Ruben Martinez was fascinated with the tragedy of three brothers who were killed when the truck carrying them and 23 other undocumented migrants across the Mexico – United States border turned over in a high-speed chase with the U.S. Border Patrol. “Crossing Over: A Mexican Family on the Migrant Trail” is a story about crossing and life in the United States.
Enrique decides to set out on a journey to reunite with his mother in the US. It takes eight attempts over four months to finally reach her. The first seven times he is robbed, beaten, and deported again and again, yet never gives up. Like most migrants, much of Enrique's journey is atop a freight train, but there are many dangers between Honduras and the US. If migrants aren’t killed by the trains themselves, they must worry about the gangsters, bandits, and robbers beating, robbing, raping, and even killing migrants. Just as dangerous are the corrupt police called la migra that do whatever they want to immigrants before deporting them. On the bright side Enrique meets a variety of people on his journey, many attempting the same voyage he is. They share their stories and advice about where to go and where to avoid.
Politics create a perception that illegal immigrants are all horrid human beings and deserve to be deported back to Mexico. There are a number of Mexicans who look to cross the border to the United States because they are in trouble and they must do whatever they can in order to survive. Regardless of this, citizens of the United States immediately ask for the heads of illegal immigrants and jump to conclusions that these people are crude and selfish although they are just trying to support their families. Luis Alberto Urrea tackles this problem regarding Mexicans attempting to cross the border in his book, The Devil 's Highway: A True Story. Urrea retells the story of the Yuma 14, also known as the Welton 26, and their attempt to cross the
To be called a walker you need to come from a place where you work all day but don’t make enough ends meat. Urrea explains the small towns and villages where all the poor Mexican citizens yearn for bigger dreams and a better lifestyle. He talks about the individual subjects and circumstances that bring the walkers to decide to cross the border and risk death. Urrea tells the stories of the fourteen victims and giving brief sketches of each individual lives in Mexico. The men were mostly workers on coffee plantations or farmers. They were all leaving their families who consisted of new brides, a wife and several children or a girlfriend they hoped to marry someday. They all had mainly the same aims about going to the U.S, like raising enough money to buy furniture or to build a house, or, in one case, to put a new roof on a mother's house. All of these men really craved a better life and saw the chance for that in the U.S. Being that these men are so hung...

It ends pretty happy actually. This was about immigration laws and the rights immigrants should have. Enrique and his family get to stay in the united states and Lourdes even gets to see Belky again. Now I'm not sure this counts because this is actually a true story but I think that it is trying to be a hopeful tone towards an issue. Ether that or it's just the way the story ended.
A symbol of a pillow represents Mr. Rios due to his tendency to dream. For instance, his fantasies of a “perfect life” (such as Lexi attending Stanford) must be fulfilled. If those plans deteriorates, he postulates an uncomplicated solution, such as when he tells Lexi that “‘...we’re going to fix this Stanford mess,’” (Omololu 164). Although rejection from college cannot be reversed, Mr. Rios retreads the situation in his “dreams.” Therefore, when Mr. Rios plans Lexi’s life, he dispenses the image of a
There once was a man named Franswah, and he had a wife named Keisha. They both lived in Keithville, Atlanta. They had a little girl named Jasmine, she was twelve years of age and she attended Ghettoville Jr. High School in the seventh grade. Keisha never did like doing anything, so her husband Franswah decided to go out and have an affair with a lady named Shay. Franswah and Shay worked at a law firm together. Shay was his assistant, she always helped him with things and they always went to lunch together. So some nights he never came home or either he came in late. Keisha was never the type of person to just argue, she mainly just questioned him to see what the response would be and she left it alone until the next morning. So one night when he came in he had a funny odor and Keisha asked him what was up with the smell, he told her that he had been working out and got sweaty. Their daughter Jasmine had very high blood pressure, so most of the time she didn’t go to school because of her condition and she stayed ill. Keisha had a younger sister named Ashley, she is the rowdy type that doesn’t care and will tell anybody anything. Keisha was telling her sister about Franswah coming in late, having a odor on him and don’t want to be questioned. So one day when Ashley was over there and he walked in she confronted him and told him if she find out that’s its that he’s cheating on her she was gone handle it. So he got mad and started hollering at Keisha for telling her sister about what was going on in their relationship. Then that’s when Ashley came back and told him that she can tell her anything she want to tell her because that’s her sister. So few minutes later the phone rings and its was Shay. Keisha answers the phone and it was another lady’s voice, and she asked to speak to Franswah. So she asked her who is calling and she told her that it was Franswah’s baby mother. Everyone is in shock, so Ashley gets on the phone and started getting rowdy. Ashley was asking her different questions like how old is the baby, where she live, and where did Franswah and her meet.
As a result, they decided to risk their lives and try once again, but before trying to cross the border, first they had to find a guide person that new the route to cross the border. As soon as, four hours passed by, they finally found the guide person that would help them cross the border. With this in mind, around 6:00 p.m. they started to walk once again, but this time it wasn’t any strange mountain, it was a rainforest that made it inevitable to see, which made this horrible trip of escapation for a better life, seem an impossible to cross the border. Hours went by of walking and nothing seem to change throughout the trees surrounding them, but as they continued walking the guiding person told them and the other illegal immigrants, “Es mejor que no esperemos hasta las diez de la noche para que la inmigración tendrá menos posibilidades de capturarlos(It’s best if we wait until 10 p.m. when it it super dark so the immigration would have a less chance to capture us).” An hour later, the guide person decided to start to walk in a river, but first they had to to take off their socks and just have their shoes on. Some time later, after they crossed the river, they waited until it got darker. As soon as it got dark, the
Dr. D is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He was my hero. He may well still be, even though he is a throw-back to the days when I was more concerned about science than symbolism.

Then the fox asks the goat if he wanted to go for a walk to the hill where the fox made the plan, and the goat said “ yes “. So the goat and the fox went on a walk to the hill. The fox said that we will walk for an hour, and the goat agreed. The next part of the fox’s was to take the goat to the hill where he made his plan. Because he set a trap there that he will make the goat go on. Before the fox and the goat went on the hill the fox said “ wait I need to check something on the hill. Then right away the goat knew that it was a trap. After the fox went up to the top of the hill. Before he got back down the goat took an other way up the, and reset the trap. Then yelled I am up here on the top of the hill. Then right way the fox rushed up the hill and stepped on the line attached to the trap. The fox got into the net that was a part of the trap and got fooled. The fox stayed in there for a hour and the goat laughed hour at the barn.
