As a child, I never could have imagined that this one person would change my life so much in just seventeen short years. Everyone has a hero or someone they look up to, my grandmother just so happens to be that person. Since the day I was born she has lived with me and my family, which qualifies her to be much more than an average grandma. She took care of me when my parents were unable to, taught me new things, and shaped me into the person I am today. The year was 1998 when I was born and a lot changed within my household. My family expanded quickly that year, for five years it had just been my parents and brother living together; but now, me and grandma became a huge part of the family. About four years after I was born my dad had received …show more content…
My grandma is all about giving back to others, even if she does not have enough money to do it, she will find a way to help someone that needs it. Likewise, I get that from her because no matter what a friend or family member needs I ensure they know I will always be there if they need me. Now, when it comes to humor and sarcasm we are the same exact person, it is almost scary how that worked out. She can say something around my parents or brother that they do not really understand or laugh at; but, then she will say the same thing to me and I will laugh for minutes about it or joke back with her. The last thing that I know comes from her and nobody else is how trustworthy we are with each other. Some things I don’t want everyone to know, so I can count on her to not tell anyone else, and that is portrayed so much in my life as well. If a friend tells me something that I know they are serious about others not knowing, their secret is safe with me. The relationship we have with each other is something I will forever cherish and be thankful for. Not many people can say that a sixty-four-year-old can impact a life so much, but that is exactly what she has done for
My relationship with my grandmother paved the way of my education, my faith, my success. Her understanding and unconditional love, as well as, faith in me along with my past experiences, helped shape my character today. Grandma beat me in Monopoly every time--her iron got all the good properties. She taught me how to cross stitch. She let my sister and I have a fashion show using all of her clothes and accessories.
My grandmother was a strong woman. No matter how strained my families’ relationship could be at times, I loved her unconditionally. She was the woman who would buy me gallons of ice cream and soda frustrating my mother to no end. Whenever I spent the night she would let me stay up as late as I wanted watching TV. Crossing the street to my grandparents’ house was a daily event, which I looked forward to every morning I woke up.
It was a Monday night; I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just completed my review of Office Administration in preparation for my final exams. As part of my leisure time, I decided to watch my favorite reality television show, “I love New York,” when the telephone rang. I immediately felt my stomach dropped. The feeling was similar to watching a horror movie reaching its climax. The intensity was swirling in my stomach as if it were the home for the butterflies. My hands began to sweat and I got very nervous. I could not figure out for the life of me why these feelings came around. I lay there on the couch, confused and still, while the rings continued. My dearest mother decided to answer this eerie phone call. As she picked up, I sat straight up. I muted the television in hopes of hearing what the conversation. At approximately three minutes later, the telephone fell from my mother’s hands with her faced drowned in the waves of water coming from her eyes. She cried “Why?” My Grandmother had just died.
As children grow up they always look up to someone special in their life, someone that they can trust and is always there for them. This person is someone they admire and hope to be like someday. The person that I’ve described best fits my Grandma. She knows all the right things and is there whenever I need her. My grandma is one of the most important people in my life and I’m so happy that I have her.
I am honored and lucky that Grandma Stella is a part of my life. She inspires me to achieve great things. I am who I am because of her.
What does phenomenal mean to you? One dictionary states phenomenal means very remarkable. My great grandmother was a very sophisticated and remarkable woman. Phenomenal should have been her first name, because that she was. My great grandmother was a rare breed; many do not come like that anymore. This lady is the most wonderful person I 've ever met. She is old, affectionate, and intelligent. It took me eighteen years to realize how much this extraordinary person influenced my life. My great grandmother, Mama, cared for all her children including her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren all the same. She allowed anyone to stay in her home when needed and loaned money even when she did not have the funds to support herself. Even as a young child my great great grandmother was older but held a great part in raising me. I never received any form of structured learning such as daycare or pre-kindergarten because I loved being in her company and did not want to separate from her.
Her name was Jan Johnson to others, but to me she was known as Grandma. People were always talking about how hard she fought for everything. She was known as a fighter, but not the kind of fighter that you’re thinking of. My grandma fought every day for her life because of medical issues that she had. Sadly in February of 2014 she lost the fight. Those 16 short years that my grandma was in my life she taught me so many life lessons. She was an inspiration to so many people. Everyone loved her kind heart, her sweet smile, and her passion to do for others. The impact she left in my heart inspires me to be the person that I am today. My Grandma helped make me into the giving, friendly, stubborn, determined, and strong person that I have become.
She could explain anything to me and I would understand straight away. She helped a lot for my education and always was there to help. My parents knew that she could teach me and show how hard it is these days and how hard I should work. That is why they always made sure I saw her enough but it never was for me.
My mom after her first relationship with Carlos’ father, she wasn’t very easy to get. But after months of trying my mother gave my father a chance, and things got extremely busy. My parents has three kids with Carlos that makes four of us altogether. Carlos, Jose, Gabriela, and yours truly Manuel. Before I was born my parents moved into various apartments back and forth, but they couldn’t find the right place to call home. Until one day after my sister’s baptism, my father surprised my family and everyone else with a brand new home that he had under his name. A year and half past by and on May 22, 1997 I was born and I was known to be the best baby
My aunt is not the most stable person. She's a drug addict on some days, others an alcoholic, and in special cases both at the same time. She's tried to get better before, and in some cases has even quit both, but in the end she always goes back to visit her old demons. I sort of wished my mom and i learned this a long time ago.
It was on a Friday morning at 4:30 A.M. that happiness and joy filled the hearts of both my parents. I was born on November 29, 1996 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Florida. My parents had five children, and among the five children that they had, I was the third (or middle) child from them. It started off as two boys, then I came along as the first girl, after it was another boy, then finally, another baby girl; so total was three boys and two girls. The way that my parents lived and treated each other was the same as if any other married couple that loved each other so much. They’ve gone through a lot to get to where they are now today, but they made it and along the way had us five children. They have been really strong with each other which made them only have the five of us and no other step children. My mom is a great cook and enjoy cooking for us; this is probably where my passion for culinary comes from. My dad is an amazing tailor, he is very good at making our clothes, and my passion for fashion probably came from him. My dad is also a teacher, one of the best math teacher I know, he is passionate about his job and his family is the center of his universe. I cannot finish this chapter without mentioning my grandmother, I was lucky enough to have ever met. I had spent part of my life time with her, like the rest of the family she is sweet, my grandmother Abelus,
My grandmother has always been my biggest supporter throughout my life. My Grandmother is my back bone; she is the reason why I am the person that I am today. Most people hear the word grandmother and expect to see older lady with possible white hair, standing in the kitchen cooking and baking, evening sewing. My grandmother is the exact opposite of those things, she is still employed full time, enjoys making jewelry and furniture. Although she is only five two she is very witted and outspoken she never bites her tongue and will always give her opinion even if you don’t ask for it. There is a softer side to her, she will give you her last and be a listening ear day or night. Like the saying goes “to know me is to love me” and believe me
