Lessons can be learned from the littlest of experiences. Important life lessons can be taken from not only success, but also our greatest failures. Adversity can greatly alter our perspective and provide an individual with wisdom. The first time I was faced with adversity was when I broke my tibia and fibula. I was involved in sports and this was definitely a setback, to say the least. Moments after the accident, I realized that the months of recovery I would have to toil. I realized these future and upcoming months would require patience and I would undergo great amounts of drudgery.
I had to wear my cast for what seemed an elongated time. I could not take my cast off until my bones were fully healed from the surgery. This took about a total
of three months, which did not seem long until I learned it would take an additional three months of physical therapy to assure that my bones were capable of performing at my former level. In approximately six months I had to endure long sessions of exercises just to get back to where I was. In this time span I could have made great strides of improving instead of settling to an average level. However, I did not let this incident prevent me from participating in sports. I was still working daily on myself. I knew that if I wanted to participate in sports, with confidence, this would be a very important step for me. I had to experience what it was like to sit on the sidelines of practice for the beginning of football. This was very hard for me and I admit, I did get a little emotional. However, this incident did not affect my optimistic outlook on life. I was still involved and going about in my usual way, but I was affected in a positive way. I learned what it was like for something to happen to me that was not exactly my fault. Sometimes in life, events happen that could really change somebody’s life. This being a smaller situation in terms of impact, I did not let this get to my head too much. In my opinion, there is nothing we can do about what happens to us, yet I believe we can control how we react to it.
On top of that, I learned a valuable lesson from the failure and the loss as well. From that day forth, the past experiences transformed me to be a hard-working and responsible person. Furthermore, I acknowledged that when something bad happens, it can prepare us for the future obstacles, so let always be optimistic and never give up on trying.
Adversity can wreck your life. Adversity can lay you so low that you never recover. But if you stand up to adversity, it can also make you stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. No matter what your background, no matter what your family life is like, and no matter what obstacles are thrown your way, if you have someone who loves you and looks out for you and if you have a
The lessons are numerous and range from trivial to profound, but there’s one that's had the most impact on my life. Fortunately, I was born into a unconditionally loving family with good health and parents that I feel comfortable talking to under almost any circumstance. Until I got to really know my friends, I was aware that not everybody’s lives were like this but never really understood what a life without those privileges was like. But then my perspective changed when I found out that a couple of my friends have terrible relationships with their parents and suffer from depression and anxiety. Another one of my friends suffers from chronic migraines and has been hospitalized three times in the past year. All of my friends are incredible individuals, and knowing in detail of what they withstand on a daily basis has made me more empathetic to the people around me. I think we all forget sometimes that other people are people, we subconsciously go into this state of mind thinking we’re the center of the whole world. But in actuality, that is not the case; everyone else has their own unique lives and issues they’re dealing with. So what I’ve learned by knowing of my friends’ distinctive stories is just to be more cognizant of others. It's difficult to have that state of mind all the time, but in doing so I have better relationships with
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gaining a broader perspective on life.
Even though I have had some hardships in my life, I know that I have learned from the mistakes that I made or that other people made. I will take the things that I have learned and apply them to my own life. Dealing with these situations have made me a better person today and I know that it was better to go through these hard times than to never have experienced something like this. Staying positive and adding a little bit of humor to situations has helped me through the harder times in life. In life, there will always be ups and downs. It is good to learn from the down times rather than let them take
Life lessons are good for people. They can help you more than they can hurt you. They really don’t hurt you, because they are like warnings for the bad stuff out in the world today. They are just little helpful hints. They are especially helpful when you are in the time of need. If a life’s lesson hurts you, you are using them in the wrong way.
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
In addition, I learned from my experience that life is full of challenges. These obstacles in life are hindrances for us to be successful. However, instead of limiting ourselves, we must make our challenges as inspiration to move forward and continue with the complexities of life. I made my extreme wrath to my father as inspiration to have a good life. I studied so hard because this is the only way to escape the evilness of my father.
In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity. It has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. “No more Basketball for the rest of the season.” Those words repeated in my head for hours as I thought about what a careless decision I had made three nights prior to my horrific accident.
As I grew up throughout my childhood I accepted the word “no” from my parents with blatant frustration. I grew up in a well off home and never had to worry about where I will spend the night or if I will be able to eat that night, I used to never be as thankful as I should have for those reasons. Thoughts constantly ran rampant through my head of, “Mommy and daddy have so much money why can’t I have this!” I never grasped the fact of if my parents could provide me with a certain luxury that I did not need but wanted, why they did not. As a child I saw all the kids around me with many luxuries I desired but could not have as my parents refused, although I was completely unaware of their own financial status as a kid I could only look at everyone
The obstacles we face in life have ways of shaping and molding us into the people we become in the future. Depression and anxiety are issues that I still continue to deal with to this day. Yet, through years of self healing, I have been able to reveal a tenacious side of myself that I had no idea even existed. These issues stem from relentless bullying I experienced throughout middle school. I felt as if I was not worthy of respect like everyone else around me. Going to school day after day with people who detested my existence was unbearable. It was like walking into a lion's den wearing a necklace constructed of nothing more than meat. On many occasions walked in on conversations that I was the topic of. Eighth grade brought me the most turmoil. I would
Everyone in life experiences failure. It can affect people positively or negatively and that all depends on how they react to the experience. If one lets their failure overcome their dreams, it will lead them in the wrong path. But if one views their failures as a motive to succeed and grow, then they are on their way to becoming successful. For me, I let my failures in life help build onto my character and define the person I am today. My childhood injury is my example as I let this moment affect the outcome of my dreams I had then.
Throughout my elementary school years, I encountered many obstacles, but during my fourth grade career, I experienced some of the most difficult hardships I have ever gone through. I was an extremely loquacious, bright, and well-rounded young girl. My mother; a spontaneous, caring and kind person had recently been engaged to a man named Dennis. Dennis was a unique, creative, and very humorous man. We welcomed him into our petite family and he opened our eyes to some of the most enjoyable moments of our lives. He taught us how to be ourselves and showed us the genuine definition of family. My brother; a friendly, family oriented, and athletic teenager shared a strong relationship with Dennis just as much as I did. We were all so delighted living
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. When they got home I didn’t tell them what I saw because i've seen Halloween movies and I have to have dissimulation otherwise the ghost will come out and get me first. October 24, 1998 I think I got a little nervous yesterday with the whole ghost thing. 12:32pm, Went to eat lunch with the family today and I go to get my coat. I heard the words furious and madness,
Field experience was a unique experience for me, and also the most stressful. This was one of the parts of my academic career that would decide if I really wanted to be an elementary school teacher. Although I was not paired with a student who required special education, I was paired with a student who needed help. The actions I observed with this student was how she interacted with the teacher and other students.
