The feeling of excitement and exploration ran through me as I saw the beautiful sight right before my eyes. I was gazing into a field at the edge of the woods with the sunset setting and the wind gently rustling the leaves of the fall trees. I was hunting with my father on that Fall afternoon. He also felt the same feeling I felt, the feeling of adventure. Even though we knew where we were, we had gotten there by foot through the woods. This made me feel like a colonist in early American History. This event made me begin to want to see new and beautiful places. I used to not think too much about vacations until then, but from then on I saw them as opportunities for adventure and fun. After this event I was fortunate enough to take beautiful …show more content…
Just travelling all the way down to Florida was an opportunity to see new things. While on the way down there I got to travel through four different states and saw how their geography differed from one another. Once we got there we were reunited with my great aunt and uncle that we hadn’t seen in years. They showed us the best places to eat around town. I remember one restaurant we went to didn’t look like it would be any good. However, the seafood there tasted so fresh and crisp it was unlike any other seafood restaurants I had been to. The food was not the only thing that made Panama City Beach different from all the others. Snorkeling was an adventure that we took while we were down there. There was a designated swimming pond on one of the beaches. It was called a swimming pond because rocks formed a half circle making the water calm between the rocks and the shore. The waters were clear so you could easily see creatures from the ocean below you. This leads me to talk about how gorgeous the beaches were down there. I remember the first time I walked out on one of the beaches, it looked so different. The sand was white as snow and the water was crystal clear! I had never seen anything like it in my life. When my foot first stepped on that white sand, I felt like I was on an island far away from the modern day rush. The air was …show more content…
We went up to the mountains with my youth group and stayed at a house near Boone, NC. The first thing I remember about this trip was how almost all of the houses in the mountains were hidden from sight. When driving down the road, they were so hidden by trees, they could barely be seen. Many of my friends went on this trip as well. We frequently went fishing in a nearby pond after dinner. I tried two new things while I was there. The first thing that we tried new was skiing at Sugar Mountain. Skiing was hard at first but then I got the hang of it. I never left the beginner hill because the rest of the hills made me nervous to go down. As the ski day went on, the once soft white manmade snow started to turn into ice. At that point I stopped skiing because it simply became too dangerous for me. The second new thing that I tried was kayaking. Kayaking was definitely the most fun thing I did while I was there. I simply say this because I truly enjoyed it. Riding down a river in a kayak can be so peaceful. While riding down a nearby river I really began to see how beautiful it was in the mountains. I loved hearing the sound of the moving water on either side of me. Catching the right currents at the right time really made kayaking fun for me. Being able to kayak with my friends and family only made the new experience even more
I have been to Florida a billion times, but there are only two places that I normally visit. Sanibel Island and Destin. Traveling to Sanibel Island is almost like a tradition for my family because every year we try to go down there. My grandparents first went to Sanibel with my whole family (cousins and all) about 15 years ago and ever since then, it has been our family’s main “vacation spot”. I have gone to Sanibel almost every year, but last year I also went to Destin. Now the main reason we decided to go there as well is because we wanted to travel somewhere nearby the panhandle of Florida. The water and beaches are also very contrasting in comparison to Sanibel. Sanibel’s beaches even had heaps of sea shells going out into the water. The sand is also more dense than that of Destin. Even Sanibel’s water is darker and more cloudy, so it was crazy to see Destin’s water so clear! The beach (which is called Emerald Cove, where I stayed at) had sand that was so white and soft it
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
If I were to go anywhere for just 12 hours it would be Tikal, Guatemala. It’s so pretty and green there with lots of unique animals like monkeys, parrots, coatis and turkeys, which you can only see at zoos in America but in Guatemala they just roam around everywhere in the jungles. The weather is very nice as well, It is always warm and very humid but it feels great. It is an awesome place to learn new things, volunteer to help people that are in poverty since it is a third world country, and it's an awesome place to relax and have a good time! Guatemala is very family friendly and people of all ages will enjoy anything you decide to do. It's very different than anything that there is in the United States.
