Many of my fellow classmates have had previews experience with teaching in foreign countries and within the United States. That was not the case with me, I had never taught before and I had limited experience when it comes to teaching. At first I have to admit that I was nervous and scared about teaching, especially because I have a foreign accent. I thought that my foreign accent was going to be an impediment and that my tutee would not understand my teaching. Whenever you first start teaching or tutoring there are many things that might go into someone’s head but things were not as I thought they were going to be. The first day of tutoring my tutee, Linda, I was really nervous and excited at the same time. I didn’t know what to expect but I was eager to learn new things. Linda was really nice and friendly, which helped me feel calmer and relaxer. She was eager to get help and I was eager to teach her. The only preview experience I had was in my Introduction to TSL class that I took last semester. During my class, Introduction to TSL, the amount of practice I had creating handout and activities for TSL students was short and limited. This Tutoring assignment gave me the opportunity to practice creating handouts and activities for my tutee. I don’t consider myself an export at creating handouts but I have gain more experience than I had previously had last semester. Not only did I learn to create handouts but I also learn to find different resources online that help me in order to create my handouts. Been able to find resources and gathering different resources in order to create original and useful handouts is important when it comes to teaching. Tutoring help me gain more knowledge and having a understanding of what it means to teach non-native English

As the dull scent of chalk dust mixes imperceptably with the drone of the teacher's monotone, I doodle in my tablet to stay awake. I notice vaguely that, despite my best efforts in the shower this morning after practice, I still smell like chlorine. I sigh and wonder why the school's administration requires the students to take a class that, if it were on the Internet, would delight Mirsky (creator of Mirsky's Worst of the Web), as yet another addition to his list of worthless sites. Still, there was hope that I would learn something that would make today's first class more than just forty-five wasted minutes... It wouldn't be the first time I learned something new from the least likely place.
I believe that the most valuable lesson learned for me through my experience was that it is completely different when you have to come into school having the mindset of an educator rather than just a student; meaning that there is much more to focus on as a future educator rather than just being a student. For instance, as a student, you typically go in there and worry about just learning the lesson and completing the assignments for your own benefit. With the mindset of an educator, there are far more things going on in your head besides the lesson of the day. For example, you have to constantly wonder whether students are able to understand the lesson and whether your methods of teaching are effective. You also wonder how your class learns best since not all students learn the same. So, you have to have a variety in your teaching so that each student is able to feel comfortable at certain points of your assignments and teaching skills. One of the least valuable things I learned from my field experience was traditional note taking and lectures. I say this because it is something that I grew up knowing in my classrooms when I was a students. I believe that learning new ways to teach is extremely beneficial and I enjoy seeing more and more teachers incorporating this into their lesson
I remember that day when I received a call from Carteret Schools District, and the lady told me, “I was selected for the position of Bilingual teacher.” That day was the best day for me, and I was so proud of myself by choosing a teaching career as I always wanted to be a teacher, and this realization came to me when I was in the high school. However, when I started this career I realized that I have to travel this journey with strong vigor and motivation. In the end of every day, I love to reflect on the strategies that I used with my students were successful or not. If not, what are the reasons behind that? Every day is not the best day for me; however, as a teacher I can understand that a person can learn from her/his mistakes. I always consider my weaknesses, and try to turn into strengths as we all know hard work, motivation and dedication are three essential ingredients to become a successful teacher.
