I wake up in the morning and I can feel the bracelet sliding down my arm as I get up. The bracelet feels warmer than usual, this maybe because my arms are covered with blankets that make it warm during the night. When I wake up in the morning my bracelet has no distinct smell…but when I am getting ready I put perfume on that lingers on to the bracelet throughout the day. So it smells fruity almost like fresh berries that you would smell as you walk through the produce section of the grocery store. But a good smell, fresh and fruity.
As I walk downstairs for breakfast the light reflects off of it at the table. When I am on my way to school in the car, whenever we hit a bump I can feel it jump just slightly off my wrist. The natural light in

the morning makes it shine more than usual, a natural shiny silver tint. At school, it feels cold from being outside. I sit down at my desk and begin my day. As I lean my hand on the table to write during class, I hear it jingle and make a sort of sharp scraping sound, but not a loud or bad one, it’s more soft and simple. A simple tap, but from multiple pendants on the bracelet. The lights in the classroom reflect off of it, but not like the natural light does; it changes the silver glossiness of it to a yellow tint. Although it still shines, the longer you look at it in with the yellow tint; it starts to look like an old bracelet instead of new glow it gives off in an outside setting. It is made up of 18 circular shiny silver pendants.
It’s very light; I don’t even feel it on my wrist sometimes, it’s not s chunky bracelet. Its thin all together but doesn’t quit fit my wrist securely..leaving some of the pendants hanging below it. It’s a very intricate bracelet, but simple at a glance. With every two plane silver pendants comes an engraved one to follow. Engraved in tiny capital letters spelling of TIFFANY CO. the name of the store I got it from. Sometimes I can feel the engraved lettering on my arm, like there are pieces missing from the bracelet. They are fairly thick pendants that feel smooth when you touch it, the only rough when I feel the engraved writing sides. They almost remind you of tiny little donuts with sprinkles on it. The plain sides of the pendant are so shiny that you can see your reflection if you look closely. You can’t quite make a full picture of what the reflection is, but can certainly tell that something is being reflected. Almost like a faint mirror. Connecting each pendant is nineteen oval shaped clasps. The clasps that connect each pendant are very skinny. The entire bracelet reminds me of the paper chains that grammar school children make during the holidays to decorate their classrooms. As each piece of construction paper that is decorated and looped, that represents the thicker pendants that are engraved. While the staples that connect each looped chain together are the skinny clasps. Connecting either side of the bracelet
is a giant hook that you have to open with a tiny almost lever in order to clip it together. You couldn’t miss it. It’s always twisted when I wear it, that’s the style..I recently discovered that every pendant is not plain..all of them are engraved with the TIFFANY CO. writing on it..it just depends on how you wear it what side you see. I make sure I wear it every day, the only times I take it off are when I do something that might get it wet and ruin the silver finish. Other than that, night and day it stays on my wrist and repeats the same cycle every day.
“For a long time, I wanted to give you this necklace. See, I wore this on my skin, so when you put it on your skin, then you know my meaning. This is your life’s importance.” (pg. 208)
A quinceañera receives a gorgeous gift from a family member on her fifteenth birthday, something that she will carry with her forever. In this cultural celebration for our family, it is very important for the father to give his daughter a special jewelry that resembles his love for her on her fifteenth birthday; the way it presents itself, how it would embody her physically, and how it would be carried throughout the years. My father took time and care in choosing the right gift for his princess. The gift that my father gave me was a necklace that touched my heart. It shines when light hits the gold carvings. It glistens in different shades of yellow when the sun comes out. This necklace started as a real gift of nature, so it has some natural variation in the size and shape. Every ornament is unique! The leaf is plated in copper, nickel, and finally gold. The process of the plating leaf into gold made the importance stronger to me, because it is very time consuming. There are two layers of metals applied to the leaf before the gold was applied. These layers help make the leaf very sturdy and long-lasting. It connects to the chain with an oval clip that has small cuts mimicking the shades and shape of a sea shell. The chain has two thin layers of gold crossing together, creating an ong...

Scenes from a Corner Store present the topic of adaption of immigrants into Canada with the Bak family, who encompass the ideology that the next generations of their daughters will deviate from cultural tradition. In terms of assimilation, the family interacts heavily with only Koreans, such as the dinner that Mr Bak and his wife attend for Store Owners every month. At these dinners, the most popular conversation is the condition of their children’s marriage and who they should marry indicating an importance of marriage when an individual is of age. Moreover, there is a huge importance on endogamy with a taboo on exogamy. This importance on endogamy lead to Carolyn concealing her boyfriend Rob from her parents for so long. This is indicated
I am an undocumented student at UC Davis. When I am asked a simple question such as, "describe your personal experiences", I ask myself: Where do I begin?
In the years following my work experience at The Warehouse, I recounted the stories of the pranks we played with pride and delight. Relishing the amount of time invested to set the pranks, I loved how dedicated we were in the pursuit of a laugh. Now my perspective on the mischief and antics force me to face a different and darker side of myself that I’d like to forget. I realized that I learned valuable life lessons about people that might have been wasted on me at the time. Fortunately these experiences were there when I needed them later in life.
