Three of my personal SMART goals would be Specific, Measurable, and Realistic. Being Specific is a must because I have learned that whatever you put your mind to do, you can do it. If I want to make an “A” in University Success, then I know I must do my work and push to make that “A” rather than saying I want a good grade. Specific goes along with my reason for attending college. I have specific goals in life that I would love to complete and therefore I have to do the work that comes along with it. Being Measurable allows me to stay on track with everything. With my life goals I know by the age of 23 no later than the age of 24 I would like to have my degree to work on bigger things , I set my target and this pushes me to have this completed.
Realistic is a personal SMART goal because I believe once you make a realistic goal you are more than likely able to complete it. Studying has to be one of the biggest challenges that I am going to have to face. Throughout high school everything came easy to me and I never actually knew how to study, so this is something that I have recently been working on. My greatest strength would have to be time management and having all my tasks in line for the week ,and being able to know what I need done and when it needs to be finish. Things that may serve as barriers to my success would be: difficult times during life, feeling like you have gave your all to a subject but you still are not doing enough, or just simply not understanding a class. Three support services or people to assist one overcome the barriers would be friends, WASC, and maybe even a professor. Friends are always good to have talks with, especially if they have went through the same exact thing. Tutoring is offered on campus and WASC is located in the library, so if one is have problems with a subject or maybe needing tips for studying, I would try to see if they could help. If one is struggling in a certain class the professor would probably be open to having a meeting to discuss the problems. All of my professors have where their office is located and a form of contact on the syllabus. If these three do not assist one to overcome the barriers then I believe they could point the student in the right direction.
Can I love? Can I be loved? Am I worthy of love? I am a woman who experienced the anguish of love-loss at a very tender age and these questions capture my prime concern and fear in life. At a young age, I bore the brunt of neglect and abuse from the very caregivers who were supposed to be my protectors. At the age of 16, I was put into foster care. I have experienced tumultuous and dysfunctional intimate relationships in my search for love, connectivity and identity. Now, as a mother, I am learning to give the love I never got.
The final aspect of setting SMART goals is that they must be time bound. Simply, it is necessary to have a deadline for which the goal must be completed. If the deadline is a long way off, set hallmarks along the way. This will contribute to measuring your success and help you to keep moving toward the ultimate goal (KPW, 2010). For example, I only have financial aid for a specific amount of time which means that I must take the time that is needed to pursue my degree because my course has a specific target date as to when everything should be complete.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Within my fifteen and a half years of living, I have experienced many heart wrenching moments that have changed who I am, so many that I stopped trying to keep count long ago. Like most teenagers, the past couple of years have been some of the most confusing, hectic years of my life. I'm at that age I'm trying to figure out who I am, as well as who I want to become. As indecisive as I am, I will more than likely change my mind a time or two, but right now at this very moment, I've finally come to terms with who I really am, and what I would like to do for the rest of my life.
My my personal goals are to get a 27 on my ACT, have a above a 2.8 GPA, and get a basketball scholarship to ORU. I need to jump into college with alacrity.I plan on reaching these goals by working hard and really focusing in all of my classes every single day and making sure I make enough time in my week to study for all my tests I take. Even if I have antipathy for a class I still need to be inquisitive and ask questions.
There are many things that I hope to accomplish and do when I get older. The goals I set for myself are plenty. There are goals that I am very passionate about. For one, I took a public speaking course this spring semester and loved it. There is a point in everyone’s life when they step back and realize “I can’t do this anymore, it’s ruining my life”. Many of my friends have started smoking cigarettes while drinking at a very young age, and continue to use this drug currently and don’t realize the affect it has on their future. While I have been smart enough to avoid smoking, I haven’t been as wise at making decisions when it comes to drinking. The amount of partying I’ve done in college has taken over my life, and has had a huge impact on my grades. Changing my drinking habits and continuing to avoid cigarettes will enable me to be the best I can be for the rest of my college experience.
An easy template to set these goals is to use the S.M.A.R.T goals outlined for us in our textbook. Goals need to be Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and time based (9). One of my smart goals is to save at least $10.00 of every paycheck I get from my new job, so that at the end of the semester, I have $130 more dollars in my savings account. Another one of my smart goals is after graduation, to obtain a job outside of campus, so that I can save at least $50.00 a month for six months to go towards paying off my student loans after the grace period, so I would have at least $1,000 dollars towards paying off my loans. Finally, my longest-term goal is to keep track of my budget for the rest of my life, spend smart and do not get into any more debt than I have to, so that I can live a happy debt free life.

When I set my SMART goal in order to increase my physical activity, the goal was to feel better about myself and to have a clearer mind so that I could do well with my studies this resulted in increasing my physical health and wellness. There were a few challenges of having to force myself to get out of bed even though I was feeling really anxious. I think when making a SMART goal and changing that particular behaviour there will be changes that need to be faced and overcome. These might include psychological, family and work commitments, health challenges and many other duties. Motivation and time management therefore need to be considered when making a SMART goal to make this possible and therefore can succeed in their new behaviour change.
One of the best ways to follow a successful path is to set goals for yourself. They are important to keep yourself on task and to get to a desired point of self fulfillment. The issue can be how to achieve goals in a successful manner.
