My Life Purpose Some people in this world are born to do great things, as far as I know, I am here trying to find myself. We all impact the world in one way or another. I would love to do something that would be amazing and one day I hope I will find that. I 'm here at college to figure it out, whether I want go into environmental science, chemistry, criminal justice, or something completely different. I 'm excited to try out new things and meet new people, and hopefully find something that I am great at. I will be setting goals, being here at college and exploring careers. Many people in the world impact the world in so many ways such as doctors, nurses, fire fighters, etc. They help save people when they need them the most, because they want to. Or we have people in this world trying to speak up and not liking what they are seeing and/or hearing. These people who are truly incredible. Such as Rosa Parks who sat in the front of the bus because she didn 't like the fact she had to sit on the back of the bus because of the color of her skin. Just something like that impacts the world, we are still talking about them here this day. Or Malala who stood up because she didn’t like the educations for females in her country. And because she stood up, she got shot for doing something she believes in. “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” The brilliant Mahatma Gandhi spoke these words. If you want to do something amazing you just have to or out and do it. “A college is a place where pebbles are polished and diamonds dimmed” said by Robert Ingersoll. College is a great way to find yourself (so I have heard). I know I haven 't been a college student that long, however I know it is a lot different than high school. I atten... ... middle of paper ... ...ects, such as going outside and picking up trash around the town, or we had to must collect trash in 48 hours to see how much trash we had and it is crazy about how much trash that we can collect in just two days. It was interesting hearing about so many things that is going wrong in our world. And finally, I thought that criminal justice would be very interesting to major in. Helping to solve problems. I do not know what they do in criminal justice but do enjoy watching “48 Hours” it is a TV show about detectives solving homicides. To me it is very interesting to see how they solve these murders with little evidence or nothing. I know there are some murders that can go unsolved for years. Hopefully maybe not this year but next year I will pick a major that I will love and be good at. “life is so brief and time is a thief when you’re undecided” said by Rob Stewart.
Rick Perlstein states in his article, "What's the Matter with College?" that college should be a time of self-discovery. He thinks of college as a gateway into to adulthood where everyone is suddenly gaining this new sense of freedom and finding their own identity. It was a time one to read their first banned book and see their first independent film. Perlstein seems to consider one's college years as the most defining years of their life. Today, however, students do not have the luxury of attending an institution solely in the name of self-exploration. The college experience is indeed different from what it once was, much to Perlstein's chagrin. No longer are students going to college for the college experience that was once known by past generations, instead, they are going for the opportunities promised by attending college.
Everyone lives on the same planet, but we all come from different worlds. From saying you are going to kill yourself if you have to go to school, to getting killed because you went to school. From starving yourself to lose weight, to starving yourself so your kids can eat. From continent to continent people live in different situations, have different experiences, and make different impacts on the world. For those who are in less than adequate situations, civil rights activist like Malala Yousafzai and Elie Wiesel fight for them, fight for what they deserve and what they should have had a long time ago.
College, a gateway for expanding the horizons within our youth has many conflicting ideas due to it's cost, suggesting that it may not even be worth it. Yet thinking about having this privilege of exposing our minds to anything and everything we desire while providing ourselves with far more opportunity in the future makes every late night double shift, staying up until 3 am, living off ramen noodles well worth it.
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
The two majors I decided to research were Criminal Justice and Secondary Education. The major I went into Oshkosh of declaring was Criminal Justice. I became interested in Criminal Justice after watching Criminal Minds and doing a ride-along with my aunt, who is a police officer in Sheboygan Falls. As far as Secondary Education, I have always loved being around kids. When I was young I played school with my sister. I’ve also loved math, it has always been my best subject. I am more interested in Secondary Education as of now, which is why I interviewed a middle school math teacher, but I am still interested in learning more about Criminal Justice because I still find it extremely interesting.
You seem to be living a very meaningful life. You share your experiences modestly, but I know you’ve witnessed indescribable things. I also know you have probably treasured every moment of it; I can’t seem to think of anyone more worthy of a position like yours. This point in your life reminds me of a sweet quote by James Wright. It goes, “Suddenly I realized that if I stepped out of my body I would break into blossom.” That is how I envision the intensity of your
College is a great place to help students explore what they want to do in the future and experience new things. College allows people to undergo an atmosphere that is one step closer to the real world. According to The University of North Texas, “You’ll be able to pursue your own interest through extracurricular activities and perhaps discover a career direction that you’ve never considered.” During the completion of these explorations, some become aware of which path they should follow instantly. For others however, college may only be the beginning of their explorations.
Well, who really am I? Am I rude, strict or obnoxious? Or am I loving and caring? Think and know me better.
Every goal in life is determined by the actions we take right now. Experiences and encounters with different people are lessons that teach us something new that could later on be applied in the future. I have always had a passion for helping others. Whether it was listening to people describe their difficulties or helping someone with a math problem, bringing aid to someone in need, to me was riveting. This pattern of helping others is something I hope to continue throughout my life. Biomedical engineering offers me a lifelong opportunity helping others and building a rewarding career. In order to reach this goal I have worked hard academically, and I have participated in numerous extra-curricular activities inside and outside of school.
In today’s society, college is a rite of passage for many young adults. It is a privilege that many people take for granted. For me, it is an opportunity to not only better myself but also the career field that I intend to enter. I believe that one does not stop learning outside of the classroom and that a college is a place where you learn more about yourself as well as other perspectives the world contains. Investing in my future, meeting new people and self growth are the ultimate benefits that are gained when one attends college.
I hope my hard work is seen despite the little things that impose a challenge to my education. I am always searching for opportunities, such as internships and enrichment programs. Outside of academics, I enjoy time with my family and being involved in sports along with volunteer opportunities in my communities. Volunteering is a principle my mom has instilled me because she's always inclined with the community and my school.
The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
...new classes, I soon realized what would be the biggest challenge of college: deciding on a major. Yes, I am one of those people who started college without first declaring a major. I soon heard every question, suggestion, and response regarding possible options. I even began concocting false majors to throw some people off. Large-Scale Demolition was a crowd favorite.
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
