Describe in detail your first day in college According to the College Health website, “No one is immune from stress, but those entering the ivory towers of college are particularly vulnerable to it.” Attending college for the first time gave me a feeling of displacement, nonetheless, I maintained my sense of priority, I am here to learn, here to excel, and here to focus on my objective. My first day was an important step in my life, though stressful, somewhat of a paradox, feelings of elation and feelings of displacement, confusing at first but nonetheless, I was here. I felt so small among so many people, looking for a familiar face in the crowd, but there was none. My first day in college gave me a feeling of accomplishment. Yes,
I was excited but also stressed. There was so much to learn and so much, I still had to do. I was not quite sure where to begin. I did not have my books; I had to wait until the money came through, and so that was a problem. I was told that I could go to the Library and borrow the books I needed for class, so I did just that.
Everyone has experienced some type of stress in their life. Whether it has been from work, school, or trouble at home, stress is stress. If anyone had played sports in high school, you know the challenge of balancing school and sports. Imagine that stress, then multiply it exponentially. Everyone knows that college is a much more rigorous version of high school.

Students entering college for the first time become concerned with their college life. The students are on their own once they enter college. There are no parents or guardians telling them when to do homework, when to go to bed, or how to eat healthy. These students are now responsible for how they are going to succeed in school and meet their own needs. From the beginning, these students wonder what their experience is going to be like and are they going to handle the demands of college?
According to an article by Josephine Marcotty in Minneapolis’ Star Tribune from April 10, college students lead “hyper-enriched lives,” said Greg Kneser, dean of students at St. Olaf College. That’s what makes this generation of students distinct from its predecessors, he said. That is why more students who cannot cope with these feelings end up at college counseling centers with “increasingly serious mental-health problems.” 15 to 20 percent of college students nationally were diagnosed with depression. The second most common diagnosis was severe anxiety. According to the article, it is not unusual for mental-health issues to become apparent during a student’s college years.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to never give up and that everything in life happens for a reason. Going to college can be an exciting new experience that can challenge a person more than he or she thought was possible. Attending college, especially for the first time, can be a very stressful time in a person’s life. Some of the stress that is associated with attending college are living in a new place, having to meet new people, having new responsibilities, and of course the homework that goes along with taking classes. If a person does not learn to cope with these stressors in a healthy way, that person may become very overwhelmed and possibly depressed (Hoeger & Hoeger, 2010) .To keep one’s body and mind safe from the overexposure of stress, they can practice the following techniques.

“Beep, Beep, Beep!” It was six o’clock in the morning and my alarm clock woke me up 4to prepare for the first day of my Senior Year. I slowly arose from my deep sleep and strolled toward my closet as if I were a snail. After twenty minutes of contemplating heavily, I finally reached a decision on my outfit.
