Personal Narrative: My Educational Journey

Throughout my educational journey, I have met and overcome many of challenges. There are a few obstacles that were not the easiest to overcome, but hard work and dedication pulled me through. One challenge will always be with me and will never be forgotten. It is one that I know will help me through the times when I have no will to work. When the tides turn, and the work begins to weigh me down, I will always look back and remember replay this memory in my head.
During my junior year of high school, my partner and I made it to state competition for Additive Manufacturing. The journey we faced to make it there is another story, but not as important as the obstacle we faced at state. At state competition, our computer crashed only five

minutes into our competition. Our teacher was going crazy, as she stood outside the boundaries of the competition area, not able to talk to neither us nor the judges. We began to think about what we were going to do, now that we were sitting there without the most important tool for our success. The only chance we had was sitting within the memory of that computer.
We came to the conclusion that we had to forget about the computer and take the loss.

We began to brainstorm ideas of how we were going to bring all the ideas together and present what we really know to the judges. We were hoping we could express ourselves the best we could and maybe get lucky. We started sketching ideas down on paper and writing down what we know and what we wanted to tell the judges.
After three long hours of redesigning and getting our final product, it was time for our presentation. We went to the judges table, sat down and began our five minute presentation. We explained our complications and went on like it never even bothered us. We finished up right at five minutes as planned, shook the hand of the judges and walked back to our table. We packed up our things and walked out of the competition area.
After a sleepless night of worrying about how we did in our competition, it was finally the time we have been waiting for, for nearly two months. The awards ceremony was about to be underway. We were next to the last to get announced for our awards, but it all payed off in the end. We got gold medal and were getting a chance to go to National Competition in June. We made sure we got a brand new computer to use at nationals and we ended up getting silver medal at National

competition.
There are always speed bumps along the road to everything, and it is what you do to overcome them is what makes a person strong. The accomplishments that come with Challenges truly are amazing, and make memories that one can never forget.
