Today was a lot more exciting than Tuesday, we had a good number of patients scheduled for different things. I went on both sides of the operatory and saw more interesting stuff on Dr. Williams side. The dental assistant was taking some impressions for a full set of dentures and basically showed me everything that needed to be done for the full set of dentures to be made. The next patient was a doctor and he could not hear for nothing. So, the whole time me and the hygienist was talking he could not hear anything we had to say. At the very end after he was all done, he looked up at the hygienist and said were you guys talking crap about me. I was like no sir we were not. The next patient on the assistant’s side just came in for Invisalign impressions
to get fitted for them. After that patient was done, it was dental society meeting at the Greenville Convention center, so the dentists had to leave early. After the dentists left, we had no more patients scheduled the rest of the day. We all decided we wanted to clean out the lines and let me tell you, they were disgusting. The dental assistant was trying to clean out the pipes with a cotton tip applicator because the lines were backed up and she ended up getting the cotton part of the applicator stuck in the line. We ended up have to take the line apart and cut the line because nothing was suctioning up at all with the saliva ejector. After we cut the line, she could not get the piece back on the line. We finally got it back on the line and it started working again. The was basically the end of the day and we all left.
For my first clinical observation, I was assigned to the trauma unit and it was not what I expected it to be. I thought the trauma unit would be fast pace and there would be nurses and doctors rushing everywhere, however, I did not see any of that. Instead, it was quite peaceful and this was probably because my clinical observation was from 10-12 p.m. When I met up with my senior nurse, she showed me a binder that contained all of her patients’ diagnoses, lab reports, treatments, and vital signs, which was a lot to take in because most of the terms she used, I had no idea what they were. After looking at the reports, she showed me a patient who had gunshot wounds on his back and abdomen. I could tell he was in a lot of pain by the tone of

Orthodontic treatment has aided me in several ways. It helped keep my teeth looking perfect and straight. It aided me with self-discipline, and it made me a more responsible person. My mood also changed drastically, putting me in a better mood every time I smile. Most importantly, orthodontic treatment has taught me to be who I am today.
I have searched the entire web with no success looking for a story that I can relate to. I read many great stories and they were all inspiriting in their special ways, some were very closed to my story, and they were closed to bring tears into my eyes, yet they were not close enough. I search for months, until I realized that we all had a unique story.
When I learned that I would have to do my ethnographic report on what I did during Halloween, I was worried because I live in Turnpike and the most excitement that happens in turnpike is the sound of the garbage truck when it comes to pick up the Wednesday trash. Fortunately something did happen to me and I realized I would not have to write a boring paper of how I woke up and just stayed in my room the whole day. Well the day started off with me waking up and walking to the bathroom to take a shower, as soon as the turned the water on I realized I had left my shower and rather than turning off my shower I stayed in because the warmth of the hot water was too seductive for me to get out and get my towel. In the shower I had my usual thoughts about life, death, and comebacks to old arguments. Afterword I got out of my shower and reached for my toothbrush, which was located in a cupboard behind the toilet, but I grabbed at it too quickly and it fell in the toilet. I stood over my toilet for about five minutes just staring at my toothbrush in the toilet not believing what just happened, after that I started blaming myself for being too impatient. When I was done feeling sorry for myself I went into my room in search of another toothbrush but unluckily I couldn’t find one, so I had to go walk to the local store at around 7:30 in search of a toothbrush. While searching for a replacement toothbrush I realized that not that many people were in the store, I had always thought that stores were busiest in the morning and evening but apparently that’s not true. Once I got my new toothbrush I finished brushing, got dressed and went to catch the 11 to the Transit Center.
It was a doctor looking for Kamryn which was my name, he asked me if I knew anyone named Olivia Hudspeth. I said yes “Do you have any news about her?” “Yes I found her” He replied. “Some of the ceiling had fallen on her legs.” The man said, “Is she okay?”
