Personal Narrative: My Trip To Washington D. C.

I live in a small town with simply 576 people and one traffic light, my school consists of an even less amount of students (including middle schoolers). although my city is tiny and my school is even smaller, we continuously come together as a community and work to make a greater impact within the world. I’m apart of this organization/class known as student government association (SGA). In SGA we are the organizers of most of our school’s events; (including but not limited to) pep rallies, homecoming events/dress up days, teachers appreciation week, and prom. One year (2016), we were presented with the opportunity to fly to Washington, DC to attend a Leadership experience and Development (LEAD) Conference.

I packed my luggage a week early

was a tremendous experience to see the monuments and what each and every one of them represents, however it absolutely was also quite an exhausting trip. The walk from monument to monument once we toured the capital building was exhausting largely because it's extremely cold in D.C. in the winter, therefore if you wish to go i might suggest you wear a winter coat or something warm. I regretted that day that I didn’t any glove warmers with me on the tour because once we got out from the Capitol i believed i was getting ready to die from freezing to death. we started with the Washington Monument (A structure on the Washington Mall, over 5 hundred feet tall, built in the nineteenth century in honor of George Washington ¹.) we started here because that’s the first thing you see once you glance up. Such an excellent centerpiece to focus on President Washington, who is one amongst the centerpieces to the United States`

I kept reminding to myself Martin Luther King Jr. has stood specifically where I was standing!

Pulling out a street and metro map will show you the best routes from monuments to museums to the metro ². we then took the subway to the National Air and space museum This was so very cool. I was amazed by seeing all the spaace vehicles that are used! Smithsonian natural history museum I got lost here—so big! Out of all the amusing things in there, my favorite part was the dinosaurs—Sorry, had to let the child in me pop out at some point!

After that, we visited the U.S. Capitol I didn’t get in on account of activists standing around the entrance, however I did like the the sight of the building!

Finally, White House My last stop! I enjoyed the walk to the White House—which was an extended way! I liked the very fact that it was the actual one, in contrast to the white homes my group and i were passing by on the way to Washington D.C. I stood at the gate for a number of minutes and questioned if President Obama was home and if he would walk outside to play fetch with his dog, however reality set in and therefore the only individuals I saw was
