My first day in United States was very exciting for me. I came here with my family at the end of 2012. It was the winter season. My uncle’s family went to the airport to pick up my family and me. When we arrived at my uncle's house at seven pm. We met with many cousins and relatives. They came to visit us. It was exciting for me because, we haven't seen them a long time. They have been stayed here about sixteen years. When I was child they came to the United States. When I was in my country I heard a lot of stories about this country. Many people live in the United States and they speak different languages and people come from many different countries. I am interested to see them and hear different languages. We stayed a couple of weeks
Within the few minutes of meeting, my cousins and I were treating each other as if we had lived together for years. We were sharing crazy memories and laughing like old friends. Just in the car ride to my grandmother’s house, we shared secrets among ourselves and sang our hearts out to our favorite tunes. Once we arrived, I met my grandparents for the very first time in person, and they embraced me as if I was their own daughter.
I remember the first time I came to America; I was 10 years old. Everything was exciting! From getting into an airplane, to viewing magnificent, huge buildings from a bird’s eye view in the plane. It was truly memorable. After staying few days at my mother’s house, my father and I wanted to see what Dallas looks like. But because my mother was working the whole day, it wasn’t convenient for her to show us the area except only on Sundays. Finally, we went out to the nearby mall with my mother. My father and I were astonished after looking at a variety of stores. But after looking at different stores, we were finally tired and hungry, so we went into McDonald’s. Not being familiar with fast food restaurants, we were curious to try American
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
Her cousins told her about places they would like to take her like swimming in the river and the mango farm, and they also wanted all their friends to meet their cousin from America. In the following couple of days the ceremonies were held for her grandpa. After they were done her parents began to plan the rest of their stay to visit their old friends and catch up and to take my mom to visit family that lived in nearby towns. They also wanted to celebrate her birthday early so she could experience a party and their towns tradition. My mom described it as "everything was so different from home, but so nice"
As I boarded the plane to move to the United States, the beginning of September 2005, I couldn’t help but think about all that I left behind; My family, my friends, my school, my clothes, and all of the awesome cultural food. Then again, I looked forward to this new life, a new beginning. I imagined it being like life in the movies, where everything seemed easy and life was just beautiful. After all, I was going to the States; the place where most people only dreamt of. I felt very blessed to have this opportunity because I knew that it wasn’t given to everyone. Coming to America marked my coming of age because I left behind my old life, I started life afresh, and I became a much grateful person.

My first day was an important step in my life, though stressful, somewhat of a paradox, feelings of elation and feelings of displacement, confusing at first but nonetheless, I was here. I felt so small among so many people, looking for a familiar face in the crowd, but there was none.
It was a very cold morning on November 7th, 2000; my family and I walked into the big busy building not knowing what to expect, it was my first time ever being in an airport. It was also the first time for all of us to fly on an airplane. I was a curious six year old and the youngest of all my siblings. I would ask a lot of questions to my mom like “When will I go to school? What language do they speak in America? Will we have a big house in America?” We were all very nervous but, excited not knowing what to expect when we arrive in America. My parents took a big chance

It was about two years ago when I arrived in United States of America, and I still remember the day when I left my native country, Honduras. As I recall, one day previous to my departure, I visited my relatives who live in San Pedro Sula. They were all very happy for me to see me except my grandmother Isabel. She looked sad; even though she tried to smile at all times when I was talking to her, I knew that deep inside of her, her heart was broken because of my departure the next morning. I remember that I even told her, “Grandma, do not worry about me, I’ll be fine. I promise that I will write you letters and send you pictures as much as possible.” Here reply was, “I know sweetie I know you will.” Suddenly after she said that I started to cry. For som...
My heart was pounding as I boarded my flight leaving the Bangkok International Airport. A flight attendant in a grey dress with a red bow draped over her shoulder announced; “Welcome aboard flight AA350 to the United States.” My journey began that day.
The first thing that got my attention in this image was the only person that you can clearly see standing with a suitcase on the floor looking at the train. Living in Florida and have not been in another state or country except for Puerto Rico and Tennessee I have never been in a train station. Looking at this picture I see many people that might be coming in or leaving to take another place to start a new life and that particular person wondering if he is taking the right decision on leaving. I can relate with this image taking the place of that person with the suitcase on his feet. Being in college, I have many opportunities to select from where I want to further education in, but I can not ever decide. The train symbolizes the time that
