Ah! I see you have come to hear my story. Well, I warn you now; I am advanced in years and might forget some parts. My story is filled with adventure, new beginnings, and confusion. But enough! I will begin.
I was a girl of just 15, ready to explore the outside. I lived in an ancient city, named Baktrahkpi. This city was on a mysterious island, where many centuries ago, it was decided by the gods that each quarter moon the island would vanish and appear in a new spot, never quite the same one. One morning, on my 15th birthday I decided I wanted to go and explore, for I was now considered a woman. I knew the island like that back of my hand, but there was this other land in the distance that was miles away. I didn’t tell my parents where I wanted to go, so instead I knocked on my best friend’s door. His name was Sif. I had known him for my whole life. He was never like a brother though. He was always closer than that; more like a missing part of soul that was complete with him.
After saying good-bye to our parents, we got his boat and set off to the docks. I had never been past t...
There is a place where not far from my hometown, which, since my childhood, still holds the secrets to life. It was a place where we were free. Free to do whatever we wanted to do, say whatever we wanted to say, it was our place, our river. It was a simple place, no paved or asphalt roads for the commotion of busy traffic, no tall buildings to block out the sunlight, no sense of time to feel rushed or anxious, no effects from the outside world. It was a beach on the coast of Lake Sakakawea called “Little Egypt.”
Hello. I am Daniel Gardner. My story today sets back a few years ago in a car. I look out the window from the back seat to see a beautiful blue sky with pearly white clouds scattered across the sky like dice. The sun glows across the sky like a beacon of hope. It reflects off of the sand as if it is beaming off of glass. The luscious variety of green grass with the bountiful palm trees sway softly with the breeze. The light turns green and we start to fly past it all as if time speeds up. we pull into the driveway to see not a beach house. But a mansion. We walk in and see the decor of the house as if angels have come through and done it themselves. We were finally on vacation.
Everything started a few years ago. It was a warm and beautiful night in Africa; the dark blue sky was full of stars… and those were the last things I remember before I woke up in a cold and wet floor. I do not know where I was, or why I my hands were tight behind my back.
There are many stories told throughout life some bad and some good as some could be
Thinking about my childhood, I remember many things that influenced me as a person and changed or evolved my perspective of the world, its peoples and its things. One of my most vivid memories that this essay is about, changed the way I represented myself to the world and the way I felt being exposed to it. -- Being lost or forgotten at a young age is a bone-chilling experience that all of us have to go through, at one point or another. So, here I was, at the age of three, left all alone at a carnival in Muscat, Oman.
Once we were out of the dock my dad accelerated out into the lake to find a good location to water ski. Dad asked, “Are you ready to ski?”
It is incredible to understand how the way someone was nurtured as a child could have such an effect on there adulthood. I personally believe that the events that occurred in my early childhood were stepping stones to defined me as the person I am today.
Growing up for me some would say it was rather difficult and in some ways I would agree. There have been a lot of rough times that I have been through. This has and will affect my life for the rest of my life. The leading up to adoption, adoption and after adoption are the reasons my life were difficult.
The things that shape us as individuals into who we are now, and who we want to be are all different. Everyone has unique events in their life that caused them to have make tough decisions, and decide if what happened will make them or break them. These key events are what make our own personal origin story. Now our stories may not be as exciting as Wonder Woman or other well-known super heroes; however they are what makes us who we are and who we hope to eventually become. The home I grew up in getting foreclosed, straining my hip flexor really bad and having to go through physical therapy, and the story of my first car are the three impactful events that create my origin story.
As we pulled out of my parents driveway, the circumstances seemed very surreal. My entire way of life had been turned upside down with only a few hours consideration. I was very much “at sea” in the ...
There are many things that have molded me into the person I am today such as being born into a family with four children. With three siblings, I have been forced to be able to work out problems from stealing each other’s toys to having to rush to the emergency room to get stiches because my brother chased me around the house and I tripped. My mother, father, brother, and two sisters were all born in Pennsylvania and I am the odd ball and I was born in Adrian, Michigan. From when I was a child I always loved being involved with sports because of my competitive nature. I grew up playing soccer and having success with that but then my love changed and I began playing lacrosse and football. I started playing lacrosse in middle school and played
My story starts at the beginning, in this case, my childhood. In my youth, I was a free spirit with no care in the world. I didn’t think much of what others thought about me, I just acted like myself and that is what mattered. I did not live in fear. I wasn’t afraid to pursue new experiences. I often wore all sorts of clothes because I loved to be someone who I wasn’t just for my enjoyment. Sometimes I even dressed up in girls clothing and
So, once he had permission to visit the area, he left home and took the water head first. What we found him was very nervous, and inevitably love. Among rockets and fireworks, a beautiful boat bobbed between songs and laughter. Within it, a lot of sailors celebrating the birthday of a young very beautiful.
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
