Personal Narrative Essay: The Vague Mine

The abandoned mine down between the hills hidden out of site, not even marked on maps, carries a reputation of horror and mysterious events. Only the bravest of the brave even consider entering the abandoned mine since the only thing that has left it are stories of what happens beyond its entrance. The mine has been abandoned for 80 years, and whatever goes into that place never comes out. Although these stories should be enough to keep me far away from that mine, I let my curiosity get the best of me. I can't help but want to explore that creepy old mine, and be the one that gets to say "I went into The Misty Mine". We plan out everything, flawlessly and go over it to make sure nothing can go wrong. We pick a perfect day, and time that will work in our favor, we also list what we will need to bring and expect. We all prepare for the big day, and perfectly plan the whole trip. Finally, the day has come, me and my friends are all excited to venture into the hills and find this abandoned mine. We wake up and gather at a local park, prepared for the long ride. We mount our bikes and head for the hills. We pull out the directions to make sure we are going the right way, and continue on. We ride through the day until we are standing before the hills that protect the abandoned mine. We stumble upon a dirt road that is supposed to lead us to the mines. We arrive at the top, and a tucked away cave catches my glance. "There" I exclaim as I point towards it. We walk towards the cave and there we see the entrance to The Misty Mine. We all squeeze ourselves through the twelve foot tall packed dirt entrance not knowing what to expect on the other side. When we are all in I light a gas fueled lantern, and we notice that we are in a small room composed of jagged rock.