It's important for any high school student to have an idea or plan of what they want to pursue in the near future. Most students want to go into the medical field, become a professional athlete, a lawyer, etc. Many talk about becoming a dentist, but not a dental assistant. Simply because they feel like it's not that big of a title of being a dental assistant as compared to a dentist. Little do they know dental assistants play a big role as well in the office. A dental assistant does many tasks and duties that help benefit the dentist and also the patients.
I was able to experience some pretty amazing things that caught my attention before knowing I wanted to become a dental assistant. I never truly understood what all is involved in the dental world until I found myself in it and learned the importance of it! It takes great patience and understanding! But at what point did I really realize I wanted to do it? What got me hooked?
Did you know that the dental assisting profession has been projected to grow 18 percent during the years of 2014 through 2024, which is much faster than the average for all other occupations? And from there who knows, the sky's the limit. But what exactly does a dental assistant do?
The big day was finally here! I woke up around four in the morning to get my hair and makeup done. I had stayed in Fort Worth at my aunt’s house, since the lady doing my hair lived closed to her. So already it starts to go bad. The lady called in saying she couldn’t make it because her car broke down, so of course I start freaking out. I needed my hair and makeup done a.s.a.p. so I could be on my way home to Jacksboro. My aunt started to call some people she knew and I waited impatiently starting to do my own make up. Finally, after what seemed like forever another lady
I come in here and do what I'm asked without hesitation, I am always a team player. I don't complain about things, I am always respectful and professional to my co-workers and our patients. Everything that I wanted to do this year have been placed on hold because of this. I didn't plan on being a Front Office Assistant forever. Whenever something happens in this office you can ask my manager I am always trying to think of the bigger picture and find ways to improve things here. The accusations that were brought against me are totally not my character. Take some time to ask the people I work with on the daily.
The doctor's office was crowded as I checked in at the front desk. "Do you have insurance?" the lady at the window asks several times before I realized she was talking to me. "I'm just here to talk to the doctor about my lab results" I squeaked, "Sign here, Please."
1)Why do you want to be a Dental Assistant? I love people and that is why I want to become a Dental assistant. Being a huge people person and I'm always willing to learn, adapting is essential to this line of work and that is why I will be a perfect fit for the dental assistant program. Getting to know the patients and spending time with them is one of the reasons I am really looking forward to my future as a DA. I am an empathetic person and easily relate to others. This will really help me to be able to provide my patients with the best possible care. Originally I had planned on applying to Manhattan Area Technical College for their Dental Hygienist program. They require that all applicants have a minimum of forty hours experience shadowing
I spent an early part of my life in a developing country called Bangladesh which was a stark contrast to my life in the United States. Despite living in the capital city of Dhaka, which has a busy urban landscape, what always struck me was the sad state of the people struggling with poverty. There were malnourished children and individuals suffering from diseases on the streets. These memories have stuck with me and inspired me to go into a profession that provides service to people in need. People in my family have a diverse range of profession, but my dentist aunt who has done extensive volunteer work through her profession has always been a great role model for me. Last year, my aunt went on a dental service trip to Ecuador and provided free dental care to people who don’t have access to proper healthcare. These
I began taking advanced placement classes to challenge myself, to be the best I can be. Although it was difficult to maintain good grades, practice 10 hours a week for the swim team, and working a part-time job, I enjoyed the push and the outcome I received at the end. Due to wanting to be in the Medical field, I took Honors Anatomy and Physiology in order to learn more about the human body; prepare myself for the memorization and the use of note cards. All the information felt like my head was bottled up, I wanted to enjoy my high school years, because “they pass by so fast, make the best of them” my brother would constantly say to me but failed to mention if I really wanted to do what I loved, I had to let all that go and focus on school; which became my biggest responsibility. There were times where I just wanted to take the easy way out and drop the class, but I knew no good would come from that; instead I balanced out my schedule by prioritizing my time between school, practice and work.