My aunt and cousins were so excited to tell us that they are spending their spring break in Colombia. I was jealous. I have traveled all around the world but I haven’t gone to South America and visit the country where I am from. It has always been a dream of mine to visit Colombia. I mentioned it to my mom and she shared the same dream. The next week my mom comes to tell me that we will be going to Colombia. I was so happy nothing could ruin my excitement. She tells me the date. It was after my spring break. My smile turned into a frown. That would mean that I would be missing days of school. I have never missed a single day of school in my life. When I was sick, got into an accident twice and even when my mom
My first time in the mountains was when my dad, my cousin Hope, and I went to Denver over the summer. We went hiking up in the mountains, and stayed in a cabin. The drive to Colorado seemed like it took forever, but it was worth it. When we first arrived in Denver, and when I saw the mountains I was amazed because it was the middle of summer; hot, humid, and sunny, but the mountains still had snow on them. I couldn't stop looking at them because it was beautiful with the sun shinning, blue sky with a few clouds, and the grayness of the mountains with the white snow on the peaks just stood out.
I had just got my camcorder for my birthday, so I filmed everything I saw. My family and I went up to the top as we watched the ship sail off. They pushed us off the dock and we said our bon voyages. The first day was a sailing day at sea. I was used to the thirty degree Tennessee and now we were in seventy degree weather. We lay out on the deck and I swam in the pool. Dinner was my favorite part. You can order whatever your heart desires and the dessert was splendid. Though the dessert cleansed my sweet craving I enjoyed the bread just a little more. The French bread on the cruise is the part I miss the most to this day. The first port day arrived and our adventure was touring the Mayan Ruins. I was an unhappy child, so I was not amused with the tour. It was extremely hot and we just looked at these pyramids. I was uninterested for sure. My favorite part of the tour was being able to swim in this hole. Apparently the hole did not have a bottom from what scientist have found. There were the little menos who sucked your feet. It felt weird, but the water was refreshing. Our last port day was in Cozumel. We planned to go zip lining and
“Pato … Pato … Pato …. GANSO!” The words pierced the warm, stagnant air, followed by a brief flurry of footsteps circling me like a shark stalking its prey. For the first time in a long time, I was lost in the moment. It seemed so surreal, yet I knew that it would be a moment I would never forget.
I walked in the sweltering summer heat as the Florida breeze hit my face. I walked into the big gates and breathed in the warm summer air, and I looked to my parents and said, “Wow, we are really here.” The smell of the cotton candy and the Mickey Mouse shaped balloons caught my attention when I first walked into the park. It was like a fairy tale story. I saw everything that I imagined as a child.
Kyrill Goncharenko English Composition Trip to Guatemala The beginning of summer followed by one more year of High School. That summer I would visit Central America, more specifically Guatemala. I could not wait as it would expose me to a culture that I have never experienced and I was looking forward to it. My mother visited Guatemala the year before and she loved it.
The water was just as I had hoped: perfectly clear and warmer than I imagined. The sand was almost as white as paper. Being on that beach was a serene and cathartic experience. Even though we were in our room for a minimal time, I can still remember it today.
During that month, my family decided to plan the trip because we had heard that the trip would satisfy not just myself, but everyone coming along. On a hot Sunday morning, we flew from Dallas to Florida and jumped onto the connecting flight to the Bahamas. Our arrival was grand. Being greeted by so many people in the kindest way was unforgettable!
As if sailing across the ocean wasn't gorgeous enough, it got 10 times better once we arrived to this island. The water was crystal blue, and I could see my pink pedicure on the bottom of the ocean even if my feet were 6 feet deep. We booked an excursion to swim with stingrays, and spend the rest of the day on the beach. Swimming with stingrays was something that I never wanted to do, but ended up being an experience I'll never forget. Stingrays feel like sandpaper on the top and a baby's bottom underneath. The amount of fear that was racing through my entire body was indescribable, along with the adrenaline going through my veins. The time that we spent on the beach was spent in the water, and being amazed by the large Iguanas prowling around us. The reefs in the ocean made this beach the most gorgeous view I have ever laid my eyes
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
Towards the end of 1989, my family and I were on vacation in Fort Myers, Florida. We drove from Trenton, New Jersey all the way to Florida where my grandfather lived. It was a long trip to undergo, especially being six years old and knowing that my father never stopped the car. By the time we arrived at Fort Myers, it was a beautiful sunny day. The wind was gusting enough to pull my hair back, and I was admiring the palm trees, coconuts, and lizards near the Gulf of Mexico. The first few days were nice, but little did I know that I would soon be caught in the middle of a twister.
