Above all else, my determination is the quality value the most about myself. In my freshman and sophomore years of highschool, I was barely passing with "D" grades. I was in cyber school at the time and battling mental health issues. Once I recognized the problem, I enrolled in public high school and made up 16 credits within my last two years. This meant I had to drop a lunch period in order to take an additional class. My grades immediately raised to A's as I pushed my way into a future that would not have been possible without that change. After a semester at Moravian College, I have earned a 4.0. I am on the path of a Mathematics and Economics double major. My determination to complete my degree has helped me thrive through college and
I am certain my grades will continue in this positive trend. As I come from an impoverished family, the biggest struggle I have come to face is the fact that my parents are unable to assist me in any way regarding my college expenses. I have a disabled mother and a step-father who works a manual labor job, so the entirety of their limited income barely supports them. My ultimate dream is to become an Actuary and support my family so we can become stable.
Encouragement plays a significant role in my success. Without encouragement, the achievement won't come true. Juliet Ferking, the author of "A Drive to Achieve the Extraordinary" from This I Believe: Life Lessons, tells her story about how she succeeds at things that normal people don't. No matter what people say, she achieved big things in her life. Her only encouragement are those who actually supported her (Ferking). My connection to Ferking's essay is that without the encouragement that my family and friends are giving me, I wouldn't have the motivation to pursue my degree to have a good career. Even if other people ridicule my choice of degree, I won't succumb to their words.
The number one thing that motivates me the most in college is the fact that I recognize this is not the end. I have to work hard to obtain where I want to be at in life. I identify that I did not want to settle with just being a high school graduate and wanted to do something additional with my life.
As I’m sitting here typing this, I thought this assignment would be easy but it’s not. How do you explain who you are in a paper? Where do I begin? Well, for starters, my personality, ambitions, and what I love doing should be the best standard for defining my character. One should never be anxious if they do not know everything about themselves, as we are constantly learning and discovering new features of ourselves. Personally, I am satisfied knowing my friends are worth it and consider me an asset. I’m the shortest one in my group of friends which puts me somewhat the end of the ladder. Someone might judge me just because of the way I look or act but, if they could just get to know me even more and see my personality they can see me in a whole new way.
I am an undocumented student at UC Davis. When I am asked a simple question such as, "describe your personal experiences", I ask myself: Where do I begin?
Perhaps my most gratifying research experience was also my biggest research obstacle. During my early undergraduate research in Professor Paul Sternberg’s Lab, I had grown to learn how to communicate science, determine the important experiments to conduct and obtain the necessary laboratory skills. These experiences came from my project in engineering C. elegans to express a photosensitive archaea proton pump in the mitochondrial membrane to explore how we can engineer a more efficient strain of C. elegans. In this process, I learned to construct plasmids using molecular biology and learned to introduce these genetic changes by injections and genetic crosses. Each successive step, I learned to troubleshoot and optimize. The hardest task to
It's hard for me to say where I'll be in the years to come, already my life has strayed from the path I once thought it would follow. However, that doesn't change my motivation or determination to reach and excel at my personal goals. My whole life I've endured a system that dictated what should be important to me, and while it's helped me learn the practical skills I need outside of an academic setting, I have a passion to grow further from what's expected of me, and so with much enthusiasm I look forward to attending college in which I hope to achieve more by constantly learning and expanding my personal knowledge.
Motivation is by being dedicated. I motivate myself by doing the things I love. Dedication will advance to motivation.
Many of my goals have been met through my hard work and dedication through my mother's constant pressure to do well in school. To give a clear example of what I mean, there was the time that I got Principal's Honor Roll. In order to get Principal’s Honor Roll I had to work very hard and maintain a G.P.A of 4.0 or above with no U’s or fails. Many times, I had to sacrifice going to parties, hanging out with friends to do my homework just to study for a test. Many times, I had to stay up very late to finish an assignment or study. My hard work allowed me to meet my goal of getting Honor Roll. If I didn’t work hard and dedicated myself into pursuing to get Principal’s Honor Roll I would have probably never got it. This has impacted me in a very positive way because I know that in order to obtain what I want I have to work hard, dedicate myself, and commit myself to that goal. My grades are another great example of my hard work and dedication. If I didn’t work hard to obtain all A’s , I would have probably never have got a 4.0 G.P.A. in my report card and would not get the Principal’s Honor Roll award. My dedication to succeed in life has made me into the person that I am
A determination that helped me, through school classes, establish the field of study I wanted to pursue in life (engineering) and that transformed me from the bare minimum student to the honors student in order to make my newly found dream a reality. By junior year my conviction paid off and I was able to join my schools Science National Honors Society. In which I became a leader for my peers by tutoring those who sought help in science and math related courses. This opened numerous opportunities in my life to pursue, the main being EIS. With the help of the SNHS club teacher it allowed me to join the Executive Internship Society at Grandview high school.
Every story is different and every person has different priorities to drive them to better themselves. The main priority in my life right now is providing a better life for my two year-old daughter, Cheyenne. Every decision I have made over the past two years has centered on what would be best for her and how I can provide the best life possible for her. Not only do I want to provide the best life I can for her financially, but I want to be able to instill in her a sense of discipline, hard-work, and dedication so she can follow whatever dreams she may have later in her life. Pursuing a doctorate in physical ...
After completing the personal values and awareness test, commitment and trust were the two personal values I highly value. I agree with the results currently, because I am striving to have a successful future by being committed to school. As well as being committed, I am also trusting in myself to fulfill my dreams. I believe the two values reflect how I like to be effectives in my endeavors and ensure I am able to spend quality time on my personal pursuits. My next highest personal values were accountability, balance(home/work), and independence.
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
perfect grades to be satisfied, and so I'm always working as hard as I can. It
School was always a priority yet, I still had personal responsibilities and issues. I had issues that affected me no matter how much I tried to remain focused. Even through all the issues and obstacles, I always had my goals and I knew I wanted to reach them. I learned that I cannot have a straightforward plan for everything. I know I can repeatedly set goals and remain focused, but I also understand that I will constantly have obstacles to overcome.
Education is important in my life, because through my education I want to become a successful person . I’m not sure yet what I want to become to be successful, but being motivated, determined, and dedicated is what I’m doing to strive and see the person I can be. To become what I want to become I am first going to have to graduate from high school. And to succeed for me to graduate on time I’m going to be very motivated very dedicated and also very determined to accomplish my goal. Getting through high school for me is a struggle.
