Teachers have a positive influence on many students lives. One teacher has made a huge impact on my life. Mrs. X has always helped me and made a huge impact on my life. She always listened to what I had to say and she helped me learn. Mrs. X helped me understand and learn math. When I needed help or didn’t understand something, she was there and helped me understand what you had to do and how to do it. When I had her I did not know how to multiply and it was confusing, and I knew all I had to do was ask her and I did. She told what to do and I learned how to multiply. Mrs. X was also my literacy teacher. I didn’t know how to tell the difference between a simile and a metaphor. She told me that a simile compared to things and said “like” or
“as” and a metaphor compared to things without saying “like” or “as”. She helped me understand many different things and that is what made her such an amazing teacher, and the best one I ever had. Mrs. X taught me many things and helped me understand many more things. She was there for me when I didn’t know how to do something, and she explained it to me. Mrs. X has always helped me and made a huge impact on my life. Teachers have a positive influence on many students lives.
If you take the time to appreciate what the author writes by using metaphors the story will be more enjoyable. Understanding metaphors is not always easy, many people get similes and metaphors mixed up. A simile is nothing more then a baby metaphor.
It was finally time to head to gym class in the afternoon where we were instructed to take part of a physical test. This test would determine how fit or unfit we are based on a system that was implemented by those with greater authority, on which concluded that it was on such a scale society should be based on. So it was that afternoon that I preformed the tasks that were instructed on to me and my peers. I was able to completed them to my utmost potential which can be consider to be something not so distinctive. It was on this day that I was mocked by one my peers of my lack of ability to preform the instructed physical tasks, that was a no brainer to such a fit individual like himself. It
Life is like a tree, it grows and develops branches and leaves that come and go as we progress. The environments we live in determine which branches wither and fade and which prosper. Every branch holds some form of learned literacy from the end of the roots to the trunk and highest branch. Literacy encompasses many aspects of life.
Another example is when Vonnegut uses a simile to describe one of the ballerinas on TV. A simile is a comparison using ‘like’ or ‘as’. After a newscaster tried to talk on TV, he gave up and let a ballerina come and talk for him. As she started talking, Vonnegut explained, “ And it was easy to see that she was the strongest and most graceful of all the dancers, for her handicap bags were as big as those worn by two-hundred pound men” (3). The simile is used to describe how beautiful and strong the ballerina is and how deprecated society is making her. It should make the reader feel sympathy for such a beautiful creature to be constrained like she is. The simile fits into the theme because it’s showing that the more beautiful and strong you are the more punishment you will have. Not everyone will be as strong so they get less of a punishment.
All I could remember on my journey to literacy was my concern over my brother and sister’s ability to read and write including solving math problems. That did not really motivate not to become literate; I was extremely playful as a child. What I am able to remember is my first day of school, I cried like a baby when my mom dropped me off. I soon began to grow out of my baby stage and school became really interesting. Even though it was not as hard as it is now, the value that pushed me to be literate was how my teacher was able to discipline students if they didn’t give the best to their education.
Before attending pre-school, Sofia was already a very literate child. She observed her cousins and was interested in everything they’d do, including reading and writing. Sarah, her youngest cousin would always have her head stuck in books all the time. Never understanding why she would dependably read or what the books would verbally express, Sofia wanted to be just like her, completely consumed in literature. The goal within this Literacy Autobiographical Narrative is to have the audience develop a fuller understanding of Sofia’s literacy practices and how they have shaped her today.
She was the most caring and dedicated teacher I ever had and she respected every student as an individual. On the other hand, she had a very negative influence on my life. She is the person who told me there was no Santa Clause, which ruined Christmas for me for a very long time. Another person who has had a great influence on my life is Mr. Robinson. He was my first band teacher. He is the person who convinced me to join band, which
A second piece of evidence is from Millar and she states,”You either spark a desire and inspire us to do better to stop us from believing we ever will.” This shows that teachers can inspire us or motivate us to do many things that others doubt we can do. So, let’s say you want to be a professional flute player and everyone’s like “No. You are too stupid to even get close to succeeding this”, then there would have been a teacher that may have inspired you to want to accomplish that goal. In that case,, people can positively impact others if they try is shown because a teacher could out the biggest imprint on someone's life..
Simile is a literary device to further clarify a situation. In Rip Van Winkle, Irving
There are many different types of events that shape who we are as writers and how we view literacy. Reading and writing is viewed as a chore among a number of people because of bad experiences they had when they were first starting to read and write. In my experience reading and writing has always been something to rejoice, not renounce, and that is because I have had positive memories about them.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
Do you remember the teacher that inspired you to do your best? Or maybe the teacher who believed in you when the rest of the world had turned against you? Teachers have a way of touching students’ lives, whether in a large or very minute way. I can think of numerous times that a teacher made a difference in my life. I am so appreciative of them, and I want to do for other students what many of my teachers have done for me. That is why, after I obtain, both, my Bachelor and Master degrees, I plan to enter the teaching profession.
Teachers can make a difference in a student’s life and as an upcoming teacher I would like to make an impact on my student’s lives as well. In my opinion a teacher is one of the most valuable parts in a child’s life. Teachers share their knowledge about the world and content that a child must know to succeed in the world and as a teacher the ultimate goal is the belief in every child being successful. In my past I have had many teachers, some are wonderful and some awful but some teachers can be acceptable.
If you reflect on your high school experience, could you identify one teacher that had a lasting impact on your life? What quality did that teacher have that set them apart from the other teachers? During my high school experience there was that one sparkly-eyed math teacher who used humor to engage students. The bespectacled world cultures teacher acted out Australopithecus, breathing life into ancient history and making it relevant. Critical analysis of Kafka’s Metamorphosis and other allegorical stories with the offbeat, wild haired English teacher introduced divergent thinking. Unfortunately not all of my teachers were memorable. Some teachers were downright awful, such as the scowl faced math teacher who discouraged questions by berating students, creating an insecure environment. By contrast, these teachers either did not seem to care about the students or the content, or they lacked the desire
A good teacher is one that motivates the students to always keep trying and do their best. However, an ethical and virtuous teacher is one who changes a student’s life forever and shapes their character into becoming a successful and respectful human being. Teachers have an important part in our lives and they impact us every day. Not only do they teach us something new each passing day, they also give us lessons that we will use in every decision we make in our lives. Luckily, I was able to have a teacher who pushed me beyond all my limits and always believed in me. That marvelous teacher was my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Alvarado.
