Vignette #6: My Basketball Life ( on paper)
I want to be a professional basketball player. I want to step on the waxy court and feel fresh like honeycrisp apples. I want to be that one player that everyone looks at during the game. I want to be like the new Elena Delle Donne. I want my name to be hung up on that wall at all of the stadiums. If I can’t make it into the WNBA, then I would like to be a coach.
I want to be like the basketball player when you make a shot you hear that swish l like the wax gym floor
But I’m me.
One day I’ll soar
Through the sky.
I’ll make the crowd go loud
Like they are at a Chance the Rapper concert.
Vignette #5: Choice #1: Family of 4 With 2 Big Feet and 2 Little Feet
My mom and I, well… we do not really have big feet. We wear the same size shoe which is a size 7. My dad and brother also have the same size shoes ad wear a size 13. My mom loves the purl white and black adidas shoes. I like the clear white and green low top adidas. When my mom and I wear our adidas shoes, it feels like we are walking on a soft cloud that you can feel. You can hear the taps of the shoes going on the ground as we are walking. My dad only wears the dark brown dressy shoes. My brother, he likes to wear these really high top shiny gold shoes that are huge like an

When I step on the court and hear the crowd cheering for me like roaring lions it cheers me up. When I am out of the game I love hearing the squeaky noise that the shoes make when you stop on the court. When you make a shot with a swish and you hear the sound of the net. When you hear you coach screaming at you to get back down the court to play defense. Basketball is such an important thing to me. When ever I am in a bad mood it makes me feel good when I start to play. When it's after the game and I go to my parents, I love when they say “good game Devyn!” It makes me feel so happy because even if we lose a game, they still cheer me up after we lose because I hate
Attention Getter: “I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a Baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her.” That timeless phrase coined by Ski-Lo in the early nineties, resonates with so many of us because all of those goals are things that people relate to being successful. And while I can’t help you with the first and the last respectively, becoming a “Basket-baller” is quite feasible, with a little hard work.
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. In fact, only 3.4% of high school players go on to play college basketball. Taking it even further, only 1.2% of college basketball players go on to get drafted in the NBA” (Winters, 2016). There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
In ten years I would like to be a basketball player when I grow up. The reason why I want to be a basketball player. Is cause it is the best thing to do to me. The average basketball player get 5 million dollars a year. Being a basketball player is really fun.
I’ve done amazing things and accomplished a lot of things most people can only dream of. I’ve brought two major teams to championships multiple times, exceeded past all the odds and doubts by everyone, even changed the entire game of basketball itself. But the one thing I will never do is forget where I started from. It’s only because where’s I come from, is why I am able to do what I do and done what I’ve done. One duty I commit to for the rest of my life is giving back to the places who have made me who I am, and to people who’ve helped me and people who have a chance to make a change or be like me.
The first thing that a basketball represents, for me, is change. Growing up I was a rebel. I never did anything I was supposed or asked to do. I made it a point to rebel against my parents, teachers, and siblings. My parents had no idea where this behavior had come from or how it could be stopped. I was often punished for this behavior that started when I was around the age of 9. My parents thought I had an evil spirit inside of me and soon lost all anticipation. Then there was hope. A basketball coach from A.B.Miller high school saw me and my family at Wal-Mart, and asked for me to be placed on this team. He knew...

Basketball seems to get into your blood. It is said by those who play, "You eat, you sleep and you play basketball." When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a professional basketball player. I couldn't count how many times I pounded that dumb ball in our driveway until it was too dark to see, then I would play for hours more by the porch light. Now I realize that was only childish insanity. Back then they didn’t even have a girls’ profession basketball league in the states. However, that didn't stop me from walking away empty handed. One thing I learned was how to prepare oneself for life. Well, at least, how to prepare oneself for a game.
Why do I want to play in the NBA? I love basketball. Basketball is in my blood. To be able to play in the NBA is one the hardest things I’ll will ever face in my life. To be able to get this job, you got to be determined and passion about it. You have to be able to wake up at five or six o’clock in the morning to go to the practices. The most important thing of all, you have to give it all one-hundred percent on the court and practice. To be able to
Ever since I was a little boy, about eight years old or so, I had an extreme passion for the sport of basketball. On weekends, I would wake up in the morning, eat a bowl of frosted flakes or cheerios, put on basketball shorts and then go in my driveway to shoot around. I would be out there for hours just shooting around or playing with some random kids that I would occasionally see walking around my neighborhood. This was satisfaction to me, but even better was playing on multiple public teams and not just playing in my driveway every day. In elementary school, I played in a recreational league, just like almost every other kid who tries out basketball when they were younger. This was fun and all but it was nothing too serious. There were never any practices, it was just one or two unorganized games per week. I never took
Usually, people go to the store and pick one themselves. In my case it went the other way around; it was the shoes that came to me. I was twelve and I’m about to go to high school that time. It was my uncle who gave it to me. He came to our house to visit us. Before he left, he handed me these odd-looking thing wrapped with duct tape. When I opened it, I was welcomed with a sweet smell of new shoes. The shoes were black, made with canvass with white rubber sole and white laces. There were nothing too fancy or special about it. But, as a two hundred pound kid, it is really hard to find a decent size of shoes to fit my feet. It would take me hours of searching at every
Basketball kept me and my friends connected we watch it and play it whenever we get the opportunity.
If a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live. (Martin Luther King Jr.) Basketball is a very common sports amongst males of all ages. With many little boys and girls having the same goal, making it into the NBA or WNBA. A Nike commerical published in 2017 argues that little boys coming from poverty ridden communities have to work a lot harder in order to achieve the goal of making it into the NBA.
“Life is like a basketball, it bounces up and down.” I love basketball. I feel affection for the taste of victory, when you win a game. However, I also find losing a worthwhile experience. I worship the feeling where you score a point. It’s slow motion at first, as you gaze at the shot you’ve made, wondering if it is going to manage. Then the taste of your salty sweat and the sound of your pounding heart are back in action. *Swoosh* the ball rapidly swirls into the hoop and falls through the net. It is so stunning, and so breath-taking. “Beautiful shot! BEAUTIFUL!” the coach would yell. Everyone would give a little cheer, and I would smile and look down. I am proud to make the shot, but not cocky about it. It’s for the team, teamwork… I would think in my head. Afterwards, I would be focusing on how to get my head completely into the game, that’s how addicting it is.
I've exceeded in the game of basketball all through high school and when i get out i will exceed more and more to become an even greater player after high school. Also after high school me and my big brother plan to move out and into an apartment together. I will be taking care of my brother making sure he's alright tending to his needs because he's disabled and he needs my
Shoes, as their dressier selves, are everything when suiting up. They are the first thing people notice upon entering a room and can make or break a dapper suit or sharp blazer combo, in one foul swoop. But looking great doesn’t have to be difficult, or extortionate.
