A new beginning It 's 6am and I hear my mother calling me, "if you don 't get up and do your chores you won 't go to school". This was a constant reminder of what our responsibilities were if we wanted to go to Elementary School. For my brothers and I, it was scary to think that we wouldn 't be able to attend school, because there were not many options for us besides working in the farm with our father. Attending school was in itself a job, we had to get up early in the morning and do several chores just to be allowed to go and if we didn 't take care of our responsabilaties our parents would sign us out of school and expect us to go work. It didn 't matter what age we were, everyone was needed to do something around the farm. Getting to …show more content…
Where teachers teaching methods were kind of silly, making us copy whatever they wrote on the chalkboard and rewrite it over and over. Our homework was pretty much the same deal, after all it was only elementary school. Lunch at our school was an adventure, there was a river behind our school so we would go out there and look for fruit trees. We would eat mangos or whatever fruit we could find and some boys will even go swimming. So arriving to a place that had everything that I needed at my fingertips and lunch served in an air conditioned room; not understanding anyone or anything made it a very terrifying experience in many …show more content…
I consider myself a career student, I never have enough, if I am not taking college courses I am studying real estate, evictions, bankruptcy, child custody, divorce, accounting, property management, etc. My passion is knowing and learning about different things in life, until this day people make fun of me, always asking when will I be done with my degree or why don’t I have a certain type of job. I always reply with a smile, saying, I am the jack-of-all-trades. I have been a successful entrepreneur for 15 years in real estate sales, investments, loans, and property manager I don’t think I need a degree to do what I enjoyed doing I just need the knowledge and determination, I enjoyed learning and someday not far I will have a degree not because I need a better job or to prove to anyone that I am worth it, but to prove to myself that I did what I was sent out to do. I lost both of my parents already, so I won’t even have the satisfaction of showing them that I did what I was sent out to do. They wanted their daughters to do better than staying in a small city raising kids and working in the fields. I feel that I have accomplished everything that they wanted for me. I am a self-employed business owner that until this day, ( not out of need, but out of pure love for learning) studies hard and enjoys everything that life throws at me. After all,
I do appreciate the fact I am earning my education, but I also take it seriously and put forth an effort to pass my classes. I also chose a major that went with my background and I could expand on with technology in future degrees. I set a short time and longtime goal for myself to accomplish, and I constantly update my productive social media reputation builder/new age resume as often as I can with credited information about my experience with
My middle school years were fabulous. I had great memories of that time. I remembered that during that time my father continued with his education. He went back to school to become a teacher. He pursued his dream to have better opportunities in life and he started working as a teacher, but unfortunately the department of education sent him far away from home to work. I remembered that he left on Mondays and then came back home Fridays. My mother recalled that at that time she continued working in the farm because the money that they paid my father as a teacher was not enough to sustain our family. My mother is a woman who grew up working since she was a child. She always told me that her father dropped her from school when she was around nine years old because he wanted her to help him
I was in fourth grade when my mother switched me into a different school. I had no idea that I was moving until I
Noted authors, Brandon Chambers, is quoted saying, “If you are going to fear anything fear success. Think about what you are doing and when you succeed what life you will have.” There are several different reasons why I could stay home, work and not go to college; I could go to work every day and make more money for the house, it’s easier, and I would be less stressed. Now, on the other hand there are many reasons why I should go to school; such as further my education, make my family proud, and make myself proud. I am attending college for several different reasons. One reason is to further my education. I hate feeling like I don’t know something, I like being the person everyone comes to for information. Also, because I want to be better prepared for my major, I want to be better then the next person with the job credentials. I want to major in Social Work and Criminology. I dream to be a counselor or an clinical service social worker. I want to help people who need someone there for them someone who can guide them or even just talk too. Another reason is because I would be the first in I would be the first in my family to go to college. I feel in some type of way I am setting an example for my parents and my brother that they too can go back to school. Lastly is simply because I love school. I love knowing more and more each day. College is not for everyone, but I will be successful by grasping the benefits, preparing for the problems, taking heed from experts, and working on strategies to be successful.
Do you think your kids should have to do chores or just be kids and have fun. Some parents are are feeling pressured making their kids do chores. As kids grow up they should know how to do more chores. Most kids gain skills from doing chores. Should your kids have chores or not think about it.