There is always one creepy house on the street, this house is Mr. Frazier. I need to find a way to sneak in to Mr. Frazier’s house alexander said. Maybe I can use dads ladder to climb in to Mr. Frazier back window. Alexander climbed up to the back window. Bing pow boom bark bark bark! Alexander falls down the ladder. I have to find a way to get rid of those dogs.
I am from the island of Falalop Woleai which is one the outer islands of Yap State. The culture I was born and raised in has slightly changed over the years but our traditions are strongly practiced and respected. Woleaians today still wears traditional attire of loin cloths or “thus” for men and lava lavas for women.
The Necklace also displays distinctive realism in the use of socioeconomic influences which are essential to the plot. The major conflict in the story would be absent and the theme would not be obtainable without Mathilde Loisel’s insecurity about her own socioeconomic reputation. An example of Loisel’s self-deprivation nature is presented when she realizes she does not have a necklace, she says “I shall look absolutely no one. I would almost rather not go to the party” (Maupassant, sec. 3). Another example of the self-conflict caused by social pressure is Loisel’s immediate attempt to replace the necklace and her reluctance to speak to her friend Madame Forestier about the necklace for ten whole years. If she were not conflicted by societal pressures she might have avoided the whole situation altogether. The Necklace establishes a realistic difference in value between the necklaces and proposed clothing. Her husband proposes flowers which were valued 10 franks so in any case if she had chosen the flowers there would have been an insignificant economic loss. Her decision not to tell her friend about the necklace ends up costing her seven times the worth of the original. The roses symbolize the simpler things in life to the theme of the story. Mathilde Loisel’s withered appearance at the end
Necklaces are sold in any store an individual can think of including Walmart, Target, Old Navy and Costco. Even gas stations around town sell different types of this decorative jewelry. The can be long, short, showy, conservative, big, small, extravagant, simple, and any color imaginable. Necklaces can also have no charms or fifty. So what makes mine so special? My necklace has two charms; a simple silver heart from my mother and a faux ivory elephant from my best friend whom I met here at UNCW. I have two completely different charms that each signifies family and friends in one item that I get to take with me wherever I decide to adventure. Necklaces are changed, sold, or sometimes lost, but mine will be with me forever. This necklace is not important because it is just a nice necklace, it is important because it represents two of the most important people and two of the most important places in my life thus far.
We were difficult to understand this writing title and subtitle: So Much Dead Space, Creating Store Windows Alive with Promise. Because we just looked at title, it was hard for ours to understand them. Before reading, we were indifferent to people's behavior, when we walked to the street or took the bus. Perhaps these days, we always fell into smart phone. We disagreed that pile of people cross and stay crowded together as they continue down the street. Since people's walking speed is different, we think that they can't walk together. We agreed that a creative store window is fascinating for pedestrians. After reading, we knew that people walk faster than the old days. Because many people live in busy life, people cannot help walking faster.
Grocery shopping is something that almost every person in a modern society must do to get their food, however, disposable plastic grocery bags are accumulating on landfills and are polluting our oceans. Environmentalists are now encouraging others to lessen their impact on the environment by opting for reusable bags instead of disposable plastic bags while grocery shopping. Grocery and retail stores have gotten involved in this trend by selling their own reusable bags. This trend of shoppers bringing their own reusable bags with them when shopping is far less harmful for our environment, however, it is uncertain whether people are actually acting in such a way without
My experience at the PRC was filled with mixed emotions. I was working at the food pantry at PRC. The food pantry mainly offered canned food, fruits, and cereal. When a client came to the pantry, he or she would be given a cart then he or she would go about choosing the foods which were appropriate for him or her and the family. This process is more than preferable than getting pre-packed and pre-selected foods. The measure of food that one was given was totally dependent on the size of the family and the existence of special needs if there were any. After that, the volunteers would assist the client in bagging the food and the groceries that you had chosen. If the customer were a first timer, he or she would be interviewed and registered into
Once upon a time, I saw the world like I thought everyone should see it, the way I thought the world should be. I saw a place where there were endless trials, where you could try again and again, to do the things that you really meant to do. But it was Jeffy that changed all of that for me. If you break a pencil in half, no matter how much tape you try to put on it, it'll never be the same pencil again. Second chances were always second chances. No matter what you did the next time, the first time would always be there, and you could never erase that. There were so many pencils that I never meant to break, so many things I wish I had never said, wish I had never done. Most of them were small, little things, things that you could try to glue back together, and that would be good enough. Some of them were different though, when you broke the pencil, the lead inside it fell out, and broke too, so that no matter which way you tried to arrange it, they would never fit together and become whole again. Jeff would have thought so too. For he was the one that made me see what the world really was. He made the world into a fairy tale, but only where your happy endings were what you had to make, what you had to become to write the words, happily ever after. But ever since I was three, I remember wishing I knew what the real story was.
The light from the sun reflects off the pure white wall, illuminating the room. The dust floats, undisturbed by the empty house. This is what I see as I launch myself out the door, into the hot summer air, into the sounds of playing children.
