Personal Narrative- Making Positive Changes
I have positive attributes and weaknesses as everyone else does. However, since I came from Peru to America, I experienced many changes in my personality from a shy girl to an independent, outgoing and friendly teenager. My strongest personal attributes are generosity, my spirit of collaboration and my perseverance to achieve any goals and overcome obstacles in my life. For example, when I was in Peru I used to go to a hospital to help children with disabilities. I used to visit them very often. I played with them so that they could forget for a while about their sickness. At the time I could make them happy and they enjoyed a nice moment getting to know me. By helping them, I felt a great satisfaction with myself.
Not everyone is perfect in life. Everyone has weaknesses. One of mine is that I take everything too seriously and that makes me get irritated easily. It’s not that I’m angry all the time, it’s just I don’t joke around that much. I think I’m not very tolerant and I’m working my best to overcome it. On the other hand, peopl...
Blade Runner and New Brave World's Perspective's on Humanity Ridley Scott’s film “Blade Runner: Director’s Cut” and Aldous Huxley’s
Literature and film have always held a strange relationship with the idea of technological progress. On one hand, with the advent of the printing press and the refinements of motion picture technology that are continuing to this day, both literature and film owe a great deal of their success to the technological advancements that bring them to widespread audiences. Yet certain films and works of literature have also never shied away from portraying the dangers that a lust for such progress can bring with it. The modern output of science-fiction novels and films found its genesis in speculative ponderings on the effect such progress could hold for the every day population, and just as often as not those speculations were damning. Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein and Fritz Lang's silent film Metropolis are two such works that hold great importance in the overall canon of science-fiction in that they are both seen as the first of their kind. It is often said that Mary Shelley, with her authorship of Frankenstein, gave birth to the science-fiction novel, breathing it into life as Frankenstein does his monster, and Lang's Metropolis is certainly a candidate for the first genuine science-fiction film (though a case can be made for Georges Méliès' 1902 film Le Voyage Dans la Lune, his film was barely fifteen minutes long whereas Lang's film, with its near three-hour original length and its blending of both ideas and stunning visuals, is much closer to what we now consider a modern science-fiction film). Yet though both works are separated by the medium with which they're presented, not to mention a period of over two-hundred years between their respective releases, they present a shared warning about the dangers that man's need fo...
Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein was first published in 1818 in an increasing secular British society, after the French revolution but the beginning of Industrial Revolution and during a period of technological and scientific advancement. Over 150 years later, Ridley Scott released Blade Runner, a film set in the 2019. The influence of the Cold War, capitalism and rising consumerism and uncontrollable scientific developments in areas of cloning, came together to form a dystopian world. Despite the differing contexts, values such as man's fascination with creating life, an obsession with science and discovery and the importance of parental responsibility are present in both texts, essentially representing Mary Shelley in the 1800s and Ridley Scott in the 20thcentury. The universality of such values are how each text broke through boundaries of their time, thus leading to being viewed as valuable. Shelley and Scott’s concerns for such issues lead to not being critically acclaimed at the time.
In this essay I will discuss the way in which the generic marker ‘The visual surface of Science Fiction presents us with a confrontation between those images to which we respond as “alien” and those we know to be familiar’ can be applied to Blade Runner and to what end.
Like every other human being, I have my strengths and weaknesses. I know that I am not a perfect person, and that makes me who I am now. I continually strive to develop and grow myself as a person.

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner is now one of the top sci-fi movies and a perfect standard of the neo-noir genre. The visual Los Angeles is an astonishing sight and immense in detail. The action on an extensive proportion is truly ingenious. Ridley Scott is a substantial director in film history who doesn’t hold back in his movies. Blade Runner is a very exciting sci-fi film noir combination with a suspenseful and tense story that runs so deep in its conflict has led to cults. Overall, Blade Runner is a movie that will keep on your toes and force you to think about your humanity in an interesting yet confusing way.
This book is a compilation of several articles about the Spanish Civil War by different authors each one dealing with a different subject matter. This is useful because it gives different perspectives on the war. However, the accuracy becomes compromised as there are conflicting points of view in the book that rr(a'y cause the information to be less reliable.
Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982) presents an imminent look into the future of the 21st century. A film adapted from the novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Phillip K. Dick, Blade Runner focuses on the struggle of humanity – often accentuating the notion that humanity in the year 2019 co-exists with android-like humans (replicants). The idea conveyed behind Blade Runner becomes additive to the sizable realm of Sci-Fi films that attempt to peek into the future of humanity. With comparable scenery, films such as Star Trek and Star-Wars may seem related, but Blade Runner contains an underlying culture that causes vast separation. A deeper analysis of Blade Runner will uncover the films
(1936–39), military revolt against the Republican government of Spain, supported by conservative elements within the country. When an initial military coup failed to win control of the entire country, a bloody civil war ensued, fought with great ferocity on both sides. The Nationalists, as the rebels were called, received aid from fascist Italy and Nazi Germany. The Republicans received aid from the Soviet Union, as well as from International Brigades, composed of volunteers from Europe and the United States.
Throughout the history of the human race there have been a great number of crops that were discovered, planted, and over time domesticated. Wheat in the Middle East, rice in Asia, and rye in Eastern Europe are all some of today’s staple crops that feed millions every day. Crops like these make up over 50% of the world’s total food supply. However, the third most eaten crop in the world is maize, or corn, which provides 21% of human nutrition. Today maize feeds millions across the world, but its history is different from the others.

While going to sporting events, have you ever taken the time out to check out the surrounding area? Whether the arena is dilapidated? If the arena is worn down, in what ways besides sports revenue do they build the arena to be up to par. These are all questions that one might say correlate with the topic of Stadium Subsidies. The purpose of this report is to relay what a subsidy is and how sports in America interact with it to make it a big topic. When looking at this topic there are many things we must look at like the impacts that stadium funding has on the immediate public, if it actually benefits the public and the actual good or bad that it does.
