An achievement that I have done in my life is win the 1st place in the Center Circle tournament. When it happened was in 2013 in December. There were ten teams in total and my team was one of them. We were playing to see which team would get the most points. We had to face nine other teams. The rules of center circle were that you could only wear indoor soccer shoes and not slide. The other rule was that you could not have a person the team that was more than 16 years old. So my team started off with a ruff start we lost the first game six to four. Then the next game was on Saturday and we played at six pm we were vs a team called Iron Bound they said that they were a good team. There was no doubt about it but that didn't stop my team we won at the end five to three. Then after that game we got pumped up and we were in the moment. We were pumped up for the next game and we were on a winning streak. Then we had to vs one particular team named the Bumble Bees. We had to beat them to get to the finals. …show more content…
We knew if we wanted to go to the finals we had to give it our all. There was five more min in the clock it was the corner kick and my friend David was going up for the header and then he hits the ball and goes straight into the net. all you heard was "GGGOOOAAAALLL." We had made it into the finals we won that game five to four. My team was so happy we won the spot to go to the
Once again, the next year, I was on the All-Star team. This time we were all determined to stay in the tournament and win the championship. We started off lousy, though, making four errors in the first game and losing 4-0. We now had to win every game and beat the last team twice. We did defeat every team we went up against, including the team that beat us the first game, and once again ended up in the championship game.
The game was one sided with us scoring early on then again in the second half. The final score was 2-0. I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe that we had won the tournament. At the presentation of the trophy, all I could hear was the parents shouting and screaming, I was so proud to be part of the team.
All I remember was all the girls on my team screaming and running towards me. Luckily, I was at the right place at the right time and headed the ball into the net. I scored the winning goal and it felt amazing. We won the championship!
We were playing against the McAllen High School. I was a starter post on the team we were losing by 10 the first half of the game. We had 5 minutes of halftime the team and I were so upset that we were losing so we decided to pray to gain our confidence back. Once halftime was over starting five went back in we started well with defense once again, we stole some passes, but didn’t make all baskets to catch up to. Until last quarter I made 12 points and I was so happy to make 12 points for the to catch up against our opponent. Our team was still a few behind at the end of the game we didn’t win but I was proud of myself for making those 12 points for the team even if we did not win. My teammates and coaches were so proud of all of us not just me but of each one us for working together not to lose by a lot and not making ourselves look like fools. It was the first since tournaments that I realized that we had a great team that would support each other during a game. Success comes from people who believe in you and support you through things you go through. Success is nor found nor is it a miracle, success is created by you own self from being prepared of how to succeed in life and how you are going to get there because you cannot find success you have to make success find you in. Success is not miracle to be success is something thst
The time on the clock was 4:30 when the doorbell rang, fifteen minutes early. My three teamates were extremely anxious to get to the Center. I opened the front door and to my surprise the whole team was outside in their cars. They were all spiffed up in their shirts and ties, determined to win the game. As I threw my equipment in my friends car I was hoping that the next time I put it in there I would have a championship medal hanging around my neck.
Sports play a very important role in my life ever since I could walk. My interests in playing sports began at the age of three as my parents signed me up for soccer, flag football, basketball, and lacrosse. First grade started my competitive edge as I began to play for travel teams in various sport tournaments. This competitive edge transferred from the sports field to the classroom having teachers and coaches helping me be the best I can be. Sports have continually well-shaped and defined my character by teaching me how to accept a win from working hard, also how a loss is an opportunity to learn and fix mistakes.
One occurrence was during a high school playoff game during my freshman year. My team was favored to win the championship but we had some difficulty. We were in a tied game against a team many expected us to beat and our opponent scored with fifty seconds left to pull ahead of us. Our coach called a timeout and rallied us together. Instead of yelling at us he told us “see you in overtime.” The next shift my line goes out and scores with fifteen seconds left to tie the game. Time expired and we head to overtime. After about five minutes of overtime Ipass to my winger and he scored off the pass to win the game. It was one of the most satisfying wins I have been apart of as we weren’t playing our best and how close we came to losing. That win fueled us the rest of the playoffs and we ended up winning the championship with that momentum.
