Learning to swim always seem to be a difficult skill for me. The difficult part was overcoming my fears of potential drowning or never learning the skill or technique properly. The importance of learning how to swim will increase my fate, confidence, and stamina. Swimming is consistently among top public recreational activities especially during the summer. There are techniques and benefits from swimming, in which, is a formalized sport of features local, international, and national competitions. Moreover, during a summer vacation with family and a co-worker I decided to face my fears and learn to swim at a local pool. I approached the pool with a co-worker, who was an experienced swimmer and we began with safety, breathing, and coordination techniques. First, we focus on breathing techniques which exhaling through your nose/mouth as soon as you inhale; was a difficult critical task. Next, we learned the locomotion and range of how many limbs should maneuver in the water; that point we entered the water. So I called and asked my coworker if she wanted to take swimming lessons, she replied “yes sure.” We finally got enrolled in the swimming classes. Classes are from 5pm- 8pm Monday- Wednesday. The instructor was very nice. He took up a lot of time with his new swimmers. He also wanted the new beginners to be on time during every lesson. He taught us a lot in general about swimming that a lot of us did not know about. He taught us several thing as well. He taught us how to float, swim, and how to swim under the water. Also he taught us to never get in the pool without safety first. There should always be a lifeguard around the pool areas at all giving times. The instructor really helped me learn a lot during these swimming
The first practice was at 5 a.m. and the night before I couldn't sleep. My mind would keep wondering what would happen, was I supposed to be wearing my bathing suit, what were my teammates going to be like. When it came time to go to practice I was shaking the whole way. Soon after I learned that my fears should have not been focused on such silly things now. If anything swim really helped me face them head on. With so much change going with swim I got used to this fear. My family and friends were also a great succor. Even though they probably didn't know that it was helping me. I approach the rugged mountain, shielding my body from the nasty frost nipping at my exposed skin. The sun ever so lightly peeks over the horizon as I strap on my skis, lightly dusted with a thin layer of fresh snow. Although my body shivers unceasingly, I feel comforted by the surges of adrenaline pumping through my body. I skate briskly toward the ski lift to secure my place as the first person in line. On the slippery leather seats of the lift my mind races, contemplating the many combinations of runs I can chain together before I reach the bottom of the hill. I arrive at the peak of the mountain and begin building up speed. Floating on the soft snow, weaving through the trees and soaring over rocks, I feel as if I am flying. The rush of adrenaline excites me. I feed on it. I thrive on it. I am ski; I live for speed; I am an evolving technique and I hold a firm edge.
