It was a hot summer morning. Sophie and I hopped into the van as Kevin drove us to go hiking with Arnold, Justin, and Jen. My ears were pleased as Jen started singing with her mellifluous voice even though there were a lot of mondegreen. Her ethereal, angelic appearance never ceases to amaze me. Arnold started singing along, but his voice was so horrible that the car immediately filled with cachinnation. I fell asleep during the long ride and had a dream that I was watching anime when a dove landed on my shoulder. It made me feel at peace, but I woke up from Arnold’s lamprophony. After we arrived to Castle Rock State Park, we read a map since it was our first time there. We started the hike in the hot, blazing sun. I was already sweating even
though we barely made minimal progress. Kevin tried to lead us to a waterfall that I hoped on seeing, but we ended up hiking up a mountain. A large boulder came into sight with a nice view at the top, so my friends decided to climb it. Justin was incapacitated, so he couldn’t climb up with them. I was iffy about climbing it because I am ambisinister. After everyone besides Justin reached the top, I felt left out. They offered me help, so I acquiesced it. Because of Arnold’s motivational words, I was inspired to try harder and push myself. I was rident when I saw the incredulously beautiful view once I reached the top. We climbed down and hiked back down to find the waterfall. A small creek led us to a breathtaking waterfall. Everyone took a dip in the creek except for Sophie because she didn’t want to risk going into a creek that may have pesticide. I experienced a borborgymus since I didn’t have breakfast that morning, so we decided to get out of there. We had no clue which way we’re supposed to go, so we were pretty much lost again. When we made it out of the hiking trail, we went to McDonald’s.
Zig-zag, back and forth, down, down, down, Jonathon, Dad, and I went into a mysterious new world. Now that I have gone into this hot, dry canyon surrounded by monstrous hoodoos, I have seen what it is really like to leave the small town of Seymour, and emerge into the greatness of this world. I have now seen several other National Parks on one of the most renowned places on earth for mysterious creations, the Colorado Plateau. Of all the beautiful places on it, even the Grand Canyon, I have found my favorite one. Bryce Canyon National Park. I thought it was amazing, because it was the most diverse to anything I have ever seen before. We hiked down into it and I felt like I was surrounded by skyscrapers. We trekked around a little, but we didn’t
It was the summer of 2012 and my family was taking another trip to Six Flags Great America. Earlier that summer we went just for me to be disappointed. At the time I wasn’t 54 inches yet and couldn’t ride any of the rides that I wanted to because they were the most popular at the amusement park. But, I hit a growth spurt between trips and we planned to ride all of the big rollercoasters. The one that I was most terrified of at the time was Raging Bull, one of the tallest, fastest, and longest steel coasters in the US. As we started to wait in line for the ride I was shaking with both anticipation and fear and began to rethink my idea to ride the rollercoaster. I decided to stay in line and see what many people thought was a great coaster.
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
Years ago my family took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I chose this common experience for this memory assignment. First, I made a list of all the things I remembered from my trip at Yellowstone. I remembered we traveled in our motorhome and got halfway to our destination and parked on the side of the road and slept there for the night. I remember seeing the famous geyser; Old Faithful, in addition to seeing lots of bison, and bears. I recall one night that we stayed in a campground bears were in the campground and we were being told to stay in our campers. I also remember during the trip my dad would give me all the spare change and I would collect it. I saved the change up to buy souvenirs or candy. I also remember going to a shirt
The Grand Canyon, it’s truly is grand. The animals, the plant life, and the canyon’s history is something my father and I have been interested in for a long time. My dad, Erik, shows me plant specimens and fossils of animals i’ve never seen before. He once told me there was a type of vulture that are so close to extinction there are only 20 left alive in the world. We visited Arizona to see the Grand Canyon once dad got enough money to go on a roadtrip. I’m so excited to see my friends there, too. I brought so much snacks, maybe too much, and my backpack is kind of heavy for the hiking trip, but I’ll live through it.
When she finished with her morning ritual, I took her into the house, gave her a pat on the head, and grabbed my running shoes. My mind was still empty as I walked to my car, hit the automatic unlock button, and put the key in the ignition. I turned the key one click and the electric system forced the radio to blast into my ears. Simultaneously, thoughts I wasn’t aware were there came to the surface as I listened to Cutting Crew sing “I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight.”
