It was a sunny Thursday in April and we had just gotten back from spring break. I was tan, well-rested and I still had in my cornrows that I had gotten done in Aruba. After getting my pizza, my mom told me we were going to the mall as soon as I finished. Slightly confused, I ate my pizza and got in the car. Once at the mall, we looked around the dress section of Lord and Taylor. I picked a fun, ruffled yellow dress. I went to try it on, but it sadly did not fit. While we were walking to put back the dress, a familiar voice shouted, “Surprise!” Shocked, I turned around to see my friend who had recently moved from Minnesota to a rural part in Pennsylvania. I could not believe what I was seeing. Was it just a dream? I stood there, shocked for
After we relaxed for a long time, it was time for me to go and wash off all of the seaweed my hair had collected. I turn on the shower and there is a huge spider waiting for me just sitting there waiting for me. I killed it and then resumed my shower. After I got out and we were all ready leave we didn’t know where to go. Until my sister saw a commercial for this really cool place with alligators and a Ferris wheel, we decided to go there. As we pulled up to the place we noticed that there was an amazing Ferris wheel and I immediately got really excited. But my parents said that I have to wait until after dinner. So we went and ate our amazing dinner and it was so amazing. I ordered the best lobster and crab, it was so
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait
The big day was finally here! I woke up around four in the morning to get my hair and makeup done. I had stayed in Fort Worth at my aunt’s house, since the lady doing my hair lived closed to her. So already it starts to go bad. The lady called in saying she couldn’t make it because her car broke down, so of course I start freaking out. I needed my hair and makeup done a.s.a.p. so I could be on my way home to Jacksboro. My aunt started to call some people she knew and I waited impatiently starting to do my own make up. Finally, after what seemed like forever another lady
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
Coming to Haiti I did not know what to expect. As soon as I stepped off the plane I was filled with mixed feelings on weather I would be able to appreciate and take in an environment that I have never stepped foot in. The air smelled different, the pace felt slower than America and the people appeared to have a communal camaraderie that I have never seen before. The sad part is, my mind was conditioned to expect Haiti to be a sloven third world country, however my time here has proven quite the opposite. I look forward to the adventures and experience awaiting to come.
Did you know there are seven species of sea turtle in the world? Four of which make home on the Salvadoran coast. Throughout my 19 years of living I have encountered a handful of learning experiences. The most significant was when I went to visit my parent's motherland, El Salvador. For those who don't know El Salvador is a small, in fact, the smallest country in Central America. My experience there changed my perspective about life. El Salvador is filled with gang violence and poverty. Making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world. Yet, is also filled with amazing views, delicious foods and beautiful people. In my visit I witnessed how hard the people work for how little they get paid, the struggle of living there, and how little you need to be happy.
It was June 18th, 2007 in Trinidad, CA. It was John, Matt, and I on a journey. We were walking through the woods of the Dry Lagoon State Park on the hunt for “The Thing.” We have been researching this thing for a couple years now and we think that we have narrowed it down to where it could be. It was a nice warm day, and the sun was shining through the branches of the tall trees. The birds were chirping, and I could hear the deer snapping the dead branches that lie on the ground. “Did you hear that?” said Matt. “Yeah, what was it?” I responded, pointing to the area the noise came from, “I think it came from over there.” Matt, John, and I slowly approached the spot where the noise was heard. Suddenly John screamed, “Watch out!” then right as I looked over, there was a huge creature, with dark hair and was at least 7 feet tall.
I was born in Venezuela, and every year my parents tried to travel and take me to new places to meet. When I was around six years old, they told me that they were saving some money and that they were planning on taking me on a trip around Venezuela and other special secret place. This secret place was a surprise, and I remember my mom and dad being so happy when they revealed to me a few months later, that the secret place was Brazil. When they told me this, the first thing that I thought was: Where is Brazil?. When I asked them mi question, they probably laughed at my cuteness before answering my question and told me that Brazil was the country next to Venezuela. They planned to go by car, and because the trip was long, they decided we were going to do some stops in some of Venezuela’s famous touristic places on the way.
Watching cool waters form the beautiful waves hitting the shoreline of the Jamaican beaches, I experienced a vacation that formed one of my life’s most meaningful encounters. In July of 2016, my family went on a cruise to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. At the port, we bought passes to tour the entire Ocho Rios island on a van owned by Jamaican natives. Our driver introduced us to the richer parts of the area. We began the tour in the richer parts of Ocho Rios.

I am a very fortunate kid. I live in a house, I eat three meals a day, and I get to travel the world. I’m fourteen years and I believe you should never take things for granted.
On Wednesday, October 24th, 2012 I woke up eager to go to school like usual, but this day was different. In school we had character counts week with special dress up days. I used to get super excited about these dress up days, but I don't anymore. Anyways, the dress-up day then, was Pop Star Day. I got all dressed up in my favorite boots, jeans with little jewels on the sides, a pink long sleeve shirt, and the vest my grandmother had gotten me for Christmas. I ate my cereal, and took my dog Maverick outside on the leash. My Dad, at the time, had just stepped outside to start up the car. He asked me to tell my sisters that it was time to go. I went inside and unleashed maverick. He bolted to the kitchen. I shut the door to the house, and we