Should kids get paid to do for chores around the house? No! This essay is why they shouldn't. People say that it helps children learn responsibility, how to deal with money, also how to save money. Don't you think it would give a children more responsibility if they learn how to make money on their own and it isn't just given to them for simple things?
When the end of my 5th grade year had hit; A land mark of the most traumatizing event of my life was about to take place. My mom had left my father and took us along with her. Over the summer and a few addit...
When I was a young child I suffered from dyslexia. During my first few years of elementary school reading and writing seemed unattainable. I would write letters and numbers backwards especially s, 3, and e. I couldn’t even spell my whole name correctly and to this day I still don’t know my right hand from my left hand unless I am holding my pencil. In first grade when we broke into smaller groups for reading based on our reading level I felt so devastated and degraded to be put in the lowest level group, I recall the short books we read were half actual words and half pictures so if it said “the cat” for example it would have the word the and a tiny picture of a cat. I felt extremely envious to see so many kids my age who were light years beyond me with reading and writing. Despite my struggles I kept reading, I so desperately desired to read a book by myself without help. As I continued to read with the help of my teachers and my grandparents. I slowly continued to improve, and was able to read increasingly difficult books.
The end of elementary school was definitely when the awkward phase began. I seemed to be abnormally taller than all of my friends and pretty much my entire class. At this point I had lost all of my baby teeth, and I was left with some terribly crooked bunny teeth. During sixth grade, I ended up getting braces in the spring o and having them for nearly three years. Needless to say it was a rough time. During this time, I was also getting well acquainted with the idea of glasses. I started off my only needing them during school, but by the end of sixth grade I was wearing them all the time.
Children need to learn responsibility at an early age. It is something that can be taught to them by implementing small changes into their routine. These changes will help instill pride and the idea of accomplishment. Once present, they will want to continue this positive feedback, which in turn will teach them responsibility. Chores teach children responsibility.
Throughout history hundreds of websites say it is good for kids if they do chores. Recent websites have released information saying it is not good for children to do chores. According to the article "Should Busy, Stressed-out Kids Have to Do Chores?" by Lisa A, Flam, kids who are stressed and busy do not need chores for it well make them even more stressed and busy. In the article there are claims that say kids today have so much activities and work to do for school and a chore could cause stress with the work. So parents should not make there kids do chores so they won't be stressed and will have more freetime.
Many years ago I remember my parents telling me that in order for me to become successful a college education was a must. They always told me that if I wasn’t in school I could no longer live at home. Both of my parents attended college but neither of them finished. They did not want me to go down that same road because they really regret not getting their degrees.
Sixth grade was not a great year for me. I had severe social anxiety, depression, and insomnia. The social anxiety never seemed to fade. Due to my social anxiety, I missed a lot of school. I missed out on a lot of things, weather it was a birthday party, a holiday, or even just hanging out with friends. At the time, we didn’t know what was wrong. We didn’t know why I always got sick twenty minutes before school began, or why the very thought of human interaction made me sick. So, my parents decided to bring me to the hospital. I was terrified to go into the large, white building. I had it engraved in my young mind that it was going to be the worse experience of my life, it terrified me.
My mother took me to school on my first day. Mother had been telling me for weeks prior to the big day how wonderful school was going to be, so I was dutifully excited. She failed to mention that she was going to leave me with seventeen little strangers and one large lady. The large lady seemed to think that she was in control. I later learned that she was the teacher. She was trying to explain to Mother that I was not eligible to attend first grade because I would not be six until November of the following year. My mother was having none of that. She wanted me out of the house and into school and she did not care what the rules were.
The significance of chores in the household is important in building the character of our youth. When children participate in the chores of the house they can learn more than how to wash a plate or how to separate the recycling; children can learn to be independent and responsible and develop a proper work ethic that can benefit them throughout their lives. Physical activity is another benefit that children can receive by participating in chores; physical activity can reduce the risk of mental and physical disease. Children who do not do chores may also be independent, responsible, be appreciative of hard work, and have a reduced risk of mental and physical illnesses, but children who do participate in chores are more likely to experience
