Some Michigan Heroes can be people that helped you in life or helped you succeed in life. My Michigan Hero is someone that raised me, taught me everything I know in life today. This person is my idol, that gave me a hand when I needed one, or told me to keep my head up and never look down. I wouldn’t know what to do in life if this person wasn’t in it. It’s walking in, branches breaking while he’s walking into the bait pile. I feel like my heart is going to jump right out of my chest. I sat there patiently while letting it eat for a while. I grabbed my gun and put the bullet in. I really didn’t know if this was real or if i was just dreaming, but this had to be real. Once I told my dad that I was ready to shoot, he told me to wait. Everything has changed it started walking back into the woods, I almost lost it. My dad told me just to sit quietly and wait patiently. I sat there for about seven minutes and so came a bigger one. You could hear it from a mile away, how heavy it was snapping all the branches. There it was standing right in front of my eyes at least 100 yards away. My dad finally grabbed my gun and told me to wait till I could get a good shot. Still my heart was bumping harder than before and I thought that this wasn’t gonna end well. I got my gun on the ledge and looked into my scope and …show more content…
there he was. My dad was behind waiting for me to shoot. He softly said into my ear, “okay take a deep breath and hold it in, then pull the trigger.” Click I put the gun on fire, and I was ready to shoot.
I was counting to myself 1, 2, 3, Boom!! The shot went off and I was so happy. I looked out my window and it was still standing there. My dad in the back looking in the bag like he had lost something, he was looking for another bullet. He gave it to me and said put this in the gun and aim again. I thought to myself I missed, what if it’s going to run away. As I put the bullet in the gun and looked through the scope it was still standing there, it seemed to have not known where the shot had come
from. I didn’t count to three this time, I just took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. It jumped so high up in the air and then ran off into the woods. Putting the gun down and hugging my dad in excitement. We sat there for about five minutes and then went and looked for it. Before we went we followed the blood trail that was leading us into the woods. My dad went one way and I went the other. I kept my dad in touch if I saw a big patch of blood somewhere. My dad yelled, “Rylie I found your deer.” I ran as fast as I could to see my deer, as I saw my dad I saw the deer lying right next to him. I jumped up in excitement and ran up to my dad and started hugging him, because if I didn’t have my dad that day it would have never happened. I wrote this about my dad because some people don’t get this awesome opportunity in life, either because some people don’t know who their parent is, or their parent doesn’t take their kids places where they want to go. This is the reason why my dad is my Michigan Hero.
I was sitting in the old rickety chair that looked as if it had been there for five years. The smell of gunpowder hung in the morning air as I leaned over the rifle rest. My finger wrapped around the trigger as my eye focused through the scope of my grandfather’s Springfield ’03. I took a deep breath and let half out. My finger tightened on the trigger as I awaited the recoil and crack of the gunpowder igniting. Finally, when my finger’s pull was enough to move the trigger, the gun went off. Moments like this are why I love shooting guns.
I was shooting the bow and asked my dad how i could improve on my skills, so he told me not to look till i hear my arrow hit my target. I had to leave shortly after this because i had to help set up a stand for a friend, I was so happy because he was taking me hunting after. I put my bow in the case and threw the bowcase in the house. I was off with kevin with nothing but a deer stand. We hopped
Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology for many years. Joseph filled each stage of the journey very well. He accepted all the challenges he got and all the help he needed. He really knew how to fulfill all those stages. Like everyone goes through a heroic journey everyone has to have a story to tell. My story is very contrasty from Joseph’s because he really knew what all the stages meant. My hero's journey consists of my threshold crossing which was when I started depending on myself more than I did on others, my helpers/mentors like my parents, teachers,my sister and many more influential people in my life and my rewards were getting awards in school, having a nice family, and many friends.
Stephen Richards once said, “When you do what you fear most, then you can do anything.” Joseph Campbell has written a three stage theory that every hero in a story goes through, a journey if you will. Every journey is different, but it's always structured around his formula, a hero will: separate from his/her known world into a new one, they'll challenge opposing forces or complete a series of tests, and lastly they return to their world again with a gift. Going along with this formula I've gone through my own hero's journey, and succeeded.
I get up and stand behind my blocks. The starter yells out, “Runners to your mark!” My adrenaline starts to pump. “Get set!” I am ready for this I tell myself. “Bang!” the sound of the gun goes off. I was so ready for this
I was in Ohio when I first came to America as an Chinese exchange student, I live in a little town surrounded by endless corn fields, basically in the middle of nowhere. I went to a small public high school, which has only 2 Chinese students, including me. All of a sudden my world is completely changed, nothing from my old days is left, and I’m totally not ready for that. I got so homesick, I began to miss everything about China, people, food, and of course, language. That’s probably the reason why I was so eager to speak Chinese every time I meet the other Chinese girl.
I could stroll around the city. I might visit the art museum then had a
I stood there just staring I could not move. Every time I moved o\n took a breath I felt him getting closer. Quickly, I had to do something but I did not know what. I feel like he has a gun or a weapon but I do not know for sure. I was 5’4 and 87lbs., and this guy had to be at least 6’9 and 250lbs.. There was no way that I would win in a fistfight so I just had to sit there and hope he would not see me hiding. I decided to run, I got shot in the leg.
It was a cool and hazy summers night… all I remember is a hand sticking out the door and waving us off. As soon as I got set in the car the lights turned dimmed, and there was a jerk and we were off.
“Up North. It’s the place people go to escape, a place made of cabins, pine trees, and lakes. But no matter how far you drive, there’s no sign to say “you’ve arrived” so just follow your heart till you find… your special place that brings peace of mind. As you breathe in the air and unwind… your cares are all left behind. It’s no mystery where the northwoods start when you arrive up north, you’ll know in your heart.” -Suzanne Kindler. Coming from a fifth generation Wisconsinite, I have never seen a quote more true. When I think of where I was born and raised in Mauston, WI, I think of peaceful, sunny afternoons hanging out in the backyard or trail riding through the forest with my horse. It’s beautiful, most afternoons
I caught the wave right as it towered over me almost feeling like it was eating me. Right as I caught the barrel it crashed and I finally got swallowed by the wave.
Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm went off in a crazy rage trying to wake me up for my regular day of hunting. After I turned off the raging alarm I got my hunting clothes on and grab my 30-30 and waited for my step dad to get ready. By the time my stepdad got ready it was about 5:30 we were a little late but we’ll make it to the old place on time.
When we arrived at Michigan adventure, me and my dad we went on the big dipper first. It was fun. Then we went on the zach zoomer. it was super fun. Next was grand rapids and adventure falls. We got drenched! Next up on our list was the water park. This is not the order we did the waterslides in. funnel of fear, cyclone zone, mammoth river, mine shaft, slide winders and other stuff in the water park. We left and ate lunch and went back in the park and did the thunderhawk.#IT WAS THE BEST!!! The sea dragon was fun to. Shivering timbers when you go down the hills makes your stomach drop a ton but it is wooden and is still a fun coaster. The log ride was also super fun to. The wolverine wildcat was so bumpy. After i went
My buck ended up right on the four-wheeler trail and didn’t even run 40 yards away. I started to walk over to the deer and evaluated that he was a nice seven-pointer. I shot my first buck ever! Everything in my body started to speed up and the feeling was incredulous. My dad and I dragged the deer to a place where we could gut it. Right after that, we registered him with the DNR and it was an amazing feeling to register the deer as a buck: my first buck ever.
