My first job as a Tutor It was hard to say goodbye and farewell to those memories and precious friends. It was the last day in my high school. My classmates including me were emotional as we did not know whether we might meet each other again after that day. We had to choose our own destination and apply to colleges. Some of the girls cried, hugged each other and took some pictures. Our class had a group chat on Viber. One of my classmate girl named Prasna said to everyone, “this group chat has to be forever”. She probably said this because she never wanted to forget all of us and to stay connected. Viber is where we chat, make fun of each other and discuss about assignments. At one moment, I felt like I don’t want to grow up that early and wanted to stay more years with these classmates. …show more content…
We used to play soccer every weekends. Likewise, when there was a champions league match on TV, we watched and woke up till 3am. Soccer is one of the most popular sport in Nepal these days. There are few fields available to play but they are all not in proper condition. Most of the time, we used to play indoor soccer and had to pay some amount for that. So, every time we went to play, there was cash outflow from our pockets. Most of the time, we used to hang out and go to different places that money was flowing so fast without realization. At that moment, I felt guilty as I was spending too much of my parent’s money. So, money became an issue for me. I realized that I needed a job so that I don’t have to ask my parents for money. I tried to find jobs in newspapers but nothing was interesting for me. These jobs required a person with some job experiences and bachelor diplomas which I did not have. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment is defined as people who do not have a job, have actively looked-for work in past weeks, and currently available for work. In short, I was
The basic definition of unemployment is without work. In macroeconomics, unemployment has a very precise definition and different types of unemployment. Unemployment is defined as the total number of adults (aged 16 years or older) who are willing and able to work and who are actively looking for work but have not found a job. (Miller 140).
Growing up all my friends had perfect jobs for teenagers. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time applying for jobs and searching for places to work because money didn’t come easy and I wanted to be in control of my own money. But I could never score a job. I applied to at least 100 jobs at least twice and I still couldn’t get an opportunity.
At the tender age of seven years old, my Grandmother taught me how to play blackjack. My Grandma on my Dads side would teach me how to bet and maximize my earnings. I remember how my Aunts and Uncles would tell each other and my Grandma that it was not a good idea to show me how to gamble. Every time we would visit my Grandparents I would always bring my money. In order to fund my card playing, I had to find ways to earn money. I would collect cans and bottles from neighbors. Just a few years later, I was mowing lawns, raking leaves, watching after pets, watering lawns and even waxing cars all over the neighborhood. My Dad would always complain about his lawn mower getting pushed up and down several different streets. As time went on, I started
I was hired quickly and kept my first job for a year. During that year, I worked quite often, which had affected my school work. I didn’t make time to study and went to bed late most nights. As much as I wanted to quit, I kept working. I wanted to quit, because I feared I couldn’t keep up with school anymore. It terrified me that I would fall so behind, and never get anywhere in life. I kept faith, and I worked hard to get where I am today. I never gave up. I did not like asking for money at home, because I knew everyone was already struggling. I felt like I needed my job, so that I could make money to pay for things myself. Without work, I wouldn’t have any lunch money for school. My grandparents helped as much as they could. It's not their job though, I felt that it wasn’t fair they had to keep spending their money on me. Working has taught me great skills. I was shy before my first job. I am now more outgoing and social; I love meeting new people. I still work to this very day, and I am working hard in school. With good time management, I’m able to keep up with
“I want a car!” says every soon to be sixteen-year-old. Nearing the age of sixteen my time came, I asked the coveted question. “Dad can I have a car?”. As the anticipation climaxed my father uttered a calm and reassuring “No.”. The answer “No” did not cross my mind as a potential outcome. What was I to do in the midst of this rejection? I could pout and not get anywhere towards my goal, or I could suck it up, get a job, and buy my own car. The very next week I had a job and was ferociously pursuing my goal. My father had no intention on stopping me but he did warn me that if I were to reach my goal, I should possibly consider applying for a second job. I now know what he was talking about, well, at least my wallet does anyways. Car expenses
According to Livermore (2008), people who are actively looking for work but are not currently in a contractual arrangement are considered unemployed. Since the recession in 2007, unemployment has been an ongoing problem in America. Many companies were laying off thousands of employees because they could not pay them. As of September 2011, the South and the West has the highest concentration of unemployment. Nevada has the highest jobless rate, 13.4%, followed by California with 12.1% (Cooper, 2011). The collapse of the housing bubble left Nevada with high rates of unemployment. South Carolina’s unemployment rate is 11.1% and is the fourth highest in the nation (Cooper, 2011). Most people had a hard time finding work because they were not familiar with filling out applications online; especially if they had been working for 30 years at the same company (Alpert, 2011). The labor market is governed by the laws of supply and demand. There are policies that address labor supply and labor demand.
