Unit 1 Personal Narrative.

Probably one of the most important decisions I've made in my life happened this year. The decision was me , choosing whether i wanted to do drumline or play hockey. As a freshman going into the first year of highschool, it lead me to think of plenty of things. But one important fact that stuck out was me deciding if I wanted to pursue music or sports. As a freshman , I knew that I couldn't balance sports and marching band at the same time. Rehearsal for marching band happened everyday after school until 5 pm. I knew I couldn't do homework and study for tests with only 3 hours if hockey started at 9. So, I made the decision of choosing drumline over hockey. A couple days after that, I asked someone who used to be on drumline to help me out with the basics of drumline. He also had to make a decision to do hockey or drumline. He chose hockey over drumline and continued with his career in sports. From that point on we met every wednesday or any other day of the week and went over things that I needed to know for trying out. I gave up so much of my time and many other things like hanging out with friends or playing video games. After 2 or 3 months of practicing and learning new things, I was ready for tryouts.

The day I had been practicing so much for was finally here. I didn't know what to think, I was more prepared than other people but still didn't think I would make the line. As I walked into tryouts the first day, I was confident , but at the same time, I knew I was nervous inside. I was one of the 3 freshman trying out. There were other people there who were on drumline the previous years. They looked like nothing was wrong to them and this tryout was pretty much a casual rehersal for them. All though , all thing all of them thought that we freshmen were terrible. We started
