Looking back at the first day of school it was nervous enough to meet the teacher, then starting to writing the first day was even more nerve racking. Thinking I will do poorly or do silly mistakes like in high school. Getting back my paper back and seeing that I had some work to do to improve my writing skills was embarrassing because I should have known how to do so already. I had to really focus and hope that I can improve more in my writing skills this first semester of English class. To be ready for English 102 next semester and know what i'm writing and wright it good to pass the class. In this term my writing skills have improved quick a bit because now I know how to manage my time, actually have someone else look over my paper, and how to write different types of intros and conclusions.
To start of, having your time managed when doing an essay is really important because you know what to write about and where it goes so it will not take you for ever to have it done. What I have learned is to always do a prewriting strategy and get all your ideas organized so when you write your essay you just have to add some details here and there to make it stronger. By doing the prewriting strategies I have time to revise it to see if I missed a word, punctuations, or a letter that needs to be capitalized. Knowing that you have enough time to write down

For me this was one of my weakness, because I would not like other people to see my flaws in writing. Thinking what if they will think less of me because of my writing skills. I had to stop thinking like that and realize that this is going to happen again next semester of English 102, so I gave my paper to some friends I trust and they gave me feedback and helped correct my stuff. There I saw where I would do a lot of mistakes and try to change them when I would write a new essay. When I reread my revised essay they sound better and things are in the right
Entering this course I was worried because I have struggled with writing in the past, and writing has never been my strongest area. I feared writing classes in middle and high school, and had the same expectations for this course. I had wondered if I was ready for college English, and was worried that my skills and abilities would not be one the level they needed to be for college courses. My attitude and understanding of my writing process have both changed since the beginning of this semester. One thing that really helped my attitude and confidence was the fact that I was able to complete the assignments and get a decent grade. I was worried that I might not be able to do college level writing, and when I started completing the assignments and learning new ways to write my confidence and attitude changed. Another thing that really helped me throughout this course was that there was plenty of reading and information available to guide me through my assignments. I realized that there was more freedom when it comes to writing than I had experienced in high school. Being able to write more freely, and the freedom to choose what subjects I would write over made the assignments more enjoyable and easier to
My relationship with writing has been much like roller coaster. Some experiences I had no control over. Other experiences were more influential. Ultimately it wasn’t until I started reading not because I had to read but because I wanted to, that's when my relationship reached change. I would have probably never cared about writing as I do today if it weren't for the critics in my family. When I was a child, my aunts and uncles always been in competition with who's child is better in school. I have always hated reading and writing because of the pressure to prove my family wrong was overwhelming for me. I had to prove them wrong and show them that I was capable of being "smart" which according to them was getting straight A's in all your classes.
Weak skills that I began the class with have become strong and my strong skills have become stronger. Having the opportunity to write a variety of different essay styles has challenged me greatly to improve my writing techniques. Each essay I was required to write brought its own struggles for me. I had to draw on the information that was presented through the class as well as look to the textbook for guidance. To ensure I did well on each essay I thought about my topic, researched the topic, then began to outline what I wanted to write about. Finally, I would write the essay and submit a rough draft. English 102 has given me the skills and training I need to move on to other classes next semester that will require writing essays. I now have a confidence in my writing abilities that this class has given
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
A couple of weeks ago, the class was assigned a personal narrative essay and the prompt was to tell an interesting story of a specific experience that changed how you acted, thought, or felt. To be honest, I was awfully excited to write this essay because talking about myself is the easiest thing to write about sometimes. However, deciding what experience to talk about was challenging because I have already experienced so much in my seventeen years of being alive from dislocating my hip when I was three, to seeing my grandfather die in front of my eyes, from almost tripping off of the trail on the Grand Canyon, to meeting band members at an airport. Writing this essay brought me many challenges, I did not know what topic to choose, I had no
Personal narratives allow you to share your life with others and vicariously experience the things that happen around you. Your job as a writer is to put the reader in the midst of the action letting him or her live through an experience. Although a great deal of writing has a thesis, stories are different. A good story creates a dramatic effect, makes us laugh, gives us pleasurable fright, and/or gets us on the edge of our seats. A story has done its job if we can say, "Yes, that captures what living with my father feels like," or "Yes, that’s what being cut from the football team felt like."
Essay is a piece of art that everybody can create. Every rule given here is not important than genuine experiences. No template. No pattern. Writing an essay needs just attempts to pass the ideas from our brain to readers’ minds. Writing an essay helps us develop our ideas. Essays contain everything of humankind. Essays never died from this world.
The writing skills I focused on for each paper were lessening my grammatical errors and working on having better vocabulary as well. I thought I was really good at writing papers until I got to this class and realized I can't half ass anything and I need to take the time into my work. I have always struggled with spelling and commas but I have become much better after first semester. The papers I worked the hardest on in first semester was my Research Paper, and my Profile Essay because I actually took my time on it and had to do extra work than just think of something to write about and type it. I got to interview someone, and do research that will make my paper
As a student, I feel that I have many writing weaknesses. I know that on my own, and because teachers have told me so. Some of the complications I face with writing is not using enough body paragraphs, forgetting a thesis statement, lack of word choice, punctuation errors, and etc. I am unaware at times of my mistakes, but I always try to correct them.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
My nerves were getting out of hand when the first day of actual classes came. All my classes were not too long and

Before taking English 1A, I was a discouraged writer because as an English learner, I did not believe that I had any ability to be an acceptable writer. Therefore, I did not have any joy while I was doing writing assignments. However, I have gradually loved writing through this semester. I fortunately got plenty of helps from my classmates and professor; thus, my writing skills have gotten improved a lot. I currently can feel that writing is a quite enjoyable process, and I like delivering my ideas to other people by writing, too. I am really proud that I have enhanced my pre-writing skills, writing structure and revising skills and have learned how to write an effective thesis statement and how to deal with rhetorical analysis. However, I still have lots of deficiencies in my articles, such as grammar problem and the lack of logical transition.
Tormenting yourself on what to write. Looking at a blank document doesn’t make it any easier. Repeating the same thing over and over in your head about how bad you are at this, scratching your head, biting your nails because at this point you start to wonder if going to college is really worth it. And as you start to finally write random thoughts, it suddenly becomes a bit less complicated. I have discovered that as long as you start to write anything and stop being so critical about your writing, believing that something good will come out of your essay, sometimes
