Cohen Bloemers Mrs Wiese Comp-brit-lit 16 September 2024 Growing up I thought of the world of football. I loved watching Aaron Rodgers as a little kid, visualizing myself throwing just like him and seeing my favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Football was instilled in me as a young child. I was never, though, given the chance to play as a young kid. My mom was scared at the idea of me playing and never allowed me to even go to recess back at Newton Elementary School. But in the 8th grade, my dream of playing came true and introduced me to a whole new perspective. In 8th grade, I started a fresh new journey at a school familiar but yet not known. My cousin is the principal at Unity, so back in 8th grade I took a visit to the school to see how I would feel as well as how I would enjoy it. I played basketball with a few of the kids from the school, which helped me feel somewhat comfortable with some of the kids. The school itself, though, lacked the feeling of comfort and home. As I've walked through life I try to make sure wherever I am lead I remember to ask myself does this feel like home. I say that, meaning the comfort feeling someone gets when home. When we are home, we feel like we can be ourselves, feel free, and be who we want without a face. When I visited the school, it did not give me any feeling of home. This led to me visiting MOC. Those at MOC kids were familiar with me, teachers knew me, even the Janitor knew me (he was my old neighbor). Everything felt right at MOC, even with the fear of going back to school. My choice was made, I was going to be a Dutchman. I joined the school in the middle of October. This was right after middle school football.