The first day of field marks the beginning of a new teaching experience, and for that reason, the first day of field will forever be a nerve-wracking day for me. On September 13, 2016, I, Mr. Cataldo began a new teaching journey, at Carlstadt Public School, a suburban school, in Carlstadt, New Jersey—Mrs. Mariano’s sixth-grade language arts literacy classroom. While walking through the front doors of the school, numerous questions began to come to mind, such as the following: Will Mrs. Mariano and her students feel comfortable with my presence in their classroom? Will I establish a positive relationship with Mrs. Mariano and her sixth-grade students? Albert Einstein once said, “The only source of knowledge is experience” (Albert Einstein Quotes, para.1). Today, I am fully aware that in life, one’s personal and professional experience, both good and bad, enables he or she grow as a person and more importantly as a learner. Learning is a vast processes and this starts from the time when we first open our eyes to see the world. Later complicacy starts as we grow up and learning forms a particular path to tackle this complicacy. This process is formed by the human being and human being only followed this path and he is still following. Learning is basically knowing something that is not known before or rather doing something which is not done before. It could be learning through teaching or experience. Thus learning is combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. When they put theoretical knowledge to practical use and is able to get some result out of the same. Learning has got various purposes, knowing the difference between different learning stages, evaluating ones strengths and weaknesses, develop action plans. Learning styles lead to self development. Self-development is basically personal development. It is about improving personal knowledge, skills and performance. And personal development is only possible if someone completes the learning cycle. The supervised work experience was for the students to experience their theoretical knowledge into practical work. This training has also helped me in knowing my strengths and weakness. SWE is very important for any hospitality management student as it helps them to learn better and more about the Hospitality Industry. In this essay I will show the different learning styles and also how I have developed myself during my training at the Marriott Dalmahoy, Scotland.
Being part of this study abroad was an experience unlike any other. That is to say, I experienced parts of my own culture that I had by no means witnessed before and I returned to the United States with a superior knowledge of my cultural roots. Similarly, as an educator after a week of teaching in Las Clavellinas I’ve gained an immense amount of understanding that would have taken me years to acquire in a traditional classroom setting in the United States. Consequently, this study abroad has confidently equipped me as an educator as I commence my teaching residency and for the real-world once I graduate and begin teaching.
The stimulations were really eye opening. I was able to see through the eyes of a child with a learning disability in different areas. I always understood that children who have learning disabilities learned differently, but I didn’t imagine how extreme the difference could be. The problems were hard for me and became frustrating. I now know firsthand how frustrating it can be for students who have learning disabilities in different areas. It’s amazing what extra time or shorter questions can do to help increase understanding. I realize that some things that come naturally to me may be extremely difficult for someone who learns differently. As a new teacher, I will make sure to teach children strategies and develop assignments that increase student understanding.
I think I have changed, but I really don't think I changed that much. I have become more proficient in my class particpation, because I wouldn't want to discuss my answers, because I thought they were to dumb of an answer. Also I was shy to speak out unless they are talking stuff about me. I also have inproved in my organization skills. I improved by it becayuse I steryted to use folders now instead of binders, because I can make each folder into my class, and when I use my binder it would also get messed up. I also liuke it because they're different color for different classes. I have become better at completing my assginments because I have notice that when I don't do them correctly or turn them in when it's do then my grade would go lower.
Ms. Gruwell and Lydia have been in situations that have put them in a lot of stress and there are some things that are similar and different to their situations. Ms. Gruwell and Lydia had help from their friends to get them through their problem. Ms. Gruwell had students that showed her that they appreciated her very much, and that they wanted her to teach them for the whole year. At first Ms. Gruwell’s students thought her class was going to be boring and a waste of time, but after a bit, they started to like her class and got very interested in reading books. Some students told Ms. Gruwell how interested they were in reading and Ms. Gruwell was very joyful to hear that. Although they both had friends to help them, they both were in very different
As the time approached, my attitude toward student-teaching was one of confidence and in some ways overconfidence. I believed that I was equipped with all of the tools necessary to be a superior teacher. Little did I know what truly goes on behind the scenes of a teacher. Between grading papers, attending meetings, and preparing lessons, I would often feel overwhelmed. Still, student teaching would prove to be much more valuable than I anticipated. It would teach me to appreciate the wisdom of mentors and experienced teachers, value or being organized and prepared, and lastly the resilience of students.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve oneself.
There is one question that I had at the beginning of the school year that I feel I have answered. I kept asking myself if I would be ready to lead a class as a student-teacher by January. I do not know if I will make few or many mistakes, if I will find the experience exhilarating or overwhelming, or if the students will cry or cheer when I leave. I do know that I am ready to try and I will welcome whatever comes in the student teaching experience. I am anxious to implement theory, try out my ideas, and move to the next level of teaching where the stakes, and the pay-offs, are so much greater.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
