If I were going to be giving an in-home animal welfare audit on the following animals: large and small dog, 3 cats, 2 hamsters, and a goldfish, I would first start off my audit by examining the home and the surroundings of the animals. This would be my first and most obvious observation that would give me a great deal of insight as to if this is going to be a good or a bad audit. I would look at the condition of the floors, the walls, stairs, cabinets, doors, and the overall infrastructure. If there were scratch marks on doors, cabinets, defecation stains in the carpet, or other unordinary signs, I would begin digging deeper into things. I would also examine the outside condition of the house. I would look at what the backyard looked like, if there were outdoor cages/pens, if the grass was missing from parts of the yard that could indicate neglect from being tied outside for too long, and look to see if the outdoor area is maintained properly meaning fencing and landscape. Next I would look into each animal closer.
Lets start with the dogs. I would examine them for any malnutrition

or physical harm that might on them. I would ask the owners how often the dogs visit the vet for checkups. This question will tell me if the owner takes the initiative to ensure that the dogs are receiving yearly vaccinations and being checked up on for disease/illness. I would ask the owner how often the dogs are fed, ensuring the dogs receive adequate nutrition throughout the day. I would also ask how often the dogs are let outside for activity and if/how often they are put in their kennels/pens. Asking these questions ensures the dogs are getting access outside to relieve themselves, but also exercise. Asking about the kennels will inform me if the dogs are penned in their kennel all day, or if they are rarely in them except for rare occasions. Depending on the answer, this could indicate neglect from the owners leaving the animal in a poor welfare state. In the evening, I would look at where the dogs laid and examine if the bedding is proper, or insufficient for them. I would then examine the cats. I would also looks the cats over for a physical examination and depending on what I saw go from there. I would ask similar questions as with the dogs about vet visits and check ups. With the cats I would ask how often their claws are clipped. Failure to clip the claws can cause for overgrown claws and that is very painful to a cat. I would examine the litter box area to see if it is cleaned out. I would ask the owners how often the box is cleaned and new litter is put down. I would look for a water source that the cats and dogs most likely share and ensure that there is adequate water for all the animals to drink. I would ask the owners how often the water dish is cleaned and refilled. Improper cleaning can lead to a higher bacteria content in the water. When it comes to examine the hamsters I would start by looking at their cage.
The structure of the cage is important since they live their majority of their life. If the cage is rusted, has cracks or holes, or is falling apart them I would begin to question how well these animals are cared for. Next I would look at the bedding. If the bedding is not changed often enough, the animals can get sores or sleep in their our fecal content. I would ask the owners how often they changed the bedding. I would also ask the owners to see if the hamsters ever see the vet, or how the make sure they are healthy. The health of these pets is critical. I would ask the owners how often they bathe the hamsters, or if they do at all. People may not think animals need to be groomed, but they do just like humans do. I would ask about exercise for these hamsters. If there is a spinning wheel inside that

Animals are used today for many sources of protection, food, clothing, transportation, sports, entertainment, and labor, but millions of these animals die each year from abuse. “Most of the reasons that people give for denying animals rights are: animals do not have souls, god gave humans dominion over the animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, humans are intellectually superior to animals, animals do not reason, think, or feel pain like humans do, animals are a natural resource to used as humans see fit, and animals kill each other” (Evans). It all started in the nineteenth century, when people began abusing animals by beating them, feeding them poorly, providing them with no shelter or poor shelter, left to die if they were sick or old, or by cruel sports. Most of the organized efforts to improve human treatment of animals all started in England. Around the 1800s, there was signs of rising concern for animal welfare in the United States.
As with any animal, you have to look out for their health; ensure that they are getting enough, but not too much of, the right type of food; and that all of their needs are met. And it isn't just about basic upkeep - no, if that were the case, you needn't worry. I mean... you wouldn't be looking into keeping any sort of pet if you felt you were unable to keep up with that, right?
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Whatever the reason it’s still not right and will never be okay. This paper will cover a brief history of animal abuse, the statistics, the signs of animal abuse, and what can be done to stop animal abuse. Animal abuse needs to end for the animals that can’t speak for themselves.
The Vet needs to have the two E's i.e. training, as in capabilities and accreditations, and he likewise needs to have adequate involvement in pet consideration. Vets should be agreeable around new creatures and the other way around. Additionally, there are a few facilities that spend significant time in certain sorts of pets and are great with these specific creatures as it were. So you ought to remember this while assessing a Clinic.
One of the perks of being an Animal Control Officer is getting to care for animals. Officers will feed, water, and give animals attention. This is important because many animals have been abused and are reluctant to trust humans again. When the officer is kind to the animal, it might begin to renew its trust with people. This is crucial, as animals, who do not

Besides the fact that there are many types of Russian Dwarf Hamsters, each of them require a comparable amount of care. According to the Smithsonian website, hamsters started to become domesticated in 1930 to become test subjects by a jewish biologist. Unfortunately store bought cages do not allow for this. “It [stress] can cause serious harm to the
As a kid, I fell in love with the idea of getting a puppy for Christmas. Wrapped in a small box with a bow on top sitting under the tree just like the movies and tv shows I had seen. I can remember making a Christmas list of all the things I wanted that year, and every year the same thing that I wanted had said “puppy” with it underlined so that my mother knew which was my favorite on the list. Every year no surprise, I didn’t find a dog. I never understood why I never received one. When the kids at school talked about the few dogs they had at home made me so jealous, but I hoped that one day it would be me to have my own best friend at home.
I have a love for cats. Ever since I was a teenager I always wished for a cat of my own. When I moved in a three story apartment in California, the Manager of the complex said that cats were allowed in the units. I mentioned to my Aunt at the time that I was searching in the newspapers under advertisements for cats wanted. One cool breezy evening, my Aunt called me and said that a friend of her's named Judy had a cat named Katie who did not get along with her other two cats. So I agreed to meet with Judy to see if I'd love to adopt Katie.
Getting My First Puppy When I woke up this morning I thought it was just going to be an ordinary day. Boy was I wrong, what happened today will change my life forever… I walked groggily out of my room to the kitchen, as I do most Saturday mornings in the summer. Made myself some coffee, and dug through the cabinet looking for something to eat for breakfast. I eventually just decide on normal basic cereal. After finishing my breakfast, I find that my dad has left me and my sister a note on the counter.
When I was three years old, I spent my summer in a pond by my home chasing frogs and snakes. When I was five years old, my mother found me sleeping under a mare with her foal. When I was fifteen I spent my spare time working for a family friend’s thoroughbred farm. However, my first love for animal care was born when I was nineteen when I first held an owl. I was an extremely fortunate child to grow up in the Maine wilderness as I did, learning to marvel at the raw beauty of nature at a young age. I attended a nature themed summer camp every year throughout my youth, learning about the sciences of soil and water systems and how they impacted the animals around them. I took every opportunity to immerse myself in animals at any opportunity, from
Towards animal welfare comes the aspect of animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is a fairly recent subject that has affected society. Animal cruelty has now shown comparisons in human abused households. The concern is recent because as society changes, human attitudes change which now affects animals. Animal welfare is used to help animal cruelty, because decreasing the violence between animals and humans can help the regulations of animal welfare.
Also, when the animal´s are not in the wilderness their behavior changes. Zoos should not be kept because Zoos have way too much animal´s and all the animal´s should be in the wild living there lovely life. Also, they need to keep track of the animal´s activity. The workers harm the animal´s when they do something what they do in the wild.
