A community is a place that you live in and feel safe. You feel like you can trust anyone and the police are well trained so they will come as fast as they can when you need them. A place where you feel that everyone shares common attitudes and goals. I’m not quite sure I grew up in the place I just described. Growing up my brother and I were never allowed to ride our bikes outside our apartment because cars on the street we live in would speed by as if the street was the freeway. I would also always hear about robberies, until one day I actually witnessed one. My father was saving up for a new car radio, after saving money for about six months he finally bought it. It took six months to buy but just one week for someone to steal. The fact …show more content…
It has pushed me to strive for success and nothing else so that someday when I have kids of my own, they grow up in a safe environment. A place where I’m not terrified of them going to the place where they get their education. And where they are free to play outside. Growing up in my community I have also witnessed many people facing addictions. Families trying to remain united while facing economic problems. All this has motivated me to become a psychologist. That way in the future I can help people living in any community. I have always loved observing and helping people. Therefore I want to help people with their problems through my career. I also want to become economically stable; to not end up like some people in my community that feel the need to steal. In a sense I thank my community for bringing out the best of …show more content…
I’ve had the chance to witness what happens to people who chose the wrong path. I’ve also seen this with my own family, having the opportunity to compare the lives of my successful family members and those who aren’t as successful. I have family members who struggle economically in their daily lives. Family members who have ended up in jail because of some wrong decisions they made. Although I also have those family members who have a career they’re passionate about and enjoy doing it daily, also those who own a house and have a beautiful family. All this has determined me to become successful because some day I want to be a psychologist who enjoys helping people every day. I want to have a family of my own and be able to support them with everything I can. I always see how my dad stresses out with his job and how my mom has to stretch money around. I chose to overcome the obstacles now and have an easier life in the
Community is defined as a group a people living in an area under the same conditions. Realistically, a community is so much more than this definition. It is people and their different beliefs that form a community. In the town of Milagro, Amarante Cordova, Ruby Archuleta, and a town coming together to rescue a fellow community member from jail exemplify the true spirit of what community is.
A community is the feeling of togetherness felt in a setting with a group of people who share similar characteristics. Living in Scott Hall my freshman year of college, shaped my view of community quickly. Going to organized events, socializing in common areas and interacting with my Resident Advisors gave me an ideal
Because of some of the circumstances that make me who I am, it is hard to say I have any one definitive home. Instead, I have had two true homes, ever since I was a young child. What makes this even more of a conundrum is that my homes have always had little in common, even though they are only a few hundred miles apart. Between the big city of Houston, Texas, and the small town of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, I have grown up in two very different towns that relate to one another only in the sense that they have both raised me.
A community: otherwise a group of people who share common culture and heritage a populace, an alliance, an association, a neighborhood, a district, a society. A dictionary definition is what the population settles for as far as the context where they consider themselves as apart of a community. The word community in the 14th century, had derived from the word “common,” in that time, meaning fellowship in a ‘community’ of relations or feelings. However, the term then became used concretely as to pertain to a body of fellows or townsmen. It is vital though, that the youth involves themselves genuinely in a community, and not assume that they’ve done so simply by physically moving into one. Such a task means a challenge, however, through awareness and inspiration, the benefits of being apart of a community are within reach.
My community is Alpena MI, it's on lake huron usually it's very cold. I am going to make my community Alpena beloved by creating a new yearly tradition. That tradition will be a winter bonfire at a Bayview park. This new tradition will unite the community through food, sharing, and togetherness.
A community is established when more than two people share the same values and through time this personal connection evolves into a fellowship governed by rituals, traditions, and a particular form of communication that when taken together makes a group of individuals whether living in a specific geographical area or connected by ideals so distinct that their distinguishing marks allow them to stand out from among the crowd. They do not just believe in something like an organization but they need each other to survive and thrive. A good example is the Old Order Amish Mennonite community wherein the community serves as source of identity, strength and provides the reason why they should sustain the community’s way of life.

Growing up for me some would say it was rather difficult and in some ways I would agree. There have been a lot of rough times that I have been through. This has and will affect my life for the rest of my life. The leading up to adoption, adoption and after adoption are the reasons my life were difficult.
A community is comprised of a group of goal oriented individuals with similar beliefs and expectations. Currently the term is used interchangeably with society, the town one lives in and even religion. A less shallow interpretation suggests that community embodies a lifestyle unique to its members. Similarities within the group establish bonds along with ideals, values, and strength in numbers unknown to an individual. Ideals and values ultimately impose the culture that the constituents abide by. By becoming part of a community, socialization...
As an African American woman, I have lived and worked in underserved communities and have experienced personally, the social and economic injustices grieved by underserved communities and the working poor. All of which, has increased my desires to work with such populations. A reserved person by nature, I have exposed an inner voice that I was oblivious to. I have expressed my inner voice to those living in underserved communities, who are seeking social and economic stability. I have come to classify and value the strength I have developed by the need, to survive in an underserved community. I use these as my continuous struggle against the social and economic injustices that I have experienced, as a product of an underserved community and as an African American woman. I have continued my struggle to overcome the barriers from my upbringing in an underserved community.
The story of my life would simply be titled "determination". Throughout my life I have always been determined to get what I want. I was never a child that asked mom and dad for something and got it, I worked for it. From a young age my mother made me do chores around the house in order to go outside and play with my friends. As I got older, nothing go easier, chores turned into jobs, and my income turned into my alliance. However, one thing that I did realize is that working without passion is not very enjoyable. I began working at a Restaurant as a host, which is not the most glamorous job out there. Fortunately, the Restaurant I worked at was looking for a new local marketing team. Once I heard what the job entailed I jumped on the opportunity;
How would someone define the word community? A community could be anything. If one were to listen to an everyday conservation, the word community, would probably be used very little. The word community has multiple meanings, ranging from communist or socialistic society (Emerson) to the quality of appertaining to or being held by all in common (Oxford).
A Community can be defined as a group of people who don’t just live in the same area, but also share the same interests, experiences and often concerns about the area in which they live. Often when individuals have lived on a street or in an area for a while they become familiar with each other and the issues surrounding them. Children often attend the same schools and grow up together, again sharing similar experiences. In some instances adults may work together, and quite commonly all community members will share the same doctors, dentists, hospitals, health visitors and other public services and facilities.
Everyone has their own perception of an ideal community. For each person the factors of an ideal community will vary depending on their upbringing. My understanding of a community is a place where a group of people live, and socialize. Everyone is caring, thoughtful, and respectful. In my community people take care of each other they think before they act, and are respectful to one another keeping in mind equality.
Like everyone else, family and friends have played a vital part in my life and have affected my outlook on money and career. I grew up in a family of six, with my father, who is an IT engineer, as the head and sole breadwinner of the family because in my country -Saudi Arabia- there aren’t many opportunities for women to advance. Although he made sure that we lived a pretty comfortable life, I would often see him foregoing his needs and wants to fulfil those of his family. So, I wondered about how different our lives could have been if my mom (or me as the oldest child) were working along with him. I believe that a person