We met in the locker room and got ready for our first game. We were playing a team that we had never played before, but they had a 7-3 record in their area. We knew it would be
One of my biggest achievements was to be accepted to the Sampson Early College High School. This was an important accomplishment not only for me but also for my family. Getting accept to the early college gave me another chance to start a new beginning in my life and to become a better person among my peers. There were other achievements that were also important to me such as competing at the National Beta Club Convention at state and national where I received three awards. This huge accomplishment has given me the opportunity to express my ideas and talents to other schools across state and country and to proudly represent my school.
Golf is arguably one of the most difficult and challenging sports on earth. It is an individual sport and how you play is dictated by only the player itself. Golf requires players to be consistent on every shot and every hole. But another aspect to the game is the conditions of the course. The course must be well kept in order for players to have an equal opportunity to succeed while also being challenging enough to determine who is a great player and a player who is only average. In June of 2016, I started a new job working at a golf course. Even though I had to wake up at 4:45 AM every morning to maintain the course, these early mornings opened my eyes as to why consistency is the most important skill in life.
Golf is my passion and it has shaped my mentality and my approaches on not only the sport, but also life. Very commonly, in any sport, it is easy to be hard on yourself and get easily disappointed in bad performance. I have learned that In golf, swallowing- focusing on, mistakes or difficulties creates more of a mess for yourself because it clouds your judgement and focus for all the following shots. I have developed the mental stamina to be able to be unaffected by mistakes.
Squatting on the low mound behind the eighteenth green at Prairie View Golf Club, I stared aimlessly towards the setting sun as my teammates surrounded me in a futile attempt to raise my spirits. The past two days had been the worst of my golfing career. Suffocating humidity, hellish heat, and steady rain for what felt like forty days and forty nights, all combining in central Indiana in the middle of June? A sensible person would have stayed inside, but, of course, the nightmarish conditions coincided with the Indiana Golf State Finals my freshman year of high school. Qualifying for the state finals was a joyride, but the tournament itself felt more like a massive traffic jam, complete with bad-tempered crowds of people, disastrous accidents, and a generally dispirited vibe. My experience during the competition’s grueling two days covered the entire emotional spectrum: brutal, traumatizing, scarring in the short term; yet meaningful, educational, and inspiring as time passed and the wounds from those awful rounds faded.
It was one of the heardest games i have ever played in my life.By half time the score was tied up 24 to 24. We had a real good chance of winning that game. After half Battle came back and turned on the heat. They ended up beating us by 12 points. In a district 's final game that is not a very big win. We were all so depressed after that game, but there was something that i still had, That was my brothers.
The day was June 29, 2016 when I played in my first golf tournament at the age of 16. Even though I had only been practicing and playing the sport for less than a month, I felt confident in my knowledge of the game going into the tournament. However, I was actually very naive. After one of the girls in my group asked me to “tend the flag,” my confidence went down the drain and I realized that I lacked the understanding of everyday language among golfers. From that point on in the tournament, I tried my best to hide my inexperience and fit in with the other girls, who were much more experienced than I was.
We had an hour break of rest before our next opponents and we were tired. I twisted my ankle and was winded from all of the running I did those past three games. But we came for the win. The last game we played that night wasn't actually a walk in the park. I suppose that the referee was tired from all of the previous games and decided not to catch obvious fouls and flaws in our game. Our opponents were ruthless, elbowing, shoving, punching at one point, and the referee never seemed to call anything. We started to plummet vastly as a team as the game weened on. We were missing easy shots, walking on the court, giving up what we worked so hard to achieve. We defeated ourselves that game. The negligence we all had about our mission in the tournament was embarrassing. We had a team meeting about the last game and modified it for that next day of the tournament. I instantly felt that I let my team down by not trying my hardest even though I played endless games. The ordeal made me want to play even better for the games the next day. This loss taught me that no matter how hard things get never to give up because you might have lost the battle but ultimately the victory will come from the
