check my Facebook, or even to call my friends out of boredom. At those moments, I feel like my head gets cleared of every negative thought it was once plagued with and I become motivated to experience new things and help others in whatever they need help with. At family gatherings, I listen with fascination when adults start talking about their younger days, before Facebook and social media and the internet, about how they never used to stay indoors.
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
Everyone has a place where they feel all the weight lifted off their shoulders. When you 're at that special place all the worries in your life suddenly feel gone. At times you may see paintings or hear songs of it. For me, my happy place to escape reality is the beach. The beach is more than just a vacation spot, it’s a place full of serenity.
In my perfect life, I live on a golf course, par 72, which inevitably gives me the satisfaction of hitting golf balls into devouring pits of sand. At the same time, that golf course, with those pits of sand, is the same course where I can escape reality. When I finish a round of golf in the late afternoon, a time free from spectators, foursomes, or geese, I feel fulfilled and tranquil. It is therapy at its best. Living about five minutes from the beach, I also find perfection. This offers anything from surfing with the dolphins, placing my cold feet in warm sand, or sailing past the second island. The adrenaline rush I experience as I lean over the side of a catamaran with 20 knots of wind at my sail is breath taking. The same feeling comes over me as I surf in the pre-dawn or late hours of the afternoon when I am subjec...
Calming my mind by hiking is one of my favorite things to do in my leisure time. I become so content from being able to forget about the usual troubles that are constantly bouncing around inside my head. Not having to worry if I will be able to get my rent in on time, or worry about if I remembered to lock the front door, which I so often forget to do, it frees my mind up for more happy and productive thoughts. Walking for days alone in the woods brings me such euphoria. A high comparable to one someone would get off of taking amphetamines. Although it may seem like a contradiction to my prior statement about being having a free mind, but when my mind is like this I can focus on so many things. Issues I had before don 't seem like issues anymore, the
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