In order to gain an understanding of independence and responsibility, I have held summer jobs in the preceding three years. I also worked to help myself financially in boarding school, insurance, a car, everyday necessities, and soon in college. My first summer job was at the Moonlite Drive In Theater.
My first job was at a grocery store I was excited of meeting new people, making friends, gaining experience, but most importantly was excited to earn my own money. My pay rate was nine ten and pay day was every Friday. The first day I worked was on a Sunday afternoon in which I worked a heavy eight hour shift from eight in the early morning to four in the calm afternoon. It was a very productive day I did many go-backs, the hourly
At a very young age I began to work, I think it was around the age of twelve. That might sound a little crazy in this day and age, but it 's true. My parents always told me if I wanted something I 'd have to go and get it, at that time I thought they were relating that statement to that awesome toy I wanted, but little did I know they were setting me for really life. My parents, were high school sweethearts and were married right out of high school, they began their
If you do not have a diploma from high school and diploma from a university then most likely the only jobs you will get is a low paying
At age 11 there really wasn’t much I could do to make money, so I did whatever it took, well almost, I tried staying away from housework. I remember washing my mother’s car for a couple of dollars but that was not enough for me to pay my way into Star Skate on a Friday night. I had to make “ends meet” as I saw it, so I decided to ask Becky for a job in her childcare center; at the time I was not really a kid-person, as a matter of fact I get annoyed by crying babies and winning toddlers but I thought it was worth a shot. I started working with Becky around 4:20 PM on Fridays, I would make sure all of the toys were picked up and in the mini plastic pool where I would sterilize them. I would scrub them with bleach and soap until my eyes started watering and...
When I was eleven years old, I knew that I could not work because I wasn’t old enough or even qualified to apply for a job. When I had nothing to do, I started hustling to make some money. Hustling at that time, meant that you were doing something positive to make money. I wanted to work because I needed money for things that my family could not afford. Hustling was not only a way to make money, but it also kept me out of trouble. During the summer and even on the weekends I would help out at
I quit my first job on April 1st and I was jobless until the month of May. My mom helped get a job at a Mexican restaurant called Los Jacales I was a weigther for that job and that job will pay me better than my last job even whenever I work the whole week. But then I will do the same stuff like last summer I was so desperate to have fun with my friends. My dad tries helping by giving me a 2,100 by the end of seven weeks but every week I have to give him $300 and by the end of the seven weeks I got my money and I put it in my saving account but, two weeks later $1,500 was gone I spent it in expensive brand when instead I could've got more if I shop at a cheaper place. But luckily, I did the same thing with my dad by giving him $300 every week.
unemployment was something that I knew very well that you hear in the news every day but the news news doesn 't go into the depth of how what and how it happens. It is broken down the total population, from non-labor force into civilian noninstitutional labor force. And I didn 't know there 's type of job terms. I don 't know there 's a job loser a job lever reentrant or new
The most common causes of unemployment are getting fired and layed off for specific reasons. People might get layed off if a company is going out of business or maybe if there are positions in the company that are no longer needed. It’s difficult to find a job right away after being fired. Companies don’t want to hire someone who has just been fired for reasons such as failure to do a sufficient job, not showing up to work, stealing, etc. It’s also hard to find a job instantly after being layed off. In some cases the economy is down and it is hard to find any work in general.
