I was in my basement with my younger brother and my dad. My brother and I were bored so we started to pass a basketball back and forth. All of a sudden the ball hit my brother in the mouth. He flinched and had a look of pain on his face. I saw a tooth come out of his mouth and fly under a shelf. My dad gasped and looked at my and my brother. I was afraid my brother was going to be really mad at me. Luckily my brother doesn’t get hurt easily and he was fine, and actually happy I knocked out his tooth. I was relieved to know I didn’t hurt my brother. The only problem now was to find his tooth. My dad got a flashlight and shined it under the shelf searching for the tooth. Thankfully we found his, although it was very dusty.
Life Lesson: If you can’t pull out your tooth have your sibling throw a ball at you.
I had mixed feelings one time when my friend, Gracie’s, twin sister was depressed. Her name is Meghan and she is 15 years old. She was depressed because her mom, Cathy, and her step dad had just split up. Meghan and her step dad were really close, so their breakup was not that easy for her. She had attempted suicide a few times for this reason. I should have said something that could have prevented her from trying to attempt suicide again. I learned that a friend is worth more than a secret.
I've always liked Fall. I like the falling leaves and warm spice drinks and chilly air and nice sweaters and the generally spooky vibes. Fall is a good time for me. Nothing beats it, not even the summer. The most important part, though, is Halloween. Halloween cotumes, loads of spooky-themed candy, costume parties, scary movies, everthing about it was something I looked forward to all year.
The experience that day changed the way I look at the human body, and I started to appreciate the magnificence of it. In addition to the appreciation of the body, I wanted to know what causes so much physical pain in it. I was particularly interested in toothache because that was the most frequent and personal disease I suffered during my childhood. In addition, I met a dentist who was willing to provide a mentorship so my interested in dentistry grew tremendously.
It is amazing how many things we take for granted. We make plans for the day, and don't think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my cousin's death. I don't think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news.
For most people, becoming a parent is one of the greatest moments in their lives. I never understood the true meaning of love until I became a father. Little did I know; I would also learn the tragedy of loss.
The social forces of the world today have a tremendous impact on a person's life. Social forces can make you change the way you think, the way you act, and even your personality, especially on early teens. In some cases people don't realize it is changing them.
My brother was in our ancestral mansion. It used to be ours, our childhood playground till my parents lost our fortune. I worked hard, became rich and got it back. I knew the ins and outs of the mansion. It was mine. I was surprised he was there. He was richer than I was. He could live anywhere. Why choose that particular place?
Can you single out just one day from your past that you can honestly say changed your life forever? I know I can. It was a typical January day, with one exception; it was the day the Pope came to St. Louis. My brother and I had tickets to the youth rally, and we were both very excited. It was destined to be an awesome day- or so we thought. The glory and euphoria of the Papal visit quickly faded into a time of incredible pain and sorrow, a time from which I am still emerging.
Losing my dad, at a young age is one the event that still upset me even up to this day. The devastating thing about my lost is that, I don't have any memory of him. I know people keep telling me that I lost a father, but I really don't understand how it feels to lose someone close to me. There were days that I missed having a father, but without a memory of him made it sometimes easier to bare. Other times, it's difficult for me to think about him, because I have no memories of him and I want something to remain me of him. Losing him and living in a refuge camp for 11years, changed my worldview from having a loving God to not having a God. All those years, I thought God did not love my family. I asked myself so many questions, like way will
It turned out that I had indeed chipped one of my teeth. One of my teammates found the other part of my tooth approximately five meters from where I had landed. I stood up without no support and immediately went to go find Nikki who was still in the cafeteria waiting for the kids to finish eating. I told her in vivid details what had happened such as it being in the shape of the dragon scale off of Dragon Tales and it being one of my front teeth. She proceeded to call my mom to notify what had occurred. My mom left work to come pick me up. My mom ended up picking me up from Jordaan’s house because Jordaan and I went ahead and made the walk back to his house. Once we made it back, we put the piece of tooth that had chipped off into a bag of ice. My mom arrived about five minutes later because at the time she worked close to Jordaan’s house. She took me to the dentist so they could put my tooth back
About ten minutes later, a black truck pulled up and my dad walked into school. He talked to the nurse about what had happened. We left for the dentist. On our way there, my dad asked how it happened. I told him, “I was standing next in line to bat and the kid in front of me hit the ball and threw the bat, hitting me in the mouth.” By the time I was done telling what had happened, we were already at the dentist. I walked into the waiting room, smelling the clean smell of a densit office. I sat over in the corner watching the fish in the fish tank. There was not that many people waiting in the
I was just kicking off my shoes, happy that it was Friday! I must’ve dozed off. I just remember waking up with a million missed FaceTimes, calls, and messages from Mia. I checked the time. It was only 4:00 pm. I’d only been asleep for about an hour. What did she need? Was she okay? Why did she attempt to reach me so many times?
Do you have a sibling? I do. It all started two years ago. It was when I found out there was going to be a new addition to my family. I remember it all like it was yesterday. January 6th, 2015 was the day my parents told me they were having a baby.
I slumped in my bed and came to the realization that my teeth weren't coming out anytime soon. I sat on my ipod scrolling through instagram, as I bit into a apple. I heard a crack, and as I looked into the apple I saw my tooth encased in red. “Oh my gosh,” I screamed. My dad and sister hollered back, “is everything okay?” I could not believe what was infront of me. My second tooth had fallen out and that night and I went to bed with my enemy no longer in my mouth but under my pillow.
After a few minutes, I get called into the dentist’s room to begin my check up. A rush of nerves hit my body and I run into the restroom to give myself a brief pep talk. I finally go inside the room and sit on the dental chair. As soon as a walk in, I noticed the tray with all the dental tools covered in blue plastic. The blue plastic indicated that the tools have not been used yet. I then notice the dentist and his dental assistant sitting there with a smile on their face. The dentist and his assistants begin to make small talk with me, but I stayed quiet. Instead, my mother answers all the questions on my behalf. In that moment, I was not in the mood to talk and I was paralyzed by my nervousness. The dentist and his assistant put on their gloves and began opening the tools. They gave me a pair of sunglasses and a bib for my shirt. Then the dental chair makes a whirring sound and positions itself so it 's easy for the dentist to begin poking in my mouth with the dental tools. The whirring sound causes me to start squeezing onto the armrest to calm me down, and I remember ripping the chair’s fabric slightly. The dental assistant turns on the air compressor, which
