Personal Narrative: My Learning Experience At Colorado Christian University

I grew up in a poor family and college, for me, was an aspiration that often seemed out of reach. These past few months seem surreal and I keep imagining that I am going to wake up and realize that it has been a fantasy. I am so excited to be in school and that I have been given the opportunity to make my dream a reality. As I travel through the next few years at Colorado Christian University I want to work hard to attain the following goals maximize my learning experience, work hard to achieve an A or B in each class so that I can graduate with Cum Laude Honors.

I have chosen one of my goals to maximize my learning experience because I want to get the most out of each class as I possibly can in order to apply it outside the classroom.

To achieve this goal I will focus on one class at a time because I believe that it is important to take the concept “take one day at a time” and apply it to all areas of my life. By focusing on one class at a time I hope to soak in more of the information that the class has to offer and looking for ways to implement this in areas outside the classroom. I believe that combing textbook learning with experiential learning you aggrandize your wisdom.
Another goal I have set for myself is to acquire an A or B in each class I take because I believe it is important to put your best foot forward in everything you set out to do. I plan to achieve this goal by beginning each class by looking at my calendar and all of the events that I have during that 5 week period and ensuring that I schedule my studies around those events. I will break down my assignments and tasks and schedule them into my daily routine to ensure that I do not allow any time for procrastinating thus removing any chance for anxiety or missing an opportunity to achieve my first goal.
My final goal I have made for myself is to graduate with honors. This goal is above all the most important goal to me and I believe that in order for this goal to be attained I must remain focused on why I am doing this. I have gone back to school because for my entire adult life this is all I have ever wanted for myself, for me it is a sense of accomplishment and a lifelong dream of bettering myself. With this degree I can be versatile and more valuable as an employee, but it is more about the overwhelming self-satisfaction of completing a goal that I have had since I was a young child.
All of my goals are to help me achieve the greatest dream of my life obtaining a degree. Every decision I made as a teenager was always done with deep consideration of how it will impact my ability to get into college and every decision I make today effects the outcome of my dream. I am committed to fulfilling my desire to achieve my dream. Each day I pray for God to give me the strength to endure today, for him to direct me to where he wants me to go and to open my eyes to what he wants me to see. With God in my court I know “that I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, ESV)
