The summer of 2016 was full of fun activities my family and I participated in. My favorite thing we did was take a vacation to Colorado. Every year we go there during the winter to ski and snowboard. Colorado is a beautiful state that I had never seen in the summer. The main reason we went to Colorado was to visit colleges for my older brother, Hunter. We did go to schools but the most memorable part of the trip was the activities we did and the time spent with my family. We began the trip on July 1st. I was ready for a vacation with my mom and two brothers! Unfortunately my dad couldn't come with us because he couldn't get off work. Usually we fly when we are traveling be we drove this time because we were going to be going to many different parts of Colorado. The drive is about sixteen hours from my house. I sat in the back seat and watched Netflix on my phone or IPad most of the time. I also slept a lot because it passes time quickly. We arrived in Breckenridge, Colorado on July 3rd. Our first adventure was going to the top of Peak 8 of Breckenridge. We …show more content…
I did not like it at all. My two brothers had a blast and did it the majority of the day! My mom and I went on the coaster and slide a few more times. We also went on a Jeep Tour. It was a Jeep that drive us all over the mountain. It was really cool to be able to see the ski trails we had skid on last winter without snow. We went to a really fancy place for dinner. After dinner we went to one of our favorite places in Colorado. It is a small stand called Crepes A La Carte. They are the best crepes I have ever had. We go there everytime we go to Colorado. The line is very long, we usually wait for about two hours. My family agreed that it is a lot better waiting in summer than in the freezing cold winter. At night we watched fireworks. They were set off on the top of the mountain so you can see them from anywhere in the town. It was a very good firework
After a great night of sleep we headed out to the world renown mountain of Jackson Hole. It is known for being the steepest mountain on which a ski resort is set up. It is also know for having a great view of Grand Teton, one of the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains. We could not have asked for a better day of riding. there was a fresh 14” of snow under our boards and after a little bit of exploring we found some great out of bounds and woods riding.
Riding down Pikes Peak was one of the best adventures I have ever had, however, it was horrifying at times. Our whole vacation in Colorado was full of adventure. We rode ATVs, went white water rafting, but the best part was riding a bike down Pikes Peak. This was an exhilarating adventure I will never
I can remember everything from that day and still think of it often. The first area we went to after entering the park was a small clearing about a mile from the entrance. It was situated at the base of two mountains. When we arrived a small stream that was flowing down from the mountains, and hiking trails along with an information center. We ventured out on one of the shorter trails, it was beautiful along the trail as it snaked in and out of the trees on the way to the top of a mountain. Small animals such as mice and chipmunks were everywhere. The trail was about a mile long but the incline was steep and going up was difficult and slow.
We finally arrived there. We got there just in time for sunset. So we paid to get in and drove to one of the viewing points. We all got bundled up because it was on 29 degrees. We walked over to the railing that overlooked the canyon. We all stood there watching the sunset and taking pictures.
In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected president of the United States, and aimed to improve the country's foreign policy. During Eisenhower's presidential term, the United States government authorized a CIA-sponsored coup in Guatemala, motivated by America’s desire to contain Communism, our profit being gained from the United Fruit Company, and because of Arbenz’s refusal to join the anti-Communist movement occurring in the Western hemisphere. Firstly, the United States authorized a coup against Guatemala in 1953 as a method of containing Communism. The 1950s in America is marked by extreme fear of Communism sweeping over the world, as shown through the “Domino Theory’’. A theory stating that one country falling to Communism would cause
Candles are lit, cookies are baked, the hot chocolate is hot, snow is falling, now it’s time to get our movie marathon on! The candles added such a warm feeling in the house. As we set up for the movies, I could hear my brothers fight over the last cup of hot chocolate. Even though there was still 3 packets of the coca left. As Sophie and I slipped on our slippers, we went into my warm, nice-smelling room and took polaroid pictures. We were having so much fun, we totally forgot about the movie! We went downstairs and realized we had paused the movie and had panicked over absolutely nothing. This year over Winter Break, I plan to sleep in, play in the snow (if it even snows), and bake with my friends!
The Grand Canyon, it’s truly is grand. The animals, the plant life, and the canyon’s history is something my father and I have been interested in for a long time. My dad, Erik, shows me plant specimens and fossils of animals i’ve never seen before. He once told me there was a type of vulture that are so close to extinction there are only 20 left alive in the world. We visited Arizona to see the Grand Canyon once dad got enough money to go on a roadtrip. I’m so excited to see my friends there, too. I brought so much snacks, maybe too much, and my backpack is kind of heavy for the hiking trip, but I’ll live through it.
Aspen, Colorado, the town I grew up in. The town where I first learned to speak, swim and do many other things. Life in Aspen is perfect. Skiing on the powdered slopes during the winter, hiking grueling mountains during the summer and exploring it’s majestic beauty any season. Aspen’s captivating beauty is also filled with fond memories everywhere that take me back to my childhood: seeing mom bears desperately reaching for the tart crabapples to feed their young, playing volleyball with my brother on the scorching sand, and getting frustrated because I could never hit the ball with enough force to make it over the net, watching the crystallized ice charging to take over the last bit of green left. I had it, the mountains, the snow, the house, I had it all. Although in the summer of 2012 everything changed.
Gone Fishing. It was an exciting day for me, and I didn’t even know what was going to happen. My grandpa came to my house and then he told my brother Luke and I that he was going to take us on a fishing trip to Canada with his friend. We were so excited when he told us I told Grandpa, “This will be the best summer vacation ever!” After he told us we went and got gear like fishing poles, rain suits and food.
I had only been once before, but it was forever ago, and I was excited about going. It did not take too long to get there at all. When we arrived we went and got a bite to eat, and then we bought our tickets. We bought two set of tickets for Sara and me, one to go to Kiddy Land with my niece while my sister and her boyfriend go to the big park and then one for later that night for us to go to the other park after we watch my niece. After a few hours of being there, they had not come and got my niece yet and I ended not getting to go to the big park that is night because they forgot all about me.
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
We watched movies all the way, and only stopped every three hours for a bathroom break. When we arrived in Denver all you could see were homeless people under bridges, smoke coming out of factories and then the mountains. We made it to the hotel and unloaded our bags into our rooms. I was sharing a room with Lanie, Hayley, and Jamie.
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
With no hesitation, we presented this idea to our mother and she backed us up. After much anticipation, it was decided, our 2014 summer vacation would take place in Colorado to enjoy mountains and exceptional music. One would think the highlight of the trip was the concert, however, one could not be any more wrong. The highlight was literally the highest point of the trip. Inching our way up Pike’s Peak to an elevation of 14,115 miles (“About Pike’s Peak”) proved to be quite the adventure.
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
