When trying to describe who I am and what I want to become, it is easiest to list values that reflect the person I am. My values can be reflected by the person I would be if I had an unlimited amount of resources and time. If that was the case, I would want to be a stay at home mother to my daughter who will be here in February. I would want to live on a large farm with lots of cattle and horses to take care of and be able to afford to go on vacations whenever I wanted. The reason I would want this is having a large farm would allow me to teach my daughter and future children all about responsibilities and the importance of animals, like my grandfather and father did with me. I would want to be able to spend time each day with my family and going on vacations with them. Every year, my husband and I go to the beach with his family and bring my little sister. Most of my values reflect upon my family. My values include christianity, family, truth, justice, and courage. The value that I hope reflects me the most is Christianity. Dr. Bill Blevins gave the best speech on courage that I have heard saying that courage can be categorized in multiple categories. The category that I think of as being the typical form of courage is the physical aspect. When I think of courage, I think of soldiers who have the courage to go into battle, knowing they may die, just because they want a better and safer life for their family at home. When I think of social courage, I think of students who say no to peer pressure, which could lead to the loss of friendships. Spiritual courage is having the courage to tell someone you care about that what they are doing is wrong and they need to change their behavior. I value courage, because it usually involves putting the well-being of others before your own life. This is a value that I find
To me having courage makes me feel stronger than ever. Courage is one of the things that helped me join NJROTC, and it helps me get through the days. Before I learned what courage was or even used it, I was too shy to even say my name out loud. But when I joined NROTC they helped me break my shyness. And now I see clear, I know in the future courage will help me stand up and make it to my goals in life.
One of the best explanations of courage is the following by Maya Angelou: “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtues with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” Her explanation summarizes all that courage can lead you to who you are in life. Courage is standing up for what you believe in, despite disapproval, pain, fear, uncertainty, or intimidation. Courage is challenging what is normal. Courage is giving voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Courage is using whatever power available to educate the world about injustice. Courage is following your heart even when the path is not known. Courage is trying after failing.
Courage is the thing which can be found in a child to an old man. It needs a lot of courage to take out courage from the heart. It is like a brain. It depends on the person, how and when he uses it. This tiny word has the power to convey the whole gesture of a person. According to Harper Lee?s genius ?To Kill a Mockingbird?, Courage is when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through it through no matter what.
“Courage - a perfect sensibility of the measure of danger, and a mental willingness to endure it.” Courageous people understand the danger that they face when they act how they do. That is what courage is all about. Many historical events occur due to people having the courage to do what they think is right, or because of those who use their courage to do what they want. Having the courage to stand alone in one’s beliefs may be one of the hardest thing a person can do.
Dictionary- reference defines courage as “the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery” In the book, To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee expresses courage in many ways through the novel. In the novel, nearly every character display courage in their life. Courage is the inner desire to succeed and to do what is right, no matter what consequences of your decision. Throughout the novel, Atticus define courage as "I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what.” One of the central topics of the novel is that a man of courage is a man who doesn’t run away but fight against his enemy even though they know they going to lose.

Courage is something that is sought after by most people. It is an aspect associated with true manhood.
The world consists of people who have two opposite traits. Half of the population is brave, fearless, and daring. The other half is wimpy, fearful, and pusillanimous. All of these traits are synonyms and antonyms of one definition: courage. Courage is when someone has the inspiration to be mentally strong; or it is when someone has the willpower to do things that he/she would not normally do. Usually society identifies courage as a positive action leading to a positive outcome, but that is not always the case.

Values in my opinion should determine your priorities, and they’re probably the measures, you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to. Knowing your own values can help you make decisions about how to live your life. The values that I believe in play a very important role in my life. These important values have been greatly influenced by my family and life experiences. My core values include family, health, knowledge, happiness, friendship, loyalty, trust, hard work, honesty, and learning.
As stated by Yeung Kathryn, “You get in life what you have the courage ask for”, courage is a highly acclaimed trait that shows the action on the consequences of fears and doubts. This is not a single characteristic. It is the combination of numerous quality such as bravery, passion, faith and so on which makes a perfect human being. Though it is very easy to pronounce, it needs lots of struggle to raise up. The value of courage is profound by motivation behind it. By being brave simply is not considered as courage.
My personal goal is to find out what my life values are and to stick to them.
The main goal in life is to live by our beliefs and our values. These beliefs and values define who we are as a person and create how we behave towards others (Wright, 1). These beliefs and values can be defined as our personal core values. My personal core values include family, trust, honesty, friendship, and creativity, which define who I am, change from past to present, and could change again.
