The coach was giving a speech to the team to get them pumped up. Each coach had something different to say. But they were all ready for the game. This game was the biggest game of the year. It was two of the best teams in the area and both teams are really competitive. Both teams came out on the field and the national anthem played. Offensive Play It’s time for kickoff. The kicker tee’s up the ball and is waiting for the call from the referee so he can kick the ball. The tension is building up with the opposing team as they await the kick. The whistle blows and the referee gives him the clear to kick the ball.
Tittle, talks...how the winning play came about. “On fourth down, I called a play,” said Tittle, “that sent Joe Arenas, faking into the line, as I would leap a jump pass to Soltau, cutting into the left corner of the end zone. Perry was the trailer just in case trouble developed. But, I fumbled the hand off. Perry saw me drop the ball, as he didn't follow Soltau. Perry ran to my left hollering for me to pitch him the ball. I grabbed it and did what he said. He picked it up and ran around the corner past diving defenders to get our winning score. That was all there was to
The rules of American football can be really hard to understand at first, especially the level of play. First the game of football is a timed sport. It’s divided up with 4 quarters and a halftime to give players a break and fans time to go to the
On Sundays in the fall people all over the world are watching pro football. But do they know how it came to be or how the rules have gotten to be the way they are today? Most people don’t, so I am going to tell you all about it.
First of all, the rules of football require one to equip himself with approximately twenty pounds of equipment, including a helmet, shoulder pads, and girdle pads. This is because football has the most contact involved out of all sports. In a football game, the norm is that the home team wears colorful jerseys and the visiting team wears white jerseys. Moreover, if a team’s offense is on the field, their defense is on the sideline. A team’s offense includes a center, who snaps the ball to the quarterback. The “QB” then has a choice to run with the ball, hand it off to a running back, or throw it to a wide receiver. The quarterback has an offensive line to protect him from the assailing defense. If a teammate happens to score a touchdown, he earns his team six points, which allows for the kicker to kick an extra point, and give his team a total of seven points. However, if the offense fails to travel at least ten yards within four attempts, or “downs,” they have the opti...
Friday night rolled around, it was the game we had all been working so hard for. Knowing we were seniors, we knew it would be the end of the journey.
A football field is one hundred and twenty yards long and fifty three feet wide. It is divided into one hundred yards of the playing field and two ten yard long end zones on each side of the field. In football, there are twenty-two players on the field at a time with eleven of those players coming from each team. It is played with a football that is made of leather and rubber and is filled with air. The players are separated into two different roles, offense and defense. The offensive players’ role is to score touchdowns while the defensive players’ role is to prevent the offense from scoring touchdowns. A touchdown is awarded when the offensive team moves the ball across a solid line at the end of the field before the end zone. After a touchdown is scored the offensive team is afforded the opportunity of gaining an extra point by kicking a football through a field goal post in the end zone. If the offense is unable to gain ten yards after four attempts, then it is a turnover and the ball is given to the other team, but usually a team will kick the ball away if unsuccessful in three downs. A football game at the professiona...
As I looked at the scoreboard all I was focusing on was the running clock…25...24...23...22... "One last play and this things over" I said to my teammates in the huddle. "The easiest play in all of football baby!" RJ exclaimed to me. 18…17…16...15 I ran up to the line, a sigh over relief came over me. I knew I did it again. "HIKE!" And all I had to do was take a knee. 12... 10.... 8... 6...4...2...1. Game over, 55-49. In my head all I could think about was the MVP of the game: ME.

The score was 20-21, the Vikings were losing to the Cowboys with 3 seconds left, and they were at their own 47 yard line. The winner of the game would advance to the Super Bowl. Sam Bradford the Vikings star quarterback took the snap and handed the ball to to the Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson began to run the the ball to the right side, but then he did something that nobody expected. Patterson stopped and threw the ball deep to wide receiver Adam Thielen. He caught the ball at the 10 yard line surrounded by two defenders. Right before being tackled Thielen lateraled the ball back Stefon Diggs, who ran untouched into the endzone for the winning touchdown.
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
And then it happens. The person in front of you sprints on the field his stick raised above his head and you are next. Suddenly you're being told to get on the turf. The stadium is dark and then out of nowhere, firecrackers light up, as you rush on the playing field.

Game Time: we walked onto the field with our heads high and our pride shining. The strut in our walk should that we would not back down to anyone, or anything, there would be no opponent to large or any weather to ferocious to cause us to lose this game.
Green Bay served the ball next. It was a low, hard jump serve. It was a long volley filled with powerful hits and awesome teamwork. Green Bay won the volley and scored a point. After that Green Bay scored a couple more points before they had a side out. The Phoenix was hitting so well and they were getting the other team so frustrated the coach took a time-out. During the time-out the crowd was clapping loudly and some of the college students were cheering taunting cheers at the opposing team. The girls came back from the time-out and it was Green Bay's serve. The girl serving didn't let the time-out get to her and she served an ace serve. The ball went back and forth between each team with Youngstown State scoring a few points here and there but Green Bay remained ahead the entire first game and took the first game.
