As children grow up they always look up to someone special in their life, someone that they can trust and is always there for them. This person is someone they admire and hope to be like someday. The person that I’ve described best fits my Grandma. She knows all the right things and is there whenever I need her. My grandma is one of the most important people in my life and I’m so happy that I have her. Since birth the one person that was always by my side except for my family was my Grandma. Once my parents needed to go back to work she was there everyday to watch over me. She took me with her every where she went and was proud to show me off and that she had such a wonderful grandson. My Grandma was around for all of my “firsts” that happened as an infant. I think that most of them can be accountable to her. I was never hungry since she always kept me full and when it came time to walk and talk she was there. A lot of our free time was spent chasing my old dog around the yard and petting the horses or going to the park. She was there every step of my infant years and through my younger years. We moved closer to her once I started school. My Grandma met my brother and me almost always once we got home from school. It was always welcoming to have a friendly face when you got home. She taught me how to read and write and once I was able to read she dedicated numerous books to me that she always recommended and had such a vivid story. On hot summer days she would take us to the beach and play in the water and sand, or have a great time running around on the park, or just going there to enjoy a nice picnic. We had such a long walk to our front door of numerous winding steps and she came up with a game to play down them. We called ... ... middle of paper ... ... fantastic role model in my life and I will always look up to her. Having someone in your life that you consider special is a wondering feeling. And when this person has played so many different roles throughout my life it’s a magnificent feeling for her to feel so accomplished and so admired. When I think back to everything I’ve done I can’t look over the fact that the reason I did it is because she made me the fantastic person I am. I’m glad she passed all the things on to me and I hope I can do the same to next generations. The traditions that we have created are known throughout my entire family and I’m glad that we were both a part of them. She is an extraordinary person and I look forward to all the great memories I still have left with her to create. My Grandma is with out a doubt the most influential person in my life and I’m so grateful for her presence.
I can also thank Grandma for inspiring a love of animals in my mother and in myself. Grandma always had a cat around her house that she cared for. She loved watching animal shows on television, especially if they involved cats. In fact, she considered herself a cat person, until she met my dog Alex. I say 'my dog,' but he's really my Mom's dog now, and for a lot of the time, when my Mom was traveling on business, it was my Grandma's dog too. We knew that both Grandma and Grandpa really like Alex when they let him sleep on the chest at the foot of their bed - now THAT was a big deal!
had one daughter Gemma that was a year old. I stayed in hospital for a
Four years ago I lost a very special person in my life from cancer. My grandpa's death had a huge impact on my life along with my other family members. My grandpa was my biggest fan and probably the Wisconsin Badger's as well. Every game I could look into the stands and he would be there. Since he has passed, before every basketball game I think of him saying "Shoot a couple 3's for me tonight". I used this as an inspiration to do my best in every play of the game. My grandpa helped me set personal goals such as making fifty three's in a season, which I accomplished my last game of my junior year.
What makes person a hero? Is it fighting for your country in war, rescuing a “damsel in distress,” or being the one to discover cancer? All of that is heroic, but being a hero can mean many things and be the simplest things. To me, it is being brave and strong when all seems doomed. It is sacrificing things for the better of someone else. It is the smallest act of kindness that was not expected. My mother, Susan Marie McCartney, is my hero.
For as long as I can remember, my grandma has preached to me about the Lord. Though I am not a very religious person, my grandma’s teachings always showed me her passion, acting as the best person she possibly can. When she tells me about her favorite verses out of the Bible, she always gives me new insight as to why we should love everyone and not just the people we want. My grandma views the world in a way many people can not see; do not hold a grudge, always forgive, always learn from your experiences, and always trust in the Lord. She always gives and never expects anything in return. My grandma only ever asks for a thank you. In this way, she showed me true generosity and gratitude.
She had also shown me how it felt to lose someone you love; it was my first family member that passed away. There was never a devastated or mad time after her passing; it's strange, but she helped me know that saying goodbye was not necessarily a bad thing. At her funeral my sister and I drew her so many pictures to put in her casket so we could make her happy since she was going away. It pushed me to continue to push through obstacles and try my best so she would be proud of me.
