One thing I’m not too sure about is how I’m going to pay for most of my education. I’m hoping to at least get some money via scholarships. When the time actually comes to it, I would be okay with getting some debt or getting one or two jobs. I feel it wouldn’t be too much for me to handle. When I really set my mind to it, I know I can do
Recent research has shown that even if students work full-time they still need financial aid to pay for tuition and books (Carnevale, Smith, & Melton, 2015). Therefore, students’ will sacrifice studying and class time and still have a great deal of debt when they graduate. Unfortunately, these students do not have any other options. They are working out of necessity. For these students to be successful they would need to have career counseling from the college of university. They would also need financial resources that help students pay for college expenses from the state. Colleges and universities could also create programs to assist with finding a job after college. Low-income students are faced with the problem of working too much which can create a cycle that pushes students further into debt without the benefits of a career that they were trying to
It was the summer of 1944 a year that would change my life. The dream I was having was abruptly interrupted by the loud voice of my mom yelling “Amante wake up!” Today was the day we were moving from Venice Italy to the great city of New York. There had been many bombing throughout Italy and we decided to pack up and live the American dream. I had been waiting for this day for years I had seen pictures and heard about America’s beauty but I couldn’t wait to see it in real life. The whole Dinardo family was excited to go, including me and my little sister Angelina. Angelina was only 8 years old. We’re seven years apart. She had golden blonde hair the color of honey and freckles dotted across her face. My dad walked excitedly into my room telling me that
The American dream is one of those happily ever after that so many people thrive for, but never get. Life isn't a fairy tale, there are ups and downs, good and bad, nice and evil, but once we put it all together we get these wonderful things called memories which make our lives worth so much more. Not getting that happily ever after doesn't matter as much as enjoying every moment we have on Earth. Everyone has a destiny, something they are meant to do with their lives, and no matter how hard you try, you can't change your destiny. All we can do now is dream. Dream of a better future, of a better tomorrow, and inspire others to go after the ultimate dream, and hope they are the lucky ones that achieve it. There is a reason why it's called an American dream, but maybe, one day it will become an American
The basic element of the American Dream is the freedom of the possibility to obtain whatever you dream of. These dreams are usually of a materialistic nature; the dream to own property and to be financially secure. They also can refer to the freedom of education and expression without censorship. To achieve this dream, it is believed that you must work hard and remain modest and consistent.
The American dream is possible but only achievable to those who truly look for it and who hope and never lose faith of that dream. While some may say that the American dream is only for the American citizens that is not fully true because most people from other countries see America as a land of opportunity and determination of surpassing their parents or grandparents, a place of prosperity and most of all a safe home for their children. Ultimately, the American dream is a hope to become someone better even if it’s not for their benefit but for their family.
In my perspective, my American Dream includes freedom. I am frequently asked what I believe in and what my life goals are, and to be honest, I am not even fully sure. However, I do look forward to growing up and being able to make my own decisions on what I want to persue my life in. In the wise words of Ray E. Disney, “When your values are clear, making decisions becomes easier”(Disney, Brainy Quotes). This quote made me realize how freedom is one of my values because I always want to be allowed to make any decision I want to improve and continue my life. The fact that I am allowed to go anywhere I want to go, do anything I want to do, and also be anything I want to be, gives me the freedom of choosing the options I am given. Every decision
An “American Dream” is different for every person, and there is likely not a single dream that is the same. I imagine my dream with a husband, pets, and comfortable home in a place where the weather is nice during the seasons. To live in a home near the beach in Hawaii is my goal. I want to be able to visit the beach every now and then, and be able to walk outside in only shorts and a tee shirt and still be warm. I want to look out my window and have a beautiful view of the place that I call home. If I do not live in Hawaii, then I would undoubtedly settle for Minnesota since I have lived all my life here and would enjoy staying. For a living, I want to do something in the medical field, such as a physical therapist or an athletic trainer.
To me “The American dream” means achieving your biggest goal. And each goal is different depending on the person. Like I said my “American dream” is to be a musician, it’s what I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember. It’s not really like my family
