Personal Narrative: My Position On Gun Control

My position on gun control is that I am mostly against the idea of restricting what guns people have considering in the constitution it states that we have the right to bear arms which isn’t saying that we are only allowed to have certain weapons. But I feel whether we allow criminals, people with violent history or people in general that shouldn’t have a gun. With that I support the idea of background checks and that if someone has committed a crime in the past they should be prevented from getting that weapon or it should be more difficult than someone who has no history. I also feel that for a country where we the people have a fundamental privilege to have a weapon to protect ourselves that we need to not abuse it, and that people need

to be educated at a young age and that kids need to understand that it isn’t a toy and is very dangerous and that parents need to keep them out of kids reach and have safety locks and have them in safes.
After reading this I want my audience to understand why I think we need to educate kids more on guns and gun safety. Also why I think we need to have background checks and loopholes around our system like getting weapons illegally or going to a gun show and not being forced to have a background check.
Now for my evidence that support my claims. Every day seven kids die from the age of 19 and under. If this is right that means around 2,555 teens and kids die every year which is a pretty scary number and what is even more scary is a lot of these deaths are by accident and happen when the kid gets a hold of the parents firearm and starts playing around with it and accidently shoots themselves. “During 1999, 52% of all murder victims under 18 in the U.S. were killed by guns.” This is pretty alarming because that means a little over half of all murders the people being killed are under 18. Which means that maybe we need to start having our children learning how to protect themselves.