My grandma always manages to keep a sense of humor, even when there’s not much humor in the situation. I am not afraid to admit that every time that I part ways with my grandparents at the end of a visit, I cry. Even when I am doing that, my grandma helps me feel better by saying something along the lines of “we’ll see you again soon” or mentioning something silly that happened during that visit. She always manages to make me feel better with her compassion. My grandma is always compassionate towards other. She cares about everyone she knows and will visit a friend who is in pain, even when it is out of her way. She is always giving up her time to help others. My grandma is resilient, even when she is in pain. She and my grandpa flew out here for the tulip festival my kindergarten year. Even when she fell in the airport and broke her hip, she came and was pushed around in a wheelchair that visit. And even now, when she has a slipped disc in her back and is in pain a lot, she never gives up. She may take longer to get places, but she still does things with her friends and family. My grandma is an amazing woman and I hope to be like her as I grow and
Although I am only sixteen years old and in the eleventh grade of high school, many things have influenced me and caused me to be the person that I am today. I hope that these things will continue to help me be a better person and influence me as my life continues. Some of the things that have influenced me have been church, my family, my friends, and school.
What does phenomenal mean to you? One dictionary states phenomenal means very remarkable. My great grandmother was a very sophisticated and remarkable woman. Phenomenal should have been her first name, because that she was. My great grandmother was a rare breed; many do not come like that anymore. Memories of my great grandmother take me to a happy place, and hold a special place in my heart.
This lady is the most wonderful person I 've ever met. She is old, affectionate, and intelligent. It took me eighteen years to realize how much this extraordinary person influenced my life. She 's the type of person who charms everyone with her stories and experiences. She always time for her family and friends. She is the kind of leader who does everything to keep her family together and in harmony. She is my grandmother.
My aunt had been an important person in my life since I was born. She helped me a lot through rough times and always was there if I needed anything. I could always remember the big family parties we had and she would give me money for a present. She was always nice to me and was a big part in my success at anything I was doing. I even used to call her 2nd mom sometimes.
Maria Oropeza or also known as Nana was my babysitter when I was younger. Now she is someone I know I could count with, someone who will be there to pick me up when I collapse. Nana is more than a nanny for me she is like a second mom and my best friend. Nana took care of me when I was in elementary and some part of middle school. She was always there when I had nightmares and when I was sick. She has been there for me in the hardest times of my life for moral support and for protection. Nana showed me how to be a better person, to never give up, and to always do my best. When I stayed over for the weekend, in the morning of every Sunday she made the most delightful pancakes I have ever tasted. The pancakes were warm and prefect they even had chocolate chip; which left the whole house smelling like chocolate.
While my grandma and grandpa lived with us for five years, our family portrait was painted perfectly, up until my grandparents passed away. Finances were smooth, all of our siblings including me were emotionally happy, and best of all my grandparents were healthy. They basically raised my sister, my brother and I while my mom was out of town a lot for her job. Among from teaching me to be a warrior, she also taught me to treat others with respect, to see good in people no matter what their mistake was, and to never give up on somebody who wants to quit. I love her so much and am so happy to have been blessed with an amazing grandmother like her. My grandmother’s wisdom, kind heart, strength and ambition was what I admired most about her. She would call me her special “Anna” but I was puzzled by her definition of what that could mean. One day, I finally asked her “Grandma what does this mean?” “You are unique Anna; don’t let anybody tell you different, you are a dream chaser and a gift from heaven.” Those exact words are a constant reminder to stay motivated no matter what hurdles I stumble
My grandmother has always been my biggest supporter throughout my life. My Grandmother is my back bone; she is the reason why I am the person that I am today. Most people hear the word grandmother and expect to see older lady with possible white hair, standing in the kitchen cooking and baking, evening sewing. My grandmother is the exact opposite of those things, she is still employed full time, enjoys making jewelry and furniture. Although she is only five two she is very witted and outspoken she never bites her tongue and will always give her opinion even if you don’t ask for it. There is a softer side to her, she will give you her last and be a listening ear day or night. Like the saying goes “to know me is to love me” and believe me
She has been my side ever since I was born. Lorena has always been more of a mother to me than my own mom. Of course she never planned on having another kid in the house I was very lucky she welcomed me with her arms wide open. My grandma has been a preschool teacher aid since before I was born. I was really nervous to go to preschool but my grandma was right there by my side to keep me comfortable because she was my preschool teacher aid too. My grandma has always had the sweetest heart. She is your typically grandma who is short, makes amazing food, and gives lots of hugs and kisses. I hope when I am older I can be half the women she is. There is not a thing that I don’t tell that women. Lorena has been there for me from riding my first bike to my college acceptance letter. My grandparents have never been one to pressure me to do things all they want is for me to be happy. Everyday my grandmother reminds of how proud she is that I’m going to college. She has made me unbelievably happy the past 18 years I am glad I can finally make her proud and happy.
