The lights shine down and the cheerleaders cheer as his eyes scan the field for an open receiver. Students explode with school pride as he throws a bullet to wide receiver Mark Vergara that sent the rivalry game against Granada High School into overtime. It's almost the end of just another intense football game for teenager Zach Fraade. At seventeen, the Cleveland High School football star is on the verge of getting recruited by a prominent Division 1 University where he can continue working towards his dream of one day playing in the NFL. Standing at 6’3” with a great running prowess and powerful arm, Fraade has been watched closely by scouts since his freshman year. He walks with a swagger in his stride with his broad shoulders; chiseled
Before any football player can say they are for sure going to play in the NFL for a career, they might want to consider how likely that will happen. The statistics of a football player going to the NFL are extremely low. The chances of playing college football at the levels of division one (D1) or division two (D2) on scholarship are also slim. The D1 or D2 college levels of football produce the most NFL players. Most high school football players want to play in D1 or D2 football, but the reality is that barely any of them will. There are an estimated 1,093,234 senior high school football players in the United States (“Football”). The astonishing reality is that just 4.2% of those 1,093,234 seniors in high school will play college football at the D1 or D2 level (“Football”). If a football player does get their scholarship to play college football they should feel grateful that they are one of the roughly 45,916 to accomplish that (“Football”). The statistics are now even lower for a college football player that is trying to make it to the NFL. There are only 15,842 college football players eligible for the NFL Draft, which are juniors and seniors (“Football”). Just the tiny number of 1.6% is how many of those draft eligible players will play in the NFL. Many coll...
My name Is Michelle Runstedler and in my spare time I enjoy doing many things that shape me as an individual. For instance, I am very interested in different cultures; I find different cultures to be inviting and interesting. In relation to this, I love traveling mostly because it is a learning experience. In travelling, it allows me to experience different cultures and traditions through another persons perspective.
Sadly, my family was going through financial struggles, forcing me out of the school zone I was destined to attend. When I discussed the situation wih the high school coaches they told me they would pick me up from my new house and take me to school every day; with the condition that I’d play football for them all throughout high school. Even though this was illegal I continued to go ahead and accept the offer. My first year of high school was so exciting that it went by in the blink of an eye. Sophomore year came and the clock ticked closer and closer to when everything would change. I started in varsity as a corner back but soon would have big shoes to fill as the team’s quarterback. Not only did this require skill and hard work but the ability and qualities of a leader as well. Ultimately, playing this position helped me acquire traits that would soon be necessary for success. That year was tough for us because the majority of the team consisted of inexperienced players, however the coaches knew I would be the one to lead the
There wasn’t a position for me on the football team, but the degree was the utmost important thing. That, and I knew I would make myself a position on the team if I had to. Eventually at Stanford I established myself as the, in my eyes, best corner in the nation. For some reason I’ll never understand, despite turning around a troubled football program, and killing it with my grades, when the nfl draft came and went, I went undrafted. UNDRAFTED! ME! Every team passed on me, even my eventual Seahawks. That disrespect motivated me, motivates me to this day, so when you see me, don’t think of me as the thug, think of me as the guy you never gave enough respect
All of my life I have been called countless names, some of which irritated me and some did not bother me at all. In elementary school, when kids thought about the name ‘Jackie’ they tended to connect it to Jackie Chan thus calling me ‘Jackie Chan’. Furthermore, the kids seemed to link the name to being a masculine name the majority of the time, which began to annoy me since I answered the question, “Why do you have a boy’s name,” so many times. As years went by, I became used to being asked the question and the kids matured, thus stopped calling me ‘Jackie Chan.’
Name is Sikiru Asifatu, born in Brooklyn NY, April 7th, 1994. Raised by Mr. Sikiru Asifatu Sr. & Bola Asifatu; both are natural born decedents of Nigeria. My family I then relocated to Houston, TX at the age of seven; going from Bonham Elementary to Welch middle School. I then attended Westside High school where I lettered in Varsity football, Track & field, and powerlifting. I then went on to attend College of the Desert located in Palm Desert, California; a two year junior college where I got recruited to played football coming out of High School. By sophomore year I received All- Conference Linebacker Honors, while maintaining a 3.2 GPA. Then went on to receive a full football scholarship to attend Texas Southern University in the middle
After playing three years in the recreational league, I naively believed that my stud-like skills were needed for bigger and better things. Unfortunately, no one told me that I would be the shortest girl at the travel team tryout, by at least 5 inches. Needless to say, I did not make the cut; however, that did not stop me from trying out again, and again, and again. I could not wrap my 11-year-old mind around why I was not qualified to earn a spot on the team. I was the go-to-girl in the recreational league. Heck, I was voted MVP every year.
During the past summer I went to a camp on Oahu called, G.P.A. 2016 Football Showcase. It was a first time at the position I chose, cornerback. The showcase was three days long, as the weekend went on I began shining in a certain coach's eye. He then put me inside the Top 12 of the camp in that position. I already had my goals for football and those goals were starters; to get my name in the newspaper, make my senior year memorable, and
I like to play football and basketball. I play for Jefferson. Sometimes I practice with the rams red team. I get to practice with the rams because I'm really good and I have three brothers on the team. I have been in DIFL and you got hit people a lot and run. t play basketball for 3 years. Identity-“Ones personal qualities.”Identiy is something only he or she can fully define. My uncle says I am affectionate, cheerful, and calm. My grandmother sees me as slim, pretty and sweet. My dad described me as perky, cheerful and happy, my mom says beautiful, gentle, and self-conscious. These adjectives describe me accurately, yet they are only abstract versions of me. Adjectives cannot begin to describe me and I aknowlege these descriptions for what they are, a condensed translation from my outward self to the world. It is impossible for anyone to understand me completely because nobody has experienced the things I have. My mother has never cherished a raggedy doll named Katie and my father never spent hours upon hours making collages and scrap books for his future children. My uncle never hid in the back of a pick-up-truck and traveled four hours to New York and my grandmother has never walked hours in the rain looking for the Queen of England. My identity is something only I can define.
Well, who really am I? Am I rude, strict or obnoxious? Or am I loving and caring? Think and know me better.
The first practice hit you hard we started off with sprints and that was awful people throwing up all around me and I can’t catch my breath but you keep pushing it. I think that was the turning point for me I knew that a lot of people looked at me like small kid that shouldn’t play but after beating them in sprints they saw I was not going to give up. Later on that season it was our 4 game in the season we were going up against Carbondale and we are only up by 6 on defense one of our players go down. I just got off the field on offense they said we need someone I ran to them said I will go in they gave me the nod. When I got on the field it was strange because I never played defense at the time I was just thinking just hit the kid with the ball and you will do fine. The ball snapped so I started back peddling and watching the line men to see if they fire off the line if so it was a run if they backed peddled it was a pass. They fired off the line it was a run so my next thought was where but at soon I was thinking that I saw the running back was coming my way so pushed the receiver off me so it was just me and him. It happen so fast the guy and try to make cut outside but I manage to stick my foot in the ground change direction to tackle him. When I looked up at the time
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
The training and practices required to play professional football are intense. You have to wear uncomfortable pads and helmets and endure grueling practices in the heat of the summer and you have to lift weights every day (Green 174). You have to train no matter what position you play. What’s important about is how the position works and how it contributes to the game. Young boys must join high school football team, the road to football star begins in high school.
