The day finally came for me to leave, I had packed my things that morning in a mournful mood that morning.I did not want to go to nana’s but mom kept telling me it was for the better, over and over again like a broken record. After I said goodbye to mom I had gotten on the plane and put on my seatbelt, the ride was supposed to be short so I would only have around 30 minutes to contain my thoughts on how things would be.Mid-flight I reached in my backpack and grabbed my dad’s ball.I started wondering off into though, honestly I was more afraid than upset, what if nana did not like me?What if I did not fit in, this was like school all over again, which only made me upset again. The plane had landed and the flight attendant came.
“Your grandma

is waiting outside for you sweetheart let's go and walk you to her.”Said the flight attendant.I looked up at her as I put my baseball in my backpack.I replied with a simple smile, I did not want to rude just because I was in a bad mood.As we make our way outside on the plane and into the airport nana is standing right in the middle of everyone walking out.She runs up to me and hugs me which makes me drop my stuff. “Izzy!
I am so happy to see you.” she yelled in excitement.
“Oh nana how I’ve missed you so.” I said, I tried holding in my sarcasm and groaned instead.she let go and looked at me oddly while scanning my

body “You have grown so much I remember when you were just this small I used to change your diapers and help out your mom.” she said “Thanks nana, can we go now?”She then looks at me and smiles. “Sure sweetie you must be dying to see your room”she said in a calm tone. She then grabbed my stuff and we went to get a taxi. The village was far away from most of the city so it took about an hour to get there. When we had gotten to the village nana had grabbed my stuff again and helped me out of the taxi and showed me the way to her house, on our way there some of the children from the village stared at me, it made me feel out of place. We had finally gotten to her house.Nana’s house was a small orange and white home that was pretty cute and cosy she had shown me to my room which was full of tiny bears and cute lacy blankets. “This use to be my room when I was your age, I hope you like it.” she whispered.
“It’s nice and pink, very pink.” I said, not that I mined I thought it was pleasant and different from my room.I thought to myself maybe things will not be so bad.
“I’ll leave you to unpack.” said nana.
“Thanks nana.” I said.I began unpack when I realized I couldn’t find my baseball.A large amount of panic suddenly came over me.That ball is the only thing I have left of him it must be here somewhere!I took everything out and it wasn’t in my bag, I quickly ran towards nana and asked her if she knew where my ball went.
“No izzy, I did not see you ball i’m sorry.” she said. I had only been here for a few hours and things are already not going my way.I decided to run around the village and see if nana dropped it somewhere when she took my stuff. It was sundown now and I could not find it anywhere, I felt sick inside.A few villagers were suddenly calling my name.I guess nana had been looking for me I should go and find her.She suddenly came up behind me and hugged me
“Izzy i know you're upset, I will get you a new ball.”she said calmly
“No! I do not want just any ball I want my Ball!” I said.As i pushed her away i
said “It was dad’s ball, the thing only thing I have left of him!.”
Susie’s mother opened the door to let Molly, Susie’s babysitter, inside. Ten-month old Susie seemed happy to see Molly. Susie then observed her mother put her jacket on and Susie’s face turned from smiling to sad as she realized that her mother was going out. Molly had sat for Susie many times in the past month, and Susie had never reacted like this before. When Susie’s mother returned home, the sitter told her that Susie had cried until she knew that her mother had left and then they had a nice time playing with toys until she heard her mother’s key in the door. Then Susie began crying once again.
I started to walk across the street to my friend Lacey’s house. Lacey lives just outside Detroit, but like my family, her family comes to the cape for the summer. Our families’ have been friends for about 10 years, but we normally don’t see or talk to each other during the year, only summertime seems to bring us together. Traditionally Lacey and I leave for the beach together, even at age 7 we walked with our mothers, so I knew I had to tell her about this errand before I left for town.
Before, I could even take note, it was already October. It was time for me to pack everything in my room, and say my final goodbyes to my family members. I was going to leave everything that meant a lot to me behind. Previously, before October, we picked up my dad from the airport so that he could help us load all of our belongings to the U-Haul truck. Lily, ‘my cousin’, (we aren’t related, she is just a very close friend who I consider family) was staying with use because she want to see her father, who was also living in Denver. My mom and dad, sister, uncle, cousin, and I all stayed at the house one last night. I remember that my sister said that all her friends gathered around my mom’s car to wave goodbye to her. Her closest friends got very emotional and they started to cry. Not only did the move affect me, it also affected my sister greatly. It was like someone had given her a punch in the stomach. By the next day, we had everything in the U-Haul truck, and it was time for me to leave my precious Vegas behind. We had now started the drive to
After a few minutes of me silently wondering what was wrong and why people wont tell me what's happening, we arrived at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. I didn’t know what was going on, but I assumed something had happened to Noah. After all, he is my only sibling. Once we pulled up and parked at the hospital. We were silent walking into the hospital.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
Sad that we were forgotten, we were barely hungry anymore. When the kids went up for food, we stayed behind. From across the hall, I could see our relatives having a great time gathering their food. Then, something was blocking my view. When I looked up at the face of the figure, I realized it was my Dad coming this way! Quickly, I looked over to Sam who saw the same thing I did. We waited while he slowly made his way down the hallway. By the time he made it, he knew we saw him. Just before the door frame, he stopped and waved for us to come towards him. On our hurried way out of the room, I glanced over at Maddie. She saw us leave and didn’t seem to care all that much. Although Maddie likes our older cousins, she has much more fun with the younger ones. For some reason kids love Maddie. Instead of caring about what Sam and I were up to, she turned her attention to the children whom loved her attention. When Sam and I arrived at our father, he waited to speak so we could catch our breath. “You guys want to sit with your cousins right?” Without hesitation, we nodded in agreement. “Well I guess you can…” Before he could finish, we sped up the hallway.
