My little brother Roman is my best friend. He knows better than anyone that, although I am intelligent and dedicated, I am not perfect. Last summer, Roman and I competed in the AMA National Championships. We both were entered in ½A-Gas and ½A-Classic-Gas, but we planned to share the same old AstroStar for all four entries. In our other model-sharing events, Roman had been flying first, teasing that “I would break the model before he got to fly.” Finally, for ½A-Classic, I convinced him otherwise. Being very careful to read the air so as not to crash, I hit thermals on my first three flights! With several max-times under my belt, I was practically guaranteed to take first place.