My daughters explained to their mother about the Aztec party they were excited to go. I was really nervous I didn’t want to tell them about what I had overheard. But I decided to go take a nap while the girls get ready for the party. They woke me up it was 7:00 pm it was pretty late. I had seen my wife carla she was the most elegant thing I had ever seen. Her hair was up to her waist with the color of brown, with her green beautiful eyes. My daughter Sofia had her mercury red hair with green eyes she was beautiful. My other daughter Amanda was gorgeous, she had her midnight black hair it flowed over her shoulders. When we left our home, we got in our car, I was really nervous I felt something very deep inside of me that something bad was going to happen. We got there around 7:30 pm it was dark. Anyway I had forgotten about the situation, I had seen earlier in the morning.I had to warn the king but the king wasn’t at the party. I came outside of the party to take some cool fresh in my lungs, my hair was long and wavy it would swing across my shoulders like if they were vines from a
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
In life, we encounter different people, ideas, and experiences that influence us daily. These situations help build personality that makes each one of us unique. For me, this life- changing experience was when I encountered nature during my trip to Yosemite National Park 2012. My experience humbled me and changed my perspective towards my existence. As a result, it showed me that I am just a part of this system called life.
I stopped walking and looked up at the faint stars. The seagulls were flying overhead. They were screeching and swooping at the water. I started to wish I were one of them, flying free without any restrictions or limits. I listened to their voice, the screech. Deep down in I could understand what they were saying. I can't explain it, but I was so in love with the moment I thought I saw things as they did. I was in company of animals that had no concept of time, and no worries, and I was contempt with that. I closed my eyes and the faint sun warmed my face, as if shining only for me. The warmth made ...
A few summers ago, I went on a trip with my family to my cousin’s wedding in North Carolina. We ended up driving there and on the way we stopped in Washington D.C. We spent a few nights there, visiting all the monuments and enjoying all the experiences and opportunities the city had to offer. For most of my life, I had always pictured myself living a life much similar to that of my parents; going to college and then moving to New York City to get a job. However, I never felt comfortable whenever we visited New York and I could never picture myself living there. After many trips into New York City, I realized that I had no interest in living there after college and those experiences resulted in me thinking that big cities were not meant for
Personal Narrative - My Dream I picture myself center stage in the most enormous and fantastically beautiful theater in the world. Its walls and ceilings are covered in impeccable Victorian paintings of angels in the sky. A single ray of light shines down upon my face, shining through the still, silent darkness, and all attention is on me and me alone. The theater is a packed house; however, my audience is not that of human beings, but rather the angels from the paintings on the walls come alive, sitting intently in the rows of plush seats. Their warmth encompasses my body, and I know at that moment that it is time to begin.
The grass was soft and green, reserved for those who wanted to lie down or sit. A sweet aroma of flowers overflowed near by like s shinning light, but was hidden by the untrimmed bushes and wildly growing trees. Up above me was the beautiful, high noon blue sky spotted with fluffy, white clouds and airplanes flying by. I emerged into the parking lot and stopped happily as a squirrel under a tree. Hesitating to proceed anywhere further I took a few minutes to treasure the moment of silence and peace. As my girlfriend and I got out of the car to get ready for the picnic, she happened to be distracted by the water; a rhythmic ongoing resemblance of rhythm in her heart. The water was clam and beautiful in every aspect. To me she was like a wave, never stooping to catch attention or go unnoticed. Before doing anything else, we began setting up the picnic. By the time we ware done, her temptation was unbearable and was finally unable to overcome it, consequently she eagerly ran towards the water pulling me right behind her. Each step was like an imprint in my heart, a fossil that would always remain the same and special inside me forever.
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
One of the best family trips that I have been on occurred when I was about 8 years old. My family and I were invited to go on a 4th of July camping trip to Telluride by some family friends that have 5 kids the same ages as our kids. Several other good friends were also invited to join us. We prepared our camping gear, loaded up the car and hooked up our trailer with our Polaris Ranger. The long drive to Telluride was 7 hours and it felt like it took forever because we were so excited to arrive. Even though the drive up their wasn’t fun at all, the reward was great.