A calm crisp breeze circled my body as I sat emerged in my thoughts, hopes, and memories. The rough bark on which I sat reminded me of the rough road many people have traveled, only to end with something no one in human form can contemplate.
“That’s weird, I received a phone call from Mr. Reynolds saying that she didn’t come home after school.” Mr. Smith replied. After dinner, Chloe ran to her room to do her homework. When she took out her textbooks from her bag, the envelope fell onto her floor. She opens the envelope to find a letter that reads, “ Dear Chloe, I have run away from home. Please don’t tell anyone, not even your parents. There is a clue in a book at the library. I am sorry, but I couldn’t bare to look you in the eyes. I hope I will see you again. Love, Sam P.S. It had been quite a while since Little Red had gone to see her grandma, who lived deep in the woods that bordered their town, and the she thought her sweet grandma would be lonesome all by herself in the great woods. Absent minded Little Red’s mother agreed that she would, indeed, be getting lonely at around this time of year. “That sounds like a wonderful idea! Your grandmother will be very happy to see how much you’ve grown,” her mother said. And with that, they packed a basket filled with soft, freshly baked breads and cookies.
Every student dreams of going to college, but once you are enrolled it’s a challenge to achieve the goal of getting the degree. Weather it has been a friend, family member, or even a neighbor they have their ways of handling the conundrum. My friend Kevin, recently graduated this past year, started of in Middlesex for two years, and then he transferred to Rutgers to finish his career. He graduated from Rutgers and now is an accounting major. Kevin is amiable, hardworking, and deft. During his time at Middlesex and Rutgers, he had a job at Apple, went to the gym, participated in many fundraisers, and volunteer at hospitals. All these task that he did engendered an issue. The issue it created was that he had no time to do anything. He would
At the time I was a teenager, kicking my way through autumn leaves on my way home from school, when I suddenly discovered someone in front of me, directly in front of my path. Shocked, I looked down. A patch of brown, scaly skin could be seen from under the muggy, dense leaves. I could feel blood rush to my head, and I jumped! I stepped away in horror, my mind racing for the right way to handle this situation, that seemed to be otherworldly….so I ran.
On a warm summer night, on August 12, 2016; I was home with my bestfriend. That night something that will never leave our memories happened to us, it was the worst event we had ever experienced in our lives. Late that night my parents went to Nashville to get something from Wal-Mart.
It was a gloomy saturday afternoon an ash colored cloud covering every inch of the sky. My mom Tiffany, her boyfriend Kelly, and I all sat around the old wooden oval dining table. I was not thrilled to be sitting there thinking back on all of the other family memories that had been made with my dad and brother. My mom was saying something, but I wasn’t listening. It was like I was underwater my vision was a blurred around me, and everything was inaudible through my ears. Just seconds ago I had received possibly the most life changing news in my teenage years.
It was around 2:00pm and it was time to open presents. I started with opening friend’s presents then I opened families. I was finally done opening all my presents. I looked around at all the people, who were looking at me and my dad was nowhere to be. That was the only present that I was looking forward too. The party ended and my dad didn’t show up, my little four years old hopes were in the ground, it was like I could feel my heart ripping appart. I looked at my mom and she mouthed I’m sorry, my faced turned rosy red and my eyes filled with tears. From that moment on my life was never the same. It was a dark cloudy day and I was going to see my dad. We were playing the game Sorry and he was winning. I was the yellow player and he was the green player, he was laughing and smiling the whole time. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my Friday afternoon any other way. When the game was over he asked me to clean up the game while he went out to smoke a cig. When he entered the room and the game wasn’t picked up, he went crazy. His eyes seemed to turn a dark almost black color. It was like he was a completely different person when he came back
“Hello Miss Megan, or should I say my royal highness” she said with a playful smile, promoting my fantasy. I curtseyed to her and then ran to the kitchen to grab another handful of snacks. I plopped down on the floor cradling the Cheerio box in my lap. I watched my mom and grandma share hushed conversation near the door way, followed by a lingering hug.
